My LURVE Affair with Cooking

lurve ingredients

I love to cook! I’m sure that long time readers of sixthseal.com would notice my affinity with the kitchen. I just moved into a condo which lacks a kitchen, but that won’t stop me from indulging my inner chef. I have been craving for something healthier than my usual culinary adventures, so I decided to make a BLT LURVE tortilla wrap with avocado, feta cheese and olives.

You will need:

LURVE multigrain chips
Whole meal tortilla wrap
One medium-sized avocado
Hydroponics butter head lettuce
Fresh cherry tomatoes
Kraft Real Mayonnaise
Beef with green peppercorn deli slices
Feta cheese and olives

lurve avocado

The whole meal tortilla wrap is a more…er, wholesome option compared to plain tortilla wraps. It can be obtained at any self-respecting hypermarket. I’m a big fan of mayonnaise – it’s not all that bad for you in reasonable amounts and you can’t have a proper tortilla without condiments.

Real Men Eat Real Mayo!

Step 1: Start by slathering the Kraft Real Mayonnaise on one side of the tortilla wrap. Slice the avocado in half and take the seed out. Coarsely mash (feel free to use your hands) Β½ an avocado into the other side of the tortilla wrap, yin yang style. This is your condiment base.

Step 2: Arrange the beef cold cuts (I like the ones with peppercorns in them, but it’s really a matter of taste) on one side of the whole meal tortilla wrap. I prefer to put this on the mayo side so it won’t slip and slide away, the placement is for a pragmatic reason.

Step 3: Take the butter head lettuce and peel off a couple of leafy greens from it. This will add moisture and a fresh zing to your tortilla. Next, take a handful of LURVE multigrain chips (French Onion) and scatter it on the other side. This contributes a new dimension of texture to the tortilla – the elusive Crunch Factor (TM)!

lurve cheese

Step 4: Sprinkle the feta cheese and olives liberally to give your tortilla a salty tang!

Serving suggestion:

Cut tortilla in half with a bread knife (you need a serrated edge blade for a clean cut) and serve with cherry tomatoes and LURVE HOT ‘N’ SPICY multigrain chips.

It’s healthy and it’s delicious!

  1. HB, it been a while for so many months but MAN YOU COOKING AGAIN? !!! I thought Malaysia have their own mayo ? I like mine with turkey cold cuts and ham on it with spicy mustard too. How can your condo have no kitchen? Not a stove at all or microwave for you to use? I guess you need to get a portable burner.

  2. Michael (Mike): I haven’t seen any local mayo (unless you take a beater to eggs and oil in your own kitchen). Kraft Real Mayo is pretty good. πŸ™‚
jessy: Heh! Yeah, I prefer tortillas to sandwiches any day. Less bread. πŸ™‚
chics: Go make it, it’s quite easy to whip up in the kitchen. πŸ™‚

    Jac: Heh! Sure thing! πŸ™‚

  3. bongkersz: Nope, there’s lettuce inside and the feta cheese and olives is soaked in oil so it won’t be too dry. πŸ™‚
KY: Cooking without microwaves (or other traditional cooking implements). Hmm…does it still make this cooking? πŸ™‚

  4. No offense HB, I am sure the meal was good, but that avacodo looks a bit nasty. When I was in hawaii I was getting great avocados. I thought the pacific rim had great fresh avocados. (malayasia is considered pacific rim isn’t it?)

Anon: Eh, I already replied you but then I noticed that you’re the Milton troll from your IP. :p
mike: This is some wierd Eastern European avocado – I totally agree with you. It looks NASTY – squish and overripe but it’s quite cheap though. IIRC, it was only about RM 3 (about USD 0.85) each. It’s a bit on the small side though.
It can’t compare to the nice, perfectly rounded avocados I’ve seen in Sibu (an VERY small town compared to KL) but it seems that the local hypermarket is not big on avocados and stuff like that.
BTW, Malaysia does not grow avocados as far as I know.
All ours are imported and we import from Hawaii as well. πŸ™‚

  6. Dude, you got to tell some one that if they wanna market that in the west, IT has to have a name change. Lurve is way too close to Larve, which means, over here, a pupe stage of an insect. ( bug). Not something most persons want to associate with their food. ( think tricanosis brand ham, or weavel brand cereal), or mcd beef. Just saying, HB. God Bless, still enjoy everything you write.

  7. HB, my brother in laws brother died this morning, of a massive unexpected heart attack. I liked him. but he was obsessed with his own health. Absolutley no alcohol, tobacco, would never eat any fat meat, or good desserts ( like chessecake, or pie). Barbeque? never. A doughnut or brownie? no, might gain some weight. A hotdog at a cook out? no thanks, full of nitrates. He denied himslf all these things to maintain his health, and died at 61. What a waste. This is not to say go bust every thing wide open, but have a little fun, while we are here. tom ( ps, eat dessert first).

  8. Avacodos are neat. we get two kinds around here ( WNC). The thin skined ( green) ones and what we call the ” gator skin” (tough skin) ones. My Dad liked the later. ( he lived in Panama an Hondurs for a while. ) The gator skins are the best. ( most flavorful) Cut one in half, and add a teaspoon of viniger or hot pepper sauce for breakfast some time. pretty good. though the CA ones are ok, also. tom

Tom Robinson: Sorry to hear about your brother in law, mate…my condolences.
I like the tough skin variety too, what you call gator skin. The one above is the thin skin variety which IMHO doesn’t taste nearly as good. One thing about avocados though, they’re kinda loaded with cholestrol.
Yup the shirt says “Freelance Gynecologist – Exploring female genitals one lick at a time”. πŸ™‚
    eiling: Anytime. πŸ™‚
I actually want to use your kitchen for my next cooking expedition. πŸ™‚

  11. HB, my late grandparents home is in Hawaii and they have mango, avocados, lichee and hot peppers trees and plants in their estate. Some time when there in Hawaii enjoyed picking the fruits from their tree. The banana tree always have big crop and papaya not bad.
Soil is rich and anythings grow fast there

  12. Vickie: I’ve always wanted to grow avocados but I lack a green thumb. Even the state of the art hydroponics setup (not for avocados obviously) that I had in Melbourne a couple of years back had…er, plants dying on me despite racking up a HUGE electricity bill from the sun lamps. πŸ™

  16. After reading this posting, I pondered the same point that I invariably wonder about when scanning new blogs and forums. Just what do I think about this? Precisely how really should it impact me? This and extra posts on your weblog right here definitely give some stuff to contemplate. I fundamentally ended up here through Yahoo when I was first doing some internet investigation for some course work that I’ve. Always excellent times browsing through and I’m hopeful that you’ll maintain on writing new posts. Cheers!
