Kokoberry Crepes

kokoberry crepes

Mary texted me the previous night to inform me that the Kokoberry Crepes are now available. I told her I’ll be there right after work the next day so I arrived at about 6 pm at Kokoberry, Delta Mall yesterday evening to check out the crepes. I ordered a Hazelnut Chocolate Crepe (RM 2.80) and a Peanut Butter Crepe (RM 2.80).

I was initially unrecognized due to my office attire – it seems that I look different wearing work clothes than I do in casual wear. I’ve been told this much by a lot of people. I think it’s a combination of the way I style my hair during work (very conservative) and the long sleeved shirts that I wear (hides my tattoos).

Blue Sky (RM 3.20 / RM 2.80)

kokoberry blue sky

Blue Sky is another one of the Top 9 concoctions of Kokoberry. It’s a bit like a float – it contains Sprite (or 7-Up) topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I honestly don’t know where the blue color comes from. It’s a refreshing drink though, due to the Sprite/7-Up base – perfect for a non-alcoholic thirst quencher after work.

The Making of a Kokoberry Crepe

The batter is prepared (it takes about 15 minutes) and poured on a flat heating element.

Peanut butter is then slathered evenly on the cooking crepe.

kokoberry crepe 3

Hazelnut chocolate crepes goes through the same process (but with hazelnut filling, of course).

This is a close up of the cooking crepe. Kokoberry’s crepes are thin and crispy, with a chewy end – it tastes surprisingly good.

The finished crepe is then lifted from the heating element and folded up. I got her to pose for a photograph so many times that I think her cheeks are sore from having to maintain a constant smile. πŸ˜‰

This is what the finished Kokoberry Crepe looks like. The model is none other than Mary, the owner of the outlet.

kokoberry crepe fan

Hmm…it doubles as a fan too! Cool.
(Pun intended)

The crepes and drinks were on the house again, thanks to Mary. You shouldn’t keep doing this Mary, paiseh lah, next time I insist on paying or else I won’t go. :p

  1. Oh ya, that “Blue Sky” reminds me of the name of a famous whore-house-in-disguise pub at Batu Lintang, Kuching. Many local Iban chicks there. RM30 per service. Sayang now close shop liau. Now left only Nolstalgia.

  5. Hello~~~ HB, finally the crepe post. Only sweet crepe? Seem like they don’t use whipped cream nor custard with fruits. I miss those type of crepes. Usually, the crepes that I had were very chewy and soft, bulky with fillings too, of course more expensive. But from the pictures in this post, it looked more like a giant version of crispy thinner gigantic apan balik.
Love that “fan holding” pic. LOL

  6. I made my own crepes at my university residence not too long ago! Mine are much smaller, chewy and contain fruit, nutella, peanut butter, jam. chocolate, honey and/or whipped cream πŸ™‚
I usually use whole wheat flour and roll them, too. Hmm…makes me feel like making some crepes right now…

  8. wilson: Womanizer? No lah, where got? Girls always play with my feelings one. Everytime I love a girl, and ask her to marry me, they always run away quick quick. I don’t know why lah. It’s not that I play with girls, it’s them who play with my feelings and then dump me. Boo hoo hoo. πŸ˜‰
wilson: I know the one you’re talking about. πŸ™‚
The other infamous one is Sakura, right opposite the Sekama Police Station. I’ve been to Sakura once when I was 17, was curious about what went on inside, walked in, and then walked out again. I don’t understand the appeal of these places.
Simmy: The dimples, eh? I forgot to get her name, should ask Mary what her name is. πŸ˜‰
Yeah, very useful for visible tattoos, long sleeves. Appropriate office attire to boot. It’s kinda cold where I sit (right under the ceiling mounted air con) so it works well for me too.
Darren: Yeah, we’re like chameleons. There’s a term for it in Chinese – shi wen bai lei. πŸ˜‰
You’ve got a Kokoberry outlet in the same building where you work? I saw one in Miri, at a shopping center. I can’t remember which one though.
JW: Thanks JW. That was my favorite work shirt until I received a lot of compliments on this white shirt that I work to a funeral service. Now the white shirt is my favorite one. πŸ˜‰
Choonie: No lah, it’s not like that. I went coz I wanted to promote a local blogger who’s doing a business enterprise near my home (Delta Mall is just a minute’s drive away from where I live).
The crepes are good, but it’s huge, so don’t eat more than one. It gets a bit too cloying after more than one.
evil feline: There are Kokoberry outlets in Miri. I know there’s one at a shopping center (Parkson, I think) on the ground floor right beside the entrance.
cc: Huge is the word. πŸ™‚
Thanks for the support, my friend. I’m glad you’re back.
fish fish: Yeah, they only have sweet fillings in the crepes. It’s not a specialty crepe place so there isn’t an extensive menu. The crepes at Kokoberry is crunchy at the top and chewy and soft at the bottom. Paper thin too.
My friend told me I look like a sissy holding the fan like that. It was intentional. πŸ˜‰
liquidblackout: OMG! That sounds delicious! I’m gonna have to try your crepes some day.
jessy: It’s about the fan being cool e.g. cools you down. πŸ˜‰
goolooloo: Okay! I’ll get the RM 11.50 buffet bloggers meet for you this Saturday.
Sure, no problem. It saves on the drinks by being a member anyway. πŸ™‚

Your blog is great visually, I mean people wont be bored. But others who can see past the videos and the layout wont be so impressed with your generic understanding of this topic.

Between me and my husband we’ve owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I’ve settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.

  27. If SE was smart (and had a heart) they’d make this thing for every carrier. Take over Android, get buzz in the handheld arena again and take on Apple in a big way – don’t give this to AT&T and call it a day. I know SE hates CDMA but make it for Verizon and AT&T at the least, and Verizon, Sprint, AT&T and T-Mobile if you’re serious about this thing making an impact. It’s gorgeous and this is very exciting. The choice of touchpads instead of analog sticks is interesting. It could work, but odd since we know they are capable of thin nubs for sliders (Go).

  30. I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)

  32. Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass’ favor.

  33. Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.

  35. The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.

  37. The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.
