Just Go!

boracay

I must admit, I tend to go on holidays on a whim, flying on the seat of my pants most of the time. Heck, I don’t even book hotels most of the time (one memorable trip to Guilin comes to mind) and just walk-in when I land. Heh.

It’s partly for the fun of it (can you say adventure?) but mostly it’s coz I get sudden last minute urges to just jump on a plane and go somewhere.

…and I do mean last minute.

locals

It’s just so easy with AirAsia bookings, just click, click, click followed by an hour of chucking stuff into my backpack and rummaging around for my passport and off I go.

I have even been known to forget about visa requirements and having to rush last minute to get it sorted out less than 12 hours before I fly. #champion

However, during one of my Europe backpacking trips, I did the same thing, and ended up without a place to stay coz all the backpacker places were booked out and I couldn’t afford to stay in a hotel. I ended up sleeping at the airport for the first day.

It was freezing cold and the automatic doors kept on opening and closing so I couldn’t get any proper rest.

resort

I have seen the AirAsiaGo site before but I’ve never actually truly explored that option. However, the savings from a combined flight + hotel deal could be rather significant.

…and you’ll still retain your freedom to do whatever you want.

Best of all, the hotels can be grouped by price so you can choose based on your budget. There are over 100,000+ accommodation types available, from the most basic to the obscenely luxurious. There are also 5,000+ tours and activities on offer.

You can also opt for a tour package if that’s your thing but essentially you can just use it as a hotel added on to your flight, all conveniently located in one site so you don’t have to waste precious hours searching around.

kitesurfing

AirAsiaGo is having their OMG 72 Hours Sale! which features promo fares and discounted hotels to Bangkok, Langkawi, Perth, Osaka and Beijing. The booking period is from the 25-27th September and you can start flying from 1st October to 30th November!

I figure I’ll give it a shot. I group my travels into two separate experiences – solo backpacking and holidays and for the latter I wouldn’t want any hassles. The flight + hotel combo looks mighty tempting with its heavy discounts.

It’s perfect for last minute travel addicts like me, I love deals like this coz I don’t have to wait long to travel. Grab your passport and let your wanderlust take over! Stay tuned to the AirAsiaGo Facebook page – they’re going to reveal their promo soon! πŸ™‚

I’m going to check that out but most likely it’ll be Kathmandu first coz I’ve been planning to go there.

What are your plans bro? πŸ˜€

      • Wow…Kathmandu is definitely a nice place to be. I do not have plans for the moment as my boy is still very attached to my wifey. We plan for a trip to Singapore this coming Christmas and see how things work out for our baby.

        • Nice! Christmas would be a good time to be going to Singapore with the malls on Orchard Road having their festive decorations out. I remember being there was a kid during that time. πŸ™‚

          All the best mate!

    • It was taken in Boracay bro! πŸ™‚

Just came back from the Philippines, took AirAsia to Manila and then onwards to Boracay. The White Beach is pretty nice to chill in, and kitesurfing is cheap this time of the year (although you’ll be using White Beach instead of the usual one due to the monsoon).

Went for a great diving deal too, surprisingly a lot of tourists this time of the year, but nowhere as much as during peak season.

Just got the info on two of the deals, I’ll keep an eye out for the rest on their FB page.

All the best bro! I’m planning to go Kathmandu next. πŸ™‚

    • Yeah, that’s on my destinations list too. πŸ™‚

It’ll be fun, and that’s a really good deal for 5D/4N inclusive of hotel. It’s under 1k!

I’ll definitely consider it if I can get it and it’s not snapped up, gotta be fast for promos like these.

      All the best Alicia! πŸ˜€

The Osaka one is starting to look mighty tempting, all inclusive, including hotel for under 1k!

It’s a great deal, bet there’s going to be a rush for that, I’m going to try and see if I can get it. I’ve been known to purchase on impulse too. Heh.

      Cheers Arthur! πŸ˜€

Well, you can still have trips. I remember my best childhood memories was the tradition of us having at least several vacations a year ever since I was old enough to remember them.

      Great bonding sessions. πŸ˜€

    • Yeah, it does eh? I’m tempted myself.

A 5D/4N flight + hotel deal for under 1k, now that’s something I would go for.

  2. Boracay Island is definitely beautiful! If you’re not married, it’s possible to have that last-minute cravings for travel.

I’m not sure if I should fly to Osaka at this period of time. The yen, it has gone up like crazy. Would love to visit Perth, but the flight tickets for both places are surely cheaper than normal..

    • Yeah, I think you can still do it if you’re married, provided you don’t have small children to take care of.

I’ve seen my sister travel with my niece and nephew, it’s still possible. πŸ˜€

Yen going up eh? Oh well, a lot of currencies are fluctuating now, might be a good time to head to some other destination then, they’ve got a lot of promos going on.

I wouldn’t mind going back to visit Australia via Perth too!

      Cheers Ciana! πŸ™‚

I stayed up to check on the deals, am planning a vacation. Heh.

Alas, well that still leaves the end of the year.
