…does flu

does flu

My apologies for the extended leave of absence. I have been positively sick for the last couple of days and dragged myself to see another doctor just now. I’m still running a fever of 39.5 degrees, which while better than the previous day, is still making me thirst like nothing else. Thus, the good doctor put me on 1,000 mg of cephalexin per day. Doctors giving antibiotics for what is essentially a viral infection (influenza comes from a virus although the doctor thought it was dengue at first) always puzzles me.

On another note, I’ve been having really weird fever dreams. I dreamt about…Sibu, of all things and the interesting thing is I always see it through rose tinted glasses. It’s like I (wonder of wonders) miss the place. That is pretty bizarre coz I never feel homesick. I’m not sure it’s homesickness per se, I hear you dream about your hometown when you’re really sick, it’s just one of those things.

Okay, enough crap, the only reason I got myself out of bed is coz I miss writing. See ya on the flipside folks.

  1. remember to stay in bed and take those meds. i think that would be the fastest way to getting back to your healthy form. although i do miss your writing, but just get well 1st…

  2. They usually give you the antibiotics because your immune system is weak and they don’t want whatever viral infection you have to develop into a bacterial infection.
    From my understanding anyway.

  6. Many years ago I read a book that states we shouldn’t eat antibiotics because it kills the good bacteria in our body. So even tho it does boost up your immune system it might take a wile for the good bacteria to be back in your body – which is not very good. Hehe. Don’t know how true is it but i seldom finish my dose of antibiotics.

  7. 100 plus works like a charm!
I always think it sucks that sick peoplke have to get up and see the doctor themselves. Sick people shouldn’t be allowed to move, man…hehehe… That’s how I feel when I’m sick, at least. πŸ™‚

cwee: I’m thinking H1N1 wouldn’t be too shabby considering the low mortality rates. The doctor thought it was dengue. πŸ™‚

Jenny: 100 Plus? I used to SWEAR by the stuff when I was on meth – it helps with the crash. Now everytime I drink 100 Plus, I think of meth, and not in a good way too coz I don’t even like that stuff anymore. πŸ™‚
It’s like codeine, I honesltly feel like PUKING when I even SMELL the distinctive paracetamol from the bottles. I swear to God, I was looking at a buprenorphine tablet ealier this year and I was having dry retches. The last time I took opiates, it took me a GOOD 30 minutes to just hold it down and not puke.
I guess that’s the end of my meth and opiate career. πŸ˜‰
Trey: Haha! I may have other (legal) pharmaceuticals but for many reasons, I’ve ceased to post about that chapter of my life. Maybe later in FINE. πŸ™‚
