Bubba Gump Shrimp Co is an eating establishment based on the Forrest Gump movie. I went there with PinkPorkChop for a late lunch just now.
I love the dΓ©cor inside Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. The ambience is great and I prefer the friendly service over TGIF. The outlet at The Curve has really friendly staff which beats TGIF any day.
Bubba Gump Shrimp Co is a renowned for their mind boggling games. The staff comes to your table with toothpicks and you answer the questions to the best of your capacity.
It should be noted that ALL of the questions are not straightforward. I shall share with you the answer to one – this requires moving two toothpicks to make up 100. The trick is to move 1+1+1+1 to 141 – 41 (just shift two toothpicks) so it comes up to 100. PPC and I cracked our brains to figure that out.
Camera tag! π
PPC wasn’t really hungry so we shared a plate of “I’M STUFFED!” Shrimp (RM 39.90). This is one of my favorite dishes in Bubba Gump – it’s large shrimp with crab, baked in garlic butter and topped with Monterey Jack cheese. It comes with a serving of Jasmine rice.
I also ordered “That Chocolate Thing” (RM 16.90) for us to share. I love the description – it goes “We’re not sure what to call it, but we know you’ll love it! A special jar of warm chocolate cake topped with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream, and drizzled with raspberry sauce. You’ll say I HAVE TO HAVE THAT CHOCOLATE THING!”.
The bill came up to RM 92.70, inclusive of our drinks – Run Forrest Run (RM 11.90) and Mango Sparkler (RM 11.90). It’s pretty reasonable considering the quality of the food and the great service.
Anyway, after the late brunch, we headed to Cineleisure to catch a movie. I felt really bad coz I overslept and PPC was waiting for me at the Curve – sorry! Unfortunately, there wasn’t any shows until late so we just took a photo with B.O.B. and headed back home.
I also bumped into PS (fixed! :)) while I was on my way back to the car. It’s always good to meet readers, thanks for saying hello. Cheers for reading! π
You took my baby cousin advice and gave it a go?
I can’t help laughing everytime when I see “Run Forrest Run!” tagline – it reminds me of napsa congress melbourne pubcrawl at Lygon St. We had quite a few bit (to drink) .. we got abit too high and ran like ‘Forrest’ at Lygon St. The diners along the street were screaming, run Forrest ruuuunn!! π
This is very nice.. The deco so unique! I love it.. I hope to discover more & more dining place like this. In Sibu not much outlet like this, but recently I found one.. Full House! Nice place to hang out so far.. π Still cant compare with Bubba Gump Shrimp Co..
I remember strolling along The Curve looking for food one night, looked up and saw the bigass ‘Bubba Gump Shrimp Co’ sign but was too lazy to figure out how to get up there π
Now that I know they’ve got most of the stuff I like (e.g. chocolate ice cream concoctions), will consider paying them a visit
Mind boggling games? If all the answers correct, is it the food will be FOC? LOL~ Would like to try one day. Very nice outlet!
lol i know the answer to that ahaha! xD
OMG, u blog about this? anyway thank god, i did not shop like crazzee during the 1 hour (more or less) of WAITING! π only bought few accessories hehe
Thanks for the lunch and i like the picture with BOB ….*arghh nooooo bob, don’t chew my head off…* okay lame == time to sleep. nitez
Eh? I jz went there for dinner jz now and ordered the exact same things (shared with my fren too). Freaky. =)
can anyone really finish the I’m stuff dish. . .dam . .it looks huge
I want That Chocolate Thing! Looks yummy! π
HB, Bubba Gump is where I go to about once a month since it not far in San Francisco. Look like menu is pretty much the same but prices seem less in Malaysia. My sister was in Curve but quit due to lost interest in it.
that chocolate thing looks yummy, and from the description, it seems yummy too… i love the movie…
hahaha the food looks yummy!
my friend is the manager there. he has been telling me how nice the store it hahaha..
will try it when Im at KL π
i agree with the line from the last photo.
cynthia and kian: Heh! Sounds like fun! π
I gotta try that fish head thing that your cousin recommended. This weekend perhaps. π
Shirley Snow: Bubba Gump is a huge franchise – they have outlets all over the world. It originated from the US. π
Cheryl: Ya, it’s an awesome place! I love going there, coz I love eating seafood.
Arrggghhhh…I forgot your photos! I’ll do it when I get back from work. π
Sweet Lavender: The questions takes a bit of thinking coz it’s not very straightfoward. It’s quite fun though. π
bryanlyt: Heh! Yup, and there’s another 4 triangles question – the answer is 4 (triangle) instead of making 4 actual triangles. π
PinkPorkChop: I’m sooooo sorry! π
I was out Saturday night and came back really, really late so I woke up late. My apologies!
Haha! I think you look damn cute in that Bob photo. Hey, I thought it’s Ooze? Gah, I just Googled – it’s Bob. Thanks for the correction.
erin: Eh, I should have gone last night then but I was incapacitated. π
Anyway, this week ya! See ya soon. π
foodcrazee: Yup, if you’re hungry enough. π
It’s not that big, but I might have trouble finishing it unless I’m really hungry.
Fumoffu: It’s delicious! The contrast between the warm chocolate cake (it tastes more like brownies) and the cold ice cream is awesome. π
Vickie: Yup, Bubba Gump only has one outlet in Malaysia – at the Curve. π
I like the food over there – probably the price is adjusted for Malaysia, it is not exactly cheap considering the average wage of the people here. π
cindy khor: It’s very nice! The hot brownies with the whipped cream and ice cream makes for a delicious contrast. π
Anthea: Yup, text me when you’re in KL and I’ll bring you there. π
Darren: I thought that was pretty inspirational too mate. π
That place has a very nice ambiance and deco but it’s a lil too packed. For that kinda food, I think it’s a little pricey.
*cough* cough* Don’t think it’s that reasonable for the portion and food ? Hehe! Aneway, nice jeans cutting! ;p
Wow, this is a great insight into the Malaysian counter part of Bubba Gump! Will definitely try it out here in the Philippines and review it too! “The Chocolate Thing” is something I’ve never seen before, I hope we have it here too!
eiling: Yeah, there were quite a few people there. It is a bit on the expensive side but I guess the service makes up for it. π
chefmel: Bubba Gump is kinda priced like TGIF and Chili’s – franchise operations. π
That would my favorite pair of jeans – Quiksilver. π
Carlos: Yup, it’s the only one in Malaysia. Bubba has a presence in Bali too, and some other places in Asia. Do check it out, I like their food, coz I like seafood. Cheers mate! π
it’s PS actually :)Nice to meet u!
haha people must be wondering who the hell is PPC to derserve a ‘public apology’??? okayla, its 99% about the restaurant (perasan betul) haha
Anyway, u said enough ‘sorry’ so no worries, appologies accepted π
hb is a direct or indirect approach better for picking up woman?
Actually, there is one in Sunway Pyramid….. π
BOB! i like BOB!! :DDD i wonder if they sell the real jello like toy fro Bob. lol~
PS: My apologies! Fixed. Thanks for saying hello, it was great to meet up with you. Sorry I was in a rush, had somewhere to go that day. π
PinkPorkChop: I have this thing about time. I am never late, which is why I felt so bad, especially since you don’t live in PJ. π
My bad, I should have just hit the sack after Sanctuary on Saturday, but I didn’t sleep until 6 am which was why I overslept on Sunday.
Thanks for being forgiving, Aries are not known for their patience. π
pm: Dude, you have asked me this question many, many times. Just be yourself mate. π
waiChing: Really???????? How come it’s not listed in the Bubba Gump official website? It says the only outlet in Malaysia is the one in Curve.
Jade Zheng: They do! We saw some M vs A merchandise (including jelly) on sale that day. But PPC was at the MA 3D screening so I didn’t get the tix. Eh, you watched dy or not? I wanna go for the 3D one. Gotta be weekend though, my working hours during weekdays is KILLER. Much like Carol’s. π
lol.. the one in sunway is suppose to be the the second largest in Asia and the 34th outlet worldwide. Perhaps it’s still new (only opened this year) so they didn’t update it on the web but you can googled it. π
waiChing: Interesting! I didn’t know that. Cheers! π
Run foresst run: it is funn how things work out. Where I live, grit are for breakfast, shrimps for supper and I had to be coerced into eating shrimp and grits. But they are great. Mmmm, Homer likes now… Just like octupus, or squid in sushi. (Sorry but i still do not like eel) Good stuff, just something I had never tried. Thanks for the nice pics, and the time it takes you to put together this website.
