kl car

My car has just survived the RM 3,500 journey from Sibu to KL inside a container through the South China Sea. It seems pretty much intact, although I nearly backed into another car yesterday. Much has been said about KL drivers being reckless and aggressive…which is pretty much the same way I drive. I think I’ll do okay here. πŸ˜‰

I’m going to drive down to KL tomorrow to see if I still remember how to…and meanwhile, on the home front, the fridge has just arrived:

…albeit with a dent, but that’s okay coz I got the Best Denki guys to hook up the washing machine completely for me to compensate for that:

The TM Homeline people are coming to install my line on Monday, and Streamyx should be up 24-72 hours later. I noticed that math is not my true calling (understatement of the year). I went for the fixed line + Streamyx option coz I thought the Streamyx Combo package actually works out to be more expensive.

sixthseal.com math:

TM Homeline: RM 26
Streamyx: RM 88

is cheaper than the RM 110 per month for the Streamyx Combo, which comes with the TM Homeline RM 26 fees waived, coz I didn’t need the free wireless modem (since I already have one). I actually told the sales representative that I don’t want to be paying RM 22 dollars per month extra for a modem and will be going for the separate TM Homeline + Streamyx package coz it’s cheaper.

She actually gave me a blank stare, and opened her mouth before shutting it again, realizing the futility of reasoning with an illogical person.

I was only thinking of RM 88 vs RM 110 and it just hit me that I would be paying RM 4 LESS with the Streamyx Combo AND getting a FREE wireless modem to boot since the TM Homeline fee is waived in this package.

Flawed logic, that’s me down to a T.

  4. HB, I do not know much of Asia and see is that a washer and dryer or just a washer? See no dishwasher in place. Condos in states have all included of washer and dryer, fridge, dishwasher gym and swimming pool. Is it a rent to own contract?

  5. Well now you are in a new home away from home. Do you have supermarket near by and restaurants? Interesting you brought own washer no dryer. It like my mom when she stay in Beijing apt. for a few months wash clothing and hang out to dry but water and air is bad there so clothings smell bad.

  7. Nice looking ride, HB. Better than mine, to be sure. But about the fridge pic – surely that is not Guiness I see in there is it? What a terible thing to do to good beer. ( beer is proof that God loves us, and wishes us to be happy – quote from Ben Franklin). Oh well, to each their own. Just give me one of the warm ones off the top, please. Try not to let anyone ding that sweet looking car (or yourself, either). Good luck in your new home.

  8. LOL!!! I got a way to save you even more, and it’s all legal. But it will lay off hundred or more people at TM! Some staff may run amok and try to chop me, if they know me. Be very scary!

  10. Some of your bloggers comments is so right. It time to be a little frugal due so many places people having hours cut down or layoffs. Save for special occasions is more meaningful now days. So many bloggers in states wonder if you ever going into trading business online? Due to many things states lack in having from Malaysia and southeast Asia. Side business is good online.

  12. Dude Man, I was on computer early and neighbor knock on my door might say pound on it. Every to get out due to one unit got on fire and smoke was filling the building. Got out in time and smoke detector did goes off when neighbor alerted me. It good to know your neighbors.
It was cooking fire that spread to whole kitchen and the fire dept got it out. Damage it to kitchen only. I always have baking soda in kitchen to help put out fire for grease fire does not work with water.

Yeah, the application is sure taking a long time and money, last of which was the RM 50 I paid for not wearing my seatbelt. Oh well.
Nalin: Yeah, I’m in KL. Sure, we can meet up, buddy. πŸ™‚
ahmike: Eh, it was already in sixthseal.com from a previous post about an accident I had. The only thing I don’t reveal is where I live, all other personal info is open. πŸ™‚

Erica: Yeah, there is a swimming pool and gym, that’s pretty standard. Dishwashers is not very common here (for middle class people anyway). Just like dryers aren’t a common item.
Vickie: Yeah, I live very near my office so it’s quite a nice, easy commute to work when I start next month. Lots of places to eat too, two 24 hour places just right down the road.
suituapui: Sure, mate. Anytime, just give me a call when you’re in KL. πŸ™‚
Stanley: Nope, those are trails from the water that was there. I tend to brake quite suddenly though. πŸ˜‰
Tz: I’m okay with the traffic…it’s the traffic police that I’m not okay with. Quite the efficient here. Good thing I took my tinted windows down before I got here.
Cole: Yeah, will do that when I have Streamyx at home. This week for sure.
tom: Thanks tom! Appreciate the kind comments. πŸ™‚
It’s not Guinness, it’s Skol, made by Carlsberg. A rather low end beer, but very strong at 9% alcohol. It’s marketed as the only 9% alcohol beer in Malaysia. Best consumed chilled.
g0ldf1n93r: Come, tell me bro. πŸ˜‰
    Jeff: Thanks buddy, I will.
alexallied: We do have a spare room. It’s unfurnished though, so if you don’t mind, sure, why not. πŸ™‚
Vickie: I will consider it but I’ve been trying to get broadband into my place for almost two weeks now. Problems with the registration.
Michale (Mike): I hope everything is alright. Yeah, baking soda is the way to go for kitchen fires.
