I had RM 500 as my bankroll – that’s as much as I was willing to lose. I won RM 1,500 from the roulette tables. That’s a RM 1,000 nett win but let me tell you about the most unusual sequence of events.

roulette 6

I took this at great personal risk of ejection from the casino. It’s the Roulette table with the number 6 pinned – some of the chips there are mine. I guess they must have seen me on the CCTVs, got a glare from the pit boss, so don’t complain about the quality. It would have been ignominious for me to be escorted out. ;)

I had wanted to bet the entire amount on the number 6. Why?

  • Well, there’s my blog name for one
  • Also, I got a queue number that practically shouts for me to go there
  • I also had a very good feeling about that number even before I came up

I kinda felt that I would win quite a large amount by doing that if I just went at the right time. I went while the others were taking a bath. I like to do this alone actually.

casino chips 500

Unfortunately, I didn’t have the balls to throw down the entire RM 500 on my very strong hunch or else the title would be how I won RM 17,500 from Genting – a good start towards recovering my funds. :x

I put down RM 30 in chips instead and spread the rest around.

I got up to RM 1,670 in the first second I sat down.

Dammit, for not heeding that instinct!!! Oh well.

Anyway, I set aside RM 1,000 (my original target was just a paltry RM 300 win – a far cry from the high rolling days – those are over) and used the RM 670 in chips to play again…which got me down RM 270 before a last minute hedge bet on 7-8 got me back to RM 800.

Yup, that’s a RM 1,300 nett win. I set aside another RM 500 (for RM 1,500) and used the RM 300 for one last shot.

myr1500

Lost all the RM 300 in a single spin (went for 1-18 numbers) and decided it was time to pull out. I had dropped below a 1k win once, and now I got back up and besides I reckon my friends would be done with the shower so I headed up.

Oh yeah, someone once told me that I should stop playing Baccarat, where I’m highly irrational (I go for Player 90% of the time) and suggested I switch to Roulette. Good one, that advice.

I’m quite proud of myself for pulling out with RM 1,500 (of which RM 500 was my initial bankroll e.g. my money) for a RM 1,000 nett win.

It’s not much but it’ll help me with some expenses I’ve been putting off like credit card bills. ‘Tis desperate times, my friends for me to do this. :x

Thanks Genting! :)

  1. Well at least you won something…
Last time i gamble at Genting….
    I quit when I won…

    • Yeah, I just bet small amounts right now.

I don’t have the extra cash to do the previous high rolling stunts that I did – with 5 figures on a single bet.

That was insane and totally irrational.

It’s actually makes more sense to look at trends instead of just putting it blindly.

      Cheers mate! :)

  2. Phewwww!!!! For once, you did not lose everything. Broken the jinx, eh? Told you to stop when the gong was good…

    • Indeed! :)

I was betting against the house time and time again last time, irrationally putting bets against the trend.

This time I just bet small, for fun and do it rationally, by actually looking at the trend (it was 1-18 3/4 of the time).

      Cheers buddy! :)

  3. It’s always the best if one gambles within one’s financial budget for the game. Always go small and never for once revert to the old habits.

I’m surprised that you didn’t stop when you got to 1,670. The difference of 670 is quite a lot… you can even do quite a number of things with it.

    • Indeed! :)

I did have the bank balance to bet desperate 5 figure sums to get back from a losing streak but that’s a really, really stupid thing to do coz it’s my condo fund.

      I’m never doing that again.

Oh, it’s actually RM 170 not RM 670.

The total amount I walked out with = RM 1,500 (but RM 500 of that is my bankroll e.g. my own money) thus
The total amount I actually won = RM 1,000

I just put that final bit down coz I told myself to keep 1k nett win and left after I lost that last round.

      Cheers Ciana! :)

  4. wow so lucky on that day! :)

  5. Congrats bro! I just blew $300 at the blackjack table some weeks back. Just so difficult to walk away when I am winning, this desire to keep pushing my luck :(

    • Thanks bro! :)

Yeah, I can relate to that feeling, the trick is to just set an amount that you want to win and then just leave when you do that.

I can’t say it works all the time though, my set amount was RM 1,000 win, so I left after that, after one final bet where I pushed my luck too (lost, and left).

It’s hard but it can be done. Leave when you’re winning bro.

      All the best! :)

  6. yeeeess mister HB….
    come to meeeee……
RM500 or RM50,000, doesnt matter boy, I will still gladly welcome you……

Just come as you are bro, don’t hide behind anonymity. :)

Cheers and have a great week mate!

  7. Hate to be the one who spoils the mood, but it’s best not to go back to the habit.

    Cheers.

    • No worries mate! :)

You are who you are, but I still reckon it’s way better odds than the 4D that we bought that time. Heh.

      Cheers man!

  8. how did you take the pic inside the casino?

    • Good question mate. Heh!

I did it surreptitiously of course, cell phone camera.

I don’t recommend it though, I think most casinos don’t allow photography inside – the ones that do that I’ve seen are in London, Germany, Holland etc – European countries.

Anyway, I don’t go that often, it’s all for fun, haven’t gambled in a while so I was actually quite apprehensive when I took that photo. Haha.

      Cheer mate! :)

  9. im the one who told u to stop baccarat and focus on roulette since you’re luckier on that game. and your welcome :D went up last night and lost 2k, oh well i’ve also stopped my high rolling days. only playing like rm300 per hand on baccarat compared to 500 to 4k per hand last time. last month was awesome though cos i was riding a dragon on two tables side by side. won like 5k :)

    • Yeah, it was someone from the previous comments!

      …ah, so it’s you.

      Thanks for that bro! :)

Yup, I’m just irrational on Baccarat so I guess Roulette would be a better bet – spreading it out instead of trying to buck the house.

Yeah, me too, can’t afford the high roller lifestyle anymore.

Nice! A 5k win is a good net bro. :)

      Cheers Jason!

  10. There is almost no chance you couldn’t become wealthy via casino, it’s only a form highly-priced entertainment. Best not taking too seriusly especially in desperate time, be careful brother.

    • Hey, thanks for the advice bro. :)

      I really appreciate it.

Yeah, I know what you mean, I haven’t been to the casino in a loooong time and when I do, I’m just betting for fun e.g. small sums.

I would have left if I had lost, the days of chasing losses are also over.

      Cheers mate!

  11. Ahhh…the house always wins in the end. Good for you though.

    • Heh! Indeed mate.

That it does, the house *always* wins in the end.

      That’s why casinos flourish.

I just play for fun now when I’m there – got a free room and a couple of friends so we went up for the weather.

      Cheers! :)

  12. Oh! You should have followed your instincts and win BIG!! Haha!! I am bad at gambling so I won’t even trust my instincts! LOL!

    • Heh! Yeah, if it was the past I really would have just went with my instincts since it’s not a lot of money (back then)…

…but it is now that I’m saving up for important things.

I don’t think there’s any good or bad, just statistics. I was lucky, that’s all.

      Cheers mate! :)

  13. btw the current genting rm500 chips looks exactly like the one in macau. dam copycats hahaha

    • Eh really? Which casino in Macau?

I’ve been to Macau and Genting has different types of RM 500 chips (at least that I’ve seen) – it depends on where you’re playing.

If I recall correctly, the International Room has different RM 500 chips from the ones at Genting Casino at First World Hotel.

It’s a mode subdued pastel purple instead of this garish color. The markings and size is similar to the RM 100 ones (that’s universal across Genting).

      Cheers mate! :)

  14. i am doing genting casino as living … believe or not .. i have being doing this for several years … have ppl inside … every winning 30% goes to them … i will share my part with them … !! many ppl will be thinking that why dun i keep it for my self … !! sorry … the genting AM already warn me … dun wan to see me bet by myself anymore ….if i bring customer …doesnt matter.. anyway … capital is rm2000 …. how much u want to win in a week .. u just tell me .. i will do it … !!
