Two weddings

four seasons

This 4 seasons dish in a boat is more unwieldy that it appears to be. One of my friends turned the Lazy Susan and the bow of the boat immedietely spilled Coke all over another guest. Haha!

smk methodist

This CNY, I went to two wedding receptions on the 3rd day. The first one is a school mate’s – Ita and Constantine’s wedding.

ita constantine

This is the happy couple!

aaron

This is Jesse, Ita’s brother. I drank 3 glasses of Chivas neat in a row with him in commemoration with his sister’s wedding.

doris wong

Oh and strangely enough I met Doris Wong who works in KL. Okay, it is quite difficult to describe our relationship – she knows my ex-girlfriend (the one who’s name is inked on my arm), is related to Ita, and we’ve only chatted on Facebook. She’s in an agency too – similar line of work, and I was quite surprised to see someone smiling at me and dredged my memory to remember who the fuck that is while at the same time not wanting to appear rude. Sorry Doris! It was good finally meeting you! πŸ™‚

4 seasons

I think I was still tipsy when I went to my cousin’s wedding later that night. I only capture the first dish – four seasons, coz that’s the BEST dish, hands down, at every Chinese wedding reception no?

cousin

My cousin (from my mother’s side) and her husband.

Yam seng!

  3. dude, is this a Sibu thing, serve deep fried finger food on a sushi boat? Is one of them potatao chips? Shit, is this a restaurant or fish and chip shop?
is SMk methodist a chinese school? why two labels? People in Sibu can’t read English?
Anyway, looked like you had a good time. Nothing wrong with bumping into old mates, even though you don’t remember her name. This is where you pulled out a “G’day mate”, “how’s going mate”, “come over for a root, mate”, “see ya later, mate”.
BTW mate, you can’t say Doris is from an “agency”, people might get the wrongide and rings her middle of the night. ha ha ha
Congratulations to Ita and Constantine. Hey Con mate, don’t look so nervous man. ha ha ha ha
    3 glasses on Chivas, classic.

  4. ahlost: No worries, had a bit of a problem with my libraries yesterday, fixed already! πŸ™‚
Yup, it feels so good to be married ya. Have kids, relatively stable life etc and vacations every single year! =D
debbie: Hello Debbie! The four seasons dish is just an arbitrary name given to the first dish in every Chinese wedding – it consists of different dishes – a “tasting menu” of sorts. πŸ™‚
chefmel: Haha! That was how my hair used to look like. Happy CNY Mel!!!!
Have a roaring good Year of the Tiger! πŸ™‚
joya: I am practically pushing the boundaries of obesity now. πŸ˜‰
I went on a liquid *cough* beer *cough* diet last night. Stomach visibly shrank. Unfortunately, I have a tendency of accumulating adipose tissue on my face. πŸ™
yienyien: Oh, I take the first dish for both weddings – the four seasons platter. I also had some awesome and sinfully delicious prawns at the first wedding – tiger prawns, female, baked with cheese, it was amazing, especially the head where the eggs are. πŸ™‚
Vickie: Yup, I have set a date in fact – 32. I’m going to get married when I’m 32…so after deducting the 2 years “getting to know you” phase, that means I need to find my wife-to-be this year. πŸ˜‰
…and no room for mistakes. Haha!
e: Haha! I do have A cup moobs but it’s more than my chest is a bit extended, what the doctor used to call pigeon chest when I was a kid…guess that doesn’t help with the moobs. πŸ˜‰
WEEN: Heh! No, damn I didn’t even notice it until you mentioned it. It was purely an accident, I don’t know how it got in there. πŸ™‚
Haha! It’s funny now that you pointed it out coz both of us had it tucked in.
rocket: It’s not just deep fried finger food – there’s shrimps in mayo (one of my favorites), abalone with sea cucumber etc etc. A tasting platter of sorts.
Sibu is predominantly Chinese in the town centers. All the signage is in Chinese I could hardly find my way to the correct reception since there were several going on in that HUGE restaurant building empire. Mine is a government school, used to be a missionary school but got absorbed.
Agency means either creative agency, media agency etc…the advertising line, to me.
Yeah mate, 3 glasses neat, one after the other. Heh! πŸ™‚
Michelle Chin: Eh? You have to give ang pows during wedding, whether you’re married or not. πŸ™‚
Why would it mean more ang pows? πŸ™‚
KY: Yeah, each restaurant in Sibu has their own “specialty” – this one is a boat, the one where my sister hosted her reception was an elaborate procession. πŸ™‚

  7. eiling: Haha! Thanks! Yeah, it’s my old hairstyle, very very easy to maintain – just use gel and swipe it up. 10 seconds, and it’s done! πŸ˜‰
rocket: It’s in sweetened mayo as in mayo mixed with sugar. Not tartare sauce. It’s a well known Chinese dish – served at CNY reunion dinners too.
Haha! She has her own family what and Sibu is a bit too far. πŸ˜‰
ahlost: This place is a HUGE building with many floors – it’s a restaurant that specializes in weddings, dinners and other such occasions. It’s an amazing complex, quite confusing to navigate at first but it’s the largest in Sibu now.
Ya, keeping with the tradition of my family, 1 boy, 1 girl and annual vacations with the kids and sometimes parents. πŸ™‚
No worries, you can get married anytime. πŸ˜‰

  8. Wow, 2 weddings in a day! That must have been some kind of a record! And I thought there would be less weddings in the year of Tiger. Guess I was wrong! Congrats to the both lucky couples! πŸ™‚

  10. ShaolinTiger: Now that would be awesome! A whole sucking pig. I do like the staples though – the four seasons platter being one of them. πŸ™‚
Mizz Sharon: I don’t know, it’s just that as a child, I LOVE it when the four seasons platter come out. It’s like a tasting dish! πŸ™‚
Of course, there’s shark’s fin etc but I still like the four seasons dish. πŸ™‚
iamthewitch: Two weddings is the max you can attend – lunch and dinner receptions. You can’t leave halfway and I haven’t heard of breakfast receptions before, but when it happens it’ll be fun to go for three. I fear for my liver though. πŸ™‚
Charles: Ya, that’s why people do it during CNY when most people will be back. I went back for a friend’s wedding though, guess it depends on how well you know them. πŸ™‚
Only thing missing is drunk uncles yam seng. Haha!
suituapui: My table finished more than one bottle of Chivas and I was the only one really drinking. Haha!
    They’re bloggers? I didn’t know that! I don’t think they’re from my school. One’s my ex-classmate? Now that’s something I did not know. Hah!
Haha! Okay, okay, will try my very best. πŸ˜‰
Cheers bro, it’s good to see you again! πŸ™‚

So, taking up the challenge, Huai Bin? Make it ur turn soon…and let me see the one you will finally end up with! LOL!!!

  12. suituapui: Oh you mean the opposite table? Those are Methodist boys and girls too. I didn’t notice any hot chicks but then again I’ve downed so much Chivas that I wouldn’t have given them more than a cursory glance. Haha!
Hmm…the one I’ll end up with? I’m not sure yet bro, but it’s likely going to be a KL chick or someone working here coz I am based here. πŸ™‚
thenomadGourmand: Haha! Ya, wedding posts, can’t help it. 32 is a good number…so when are YOU going to marry? πŸ˜‰
Eh, let’s go on a food trip sometime. Not this week or the week after – March?

  13. jolene: Yeah, totally agree. I love the four seasons platter too coz of the variety. The others are pretty much similar, except for the cheese baked king prawns with roe. Awesome! πŸ™‚

  14. clement: Haha! Which table were you at? You could have joined my table – 1 spare spot or STP’s table. πŸ™‚
Eriku: Heh! Yeah, I try to update at least once every 24 hours – been making this a habit since 2002 though I sometimes don’t meet it and had to sacrifice a lot of sleep to do it. πŸ™‚
