Blogger gets Twister-fied

kfc the star

I was approached by a media company for permission to use my photos in an online ad campaign for KFC a few weeks back. It was meant to be non-monetary (e.g. free) but with an inbound link to the post in question about the KFC Toasted Twister entry I did a few weeks ago. It came out in The Star (pictured above), MSN Malaysia and MSN Live Messenger this week.

I’ve seen it also on the Today screen of MSN Live Messenger. There seem to be two (2) versions of the ads:

kfc SS

Skyscraper unit

kfc LR

Large rectangle unit

The two versions above does not have the inbound link but I’ve heard from a friend that there’s another splash page version that comes out occasionally with an inbound link if you click on the headline (other parts of the ad will direct you to the KFC website).

Has anyone seen that version around? Cheers! πŸ™‚

  1. So you managed to get to see it in the end. I caught it again a day or two later on Windows Live Today…but when I clicked on replay. nothing happened…and clicking for more got me to KFC website only, nothing about the ad. They pay u for that or not? Lifetime supply of KFC??? I want! I want! Hahahahahahahaha!!!!!

  3. Hmmmm… where is the very common ethical practice that they should the least have to give credit to the original source that they quoted from? It doesn’t matter whether they have the link somewhere else, it is necessary to show the source side by side of the material each time they use it.

  4. YingYang: I’ve seen it a couple of times, there are other ads rotating, so it might take a while.
vincent: Oh, so you came in from the ad? Interesting. Good luck in your exam! πŸ™‚
Bert: Haha! It’s gratis. I didn’t receive any payment for this. I do Fast Food Inc. reviews coz I like it, I don’t get paid for it at all (and I also pay for the food). Hmm…now come to think of it, that should probably change eh? πŸ˜‰
suituapui: No lah, I didn’t receive any payment for it. No lifetime supply of KFC too. Have to pay. πŸ˜‰
    Darren: Nope, unfortunately not. πŸ˜‰

Yeah, it was going to be a dual feature with two excerpts from two bloggers and inbound links for both but that ad never shows on me. I haven’t seen it, but then again I’ve been busy this week. Shall check it out when I’m on MSN. Cheers!
JoeNiece: Yeah, I knew about this a couple of weeks ago. πŸ™‚
fish fish: Hmm…well, there’s no model release forms or anything like that, but I gave written consent for the use of the photos, in exchange for an inbound link. πŸ˜‰
clement: Times are hard, I guess. πŸ˜‰
    Eh, petrol price decrease already.
Choonie: Those are the three sites that I know has it. I don’t think it’s shown any other place. πŸ™‚
