You have credit cards for gas, food and other dedicated stuff. There’s even dedicated cards for travelers but usually they don’t go across the board in airlines e.g. they’re fixed to a particular airline. Travelers like me like the flexibility to choose so this one is perfect for me.

The thing that really piqued my interest is the ability for you to convert your points to various airlines!

(actually, that wasn’t the first thing that caught my eye – it was the name in the sample credit card – the generic name they used is my brother-in-law’s name)

standard chartered worldmiles

The Standard Chartered WorldMiles card earns you 1 WorldMiles Point for every RM 3 local retail purchase or RM 2 overseas retail purchase. You can then convert the points on a 1:1 basis with three different frequent flyer loyalty miles/points (of which I own all three, amongst other frequent flyer cards).

1 WorldMiles Point can be converted to:

  • 1 Malaysia Airines Enrich Mile
  • 1 Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Mile
  • 1 AirAsia BIG Point

This is the ultimate selling point for me. I honestly got so excited that I want to make this my regular primary credit card.

As you all know, I travel quite a bit. It’s a hobby of mine. I’ll go so far as to say it’s my lifestyle. Thus, having a credit card that allows me to earn points for holidays and vacations and even convert those points to an airline of my choice is an *irresistible* attraction.

There’s even a 15% discount on Asiatravel hotel and land packages!

You use your credit card for large purchases, grocery shopping and bills anyway, so why not be rewarded while you’re at it? The best thing about the Standard Chartered WorldMiles card is that you get 25,000 BIG Welcome Miles instantly!

You’ll need to sign up to the AirAsia BIG Loyalty Programme (it’s their frequent flyer miles card) and once you have a BIG account, you’ll get 25,000 BIG Welcome Miles credited within 5 working days upon approval of your credit card application. It takes less than 5 minutes to sign up for a BIG account.

I agree, this is really, the credit card that takes you to more places, more frequently! It’s good when your credit card gives you more holidays indeed.

You can use the complimentary 25,000 BIG Welcome Miles to redeem AirAsia flights to Melbourne, Kathmandu, Seoul, Hong Kong, and many more. Thus, your first flight could very well be redeemed!

The 25,000 BIG Welcome Point promotion runs until 31st December 2013 but it’s good if you can get the credit card earlier so you can use the points on the various AirAsia promotional periods since the prices of tickets can fluctuate. I reckon you might as well keep it there for use when you’re planning a holiday!

You’ll definitely see me using this card as my primary credit card. I just love to travel and for all the cards I’ve seen, this is the best one for travelers! The promotion is only open to new card applications so I’m going to go for it. Sign up for the Standard Chartered WorldMiles card here. I know I just came back from a holiday, but I want to go for another one.

You can never be too rich, too thin, or have too many vacations. ;)

    • Yeah, it’s actually quite cheap to travel if you catch the good deals and have a credit card like this. :)

Loyalty points can accumulate really fast – I didn’t realize I had a lot of Enrich points from my business trips last time until I checked.

    • Yup, next vacation is already planned! :)

We’ve got the tickets and hotel for a long time dy. That’s the secret – get promos and use credit cards like this to accumulate more points to redeem for travel.

  1. This post will make my eyes green with envy! I admire your hobby, so costly one dei…. LOL
My friend bugged me recently to sign up with Stanchart too and redeem tickets to Korea. I have yet to check it out when that bank is only next street away from my house.

    • I travel a lot on promo fares and use a lot of loyalty points and credit cards like this one! :)

That’s how I can travel so much, it’s due to the combination of all that. It really can make a lot of difference mate!

Yeah, this is the best travel credit card I’ve seen so far. I like the instant 25,000 BIG Reward Points redemption, depending on the ticket fares, you can fly to places like Korea! :D

      • Haha! Indeed! :)

I would have thought you’ll be using online banking Rose! Most people I know do everything online now.

Of course the initial credit card application has to be done – but there’s lots of promo booths at malls for Standard Chartered Worldmiles.

I honestly haven’t been to a bank in a very, very long time, except for ATM withdrawals (which I usually do at petrol stations or 7 Eleven). I pay all my bills online. :D

        • Hi, Im so enjoy reading your blog here. Do you mind to share with me more details about the Standard Chartered Bank World Miles free 25,000 Air Asia Big Point? My card has been approved but yet to activate. Im considering for the free 25,000 Air Asia point to redeem the free flight ticket to Korea, Bangkok, Hongkong, etc. Im wondering whether this is true or not. Or is there any hidden charge behind of this. Are we really can use this free 25,000 air asia point to redeem free flight ticket to Korea, bangkok, etc?

          Thank you for your help.

    • Yeah, I have a friend who works in Standard Chartered in Sibu. :)

You can do online banking though – I never go to the bank itself for anything anymore, it’s too much of a hassle.

I do all my payments – credit card, bills etc online. :D

    • You’re a beach person! :D

I love the sand, sea and surf too but I also like mountains and skydiving (and most adrenaline sports).

A nice beach is always the best place to be during summer! I love it too!

  2. Would it be safe to say that you’re an adventurous traveler? I don’t need exotic trips either, but I certainly don’t fancy the beaches as much. What I like is the mountain and trees, providing me with the serenity and peace. Oh, and a tad bit of fresh air, too. =D

    • I am a traveler who likes culture too! :)

I like everything about travel – adventure, the people, culture, a different way of life. It’s why I travel so much – to absorb and experience new things.

Oh, you’re a mountain person then!

I love ski resorts too – had a ski lift pass most winters while I was studying in Melbourne for Mount Buller. The snowboarding there is great!

Here’s to more mountains, Ciana! :D

    • It’s all good! :)

I read on CNN that Malaysia has 3 of the world’s best beaches out of a list of 50 beaches in the world!

We have great beaches but I prefer the ones in Sabah though.

Thailand and Indonesia also has some great ones if you’re planning to go regional.

      Cheers Charmaine! :D
