It does’nt matter to me as long it a good stout for me. I got an Irish Pub down the street where I live that also serve great fish and chips wonderful meat pies. Durty Nellie on Irving St. in San Francisco.
I know you shock and depressed but look at it this way you will not have any lost weekend and weekdays from now on. It still not bad with certain kind of food. I like it with corned beef sandwich and chips when out with friends.
HB, No matter it still taste good. I have a somewhat funny question to ask. When there a game on like soccer or football do fans go crazy and beat up each other. Like other team won so loser team fans take it out on them. I see so many people in emergency ward in hospital with cuts and buises .
The security guards would say “I guese it Game Day again”. Some people they got beaten up and their sport shoes taken also with their team logo on and shirts and ect. In some way funny to those not so into sports.
Funny story. I heard one this guy team won so he found out of beers. He drank all up early and decided to go out for more beers. Guy live upstair so walking down trip down whole flight of stairs. Woke up in hospital and told doctor “That one trip I will never forget”.
Now it World Serial lot of drinks and foods to watch games. I like stouts with nacho and pizzas. Less alcohol is OK taste that matter.
Learned my lesson on alcohol. Ending up a Smash Head. Boy did it felt like it was smash or kick. Less alcohol in drinks is not bad at all. No more Smash Head for me.
So that more can be ordered before one is drunk. Where’s the fun eh if one is drunk after 2 bottles?!! Not only that, Guinness also have to “jap lap” if everyone is only buying 1 bottle. haha
wilson: I think I saw an ad campaign…tailored it to fit Asian tastes. This is the foreign export stout.
l2: I totally agree with that. π
Michale (Mike): I had a great (on tap!) Irish stout at Finnigan’s, but forgot the name. Will do the review soon. Cheers!
Vickie: Yeah, I like a full bodied stout instead of a beer from time to time. I’m more of a spirits person though.
Amy: Yeah, my sister is a doctor in Auckland Hospital in New Zealand. The most common injuries during weekends are facial wounds from beer bottles smashed to the head. They were actually considering a legislation to serve beer in paper cups, much like they do in stadiums during sports (to prevent people from applying the beer bottle to the cerebral cortex during heated disagreements ;)).
Cathy: Haha! I love what he said. Witty. π
Nok: Hmm…my alcohol tolerance is a bit on the high side so I need more to get less than sober, which is why I prefer spirits. I like it neat, straight up 40%.
Vennie: Yeah, but it somehow doesn’t taste the same. I really liked the Guinness Stout in the small short stubbies. It’s phased out now.
Andy: Indeed, those were the good old days. π
Tom: Not always.
Okay, most of the time. :p
eiling: It’s bad for people with high alcohol tolerance though. You have to drink more just to get slightly inebrieted and by that time, you’re so full you can’t drink anymore.
Which is why I’m more of a spirits person. Single malt when I can afford it, vodka when I can’t. π
KY: Haha! Yeah, I thought about that too. Instead of prosperity (8), now it’s a journey full of prosperity (68). π
Darren: Yeah, I just realized too. π
You know, to me, it all depends on what kind of food you are eating, or what you are doing. In the summertime (hot) when working or cooking outdoors, I like a light (pale lager and low alcohol beer) with seafood (shrimp, fish, oysters etc…) or barbequed pork, but in colder months ( like it is begining to get now in the US, a heavier, higher alcohol beer ( 8% or more) seems to taste better, especially with lamb, beef, or chicken stews or roasts. I mostly don’t like stouts that much anyhow, unless maybe with a grilled chesse sandwich on a very cold night, while sitting next to a fire and watching the snow fall with friends and loved ones.
Tom Robinson: Very nicely described, my friend. A beer for every occasion. Pairing beers with food works like pairing wine with food although wine lovers would hate to agree with that. π
Strategy. So that you won’t get drunk so easy and will order more.
wilson, when people are drunk, their judgment is impaired and WILL order more!

More to drink without being drunk that for sure.
Look back at the memory of 8% alcohol and say Cheer to the old days of 8% instead of 6.8% now.
Always drink to get drunk HB?
…6.8% is still just about the strongest beer you’d get in Australia.
Just because its stronger doesnt mean its better.

ahh, interesting. even more auspicious perhaps?
what they’ve reduce the alcohol percentage? oh man!
