I’m currently staying in Taman Anggerek after one night at a hotel in Kota Tua which cost us IDR 420,000 (about RM 140). It was a really last minute decision, we headed out to Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) to meet with friends and it was suddenly decided that we’ll just crash at their place.
It was about 12:30 pm (!) at that time. We rushed back to the hotel and checked out just in time before heading back to Condominium Taman Anggerek. I grabbed the toothbrush and shaver from the hotel before checking out and went to Matahari – a departmental store here – to get a towel for IDR 37,000 (RM 12).
Here’s the view from the 26th floor β the view of Jakarta Barat (West Jakarta) is quite polluted but it looks like it’s going to be an awesome place to stay. I haven’t couch surfed in a while.
Thanks for having us Eric + wife and Yong Ming! π

you’re welcome to couchsurf at my apartment if you’re ever stateside too. π
Thanks mate! π
…and vice versa, if you ever come to KL, you’ll always be welcome at my place.
Cheers bro! π
Wow! You’re in Indonesia now?
Yeah, I’m in Jakarta right now. π
I’ll be staying here for a couple of days, came on a last minute trip with my friend.
jakarta population is quite densed it seems.all i can see is houses :S
There’s a veritable mass of people and honking vehicles in Jakarta.
It’s a huge city, but I’ve been to a couple of nice places and met new people. π
…and I still have a couple more days to go. Tomorrow is a new day!
Nice place, your friends have… Glad you’re enjoying yourself there.
Yeah, it’s a really nice condo, it’s new with nice units.
Thanks mate, see you soon! π
Wow, you’re really lucky that your friends were willing to have you over at such a last minute notice. An acquaintance there once warned us that if we were to go out, don’t wear watches or anything that’s worthy of being stolen.
Your friend’s condo sure looks better than the hotel (can’t remember the name) that we stayed in, and I’m sure he can bring/introduce you to the tourist areas in Jakarta. =)
Yeah, it’s kind of them to put us up at their home. π
Jakarta can be a bit dodgy in that sense – muggings and such. However, I haven’t experienced it personally, only heard stories.
KL has a spate of muggings/attempted kidnappings in broad daylight from shopping malls too. π‘
Yeah, the condo is much nicer than the hotel we stayed at the first night. π
i’ve never done something like this before because i like my personal space. π
Well, when you’re traveling it’s nice to meet new people and get to know them.
I don’t mind couchsurfing or backpacking – I’ve even slept at airports and train stations while backpacking. π
HB, I learn when traveling stay in hotels that have club members lounges. You could get upgrade on room for it also. I stay at Intercontinental hotel in Hong Kong and had free buffet breakfast, afternoon tea which all you can eat type lunch and cocktail evening which all you drinks and food. I save lot money instead eating out and spend on shopping instead. Menu change everyday so it like restaurant style.
I’m not a big fan of traveling that way – not a shopping person but more an experience person.
I’ll rather eat outside where the locals eat. We cooked today (or at least my friend did) while some others got 4 bebek goreng that’s really famous in Jakarta.
We finished everything – 7 people over for dinner. π
Hope you’ll enjoy my hometown! π
