Ferrero Rocher – World Record Attempt

ferrero rocher

I have been thinking about beating the current record for Most Ferrero Rocher chocolates eaten in one minute which stands at a meager five (5) chocolates consumed. I have gone through the details and to quality, you have to unwrap, eat, and swallow the chocolates within one minute. This is my attempt:

I was too ambitious and ended up biting off more than I could chew (haha) but it’s quite possible to beat this record and get my name in the Guinness World Records book with a bit of practice. This was done in the afternoon while making mooncakes (post up tomorrow). I’ve been a bit busy lately making mooncakes, being the best buddy (which is different from best man – it’s a HK custom that has found its way here) for a friend’s wedding, attending said friend’s wedding, and the Mid Autumn Festival lined up tomorrow.

Here are some selected posts from HDS:

Telekom Malaysia – very efficient one!

Project Bachelor Breakfast – Bacon omelet with Edam cheese

Cheers all! Update again tomorrow.

  1. This is a quite funny post. I like the Chinese conversation as background.
Chi Dong Xi Bu Yao Jiang Hua. LOL
Good luck Huai Bin. Maybe I should try too and see how many I can eat in 1 min. πŸ˜‰

  2. I didn’t know you love chocolate so much. I use to work when I was teenager at Godiva Chocolate Store in San Francisco and have to taste all the chocolate candies in the store to know of favors of them. I gain in 3 months about 15 lbs from it. Get to take some extra candies from there home too. Manager ask if I want some or they toss away so load up on many boxes of fine choclate.
So much for part time job as teenager. Loss all the weights thank goodness but I still love chocolates.

  3. English subtitles
HB: Tell me when it reaches one minute.
    Camerawomen: Mmm… (okay)
Female voice: He claims he can put 7 Ferrero Rocher chocolates in his mouth?
Camerawomen: No, he’s going to swallow it all.
    HB: Four (to myself)
HB: Has the one minute mark passed?
    Camerawomen: Not yet. 30 seconds.
HB: (Hmms in wonder). That’s fast. (incoherent mumbling)
Camerawomen: Don’t talk when you eat. (a common Chinese phrase used in jest here)
Camerawomen: You should have no problems eating 7 pieces in one minute, right?
    HB: I can’t swallow!
Camerawomen: (laughs, joined in by other female voice) My hands are shaking.
    HB: I can’t swallow…
Female voice: Just put them in your mouth.
HB: No, I have to swallow it to qualify (for the record).
(incoherent mumbling) It’s possible but I have to drink a lot of water first. I wonder if they allow that (drinking water during the one minute).
Camerawomen: Your one minute is up.
I have to rush off to my friends wedding reception. Reply comments later. Cheers!

  6. I remember still that time trying to enter an eating contest and boy gotten so sick from it. Trying to eat the most donuts I think got so far two dozens and that it. Worst case of over eating stomach ache ever. Took me 2 to 3 days to recover. Now when I hear of eating contests no way again. So much in trying to get famous.

  7. BiGMcD: I know I can do it, I just need more practise. πŸ™‚
Tom: Yeah, I thought it would be nice to be in the world records too, even if it’s just for speed eating chocolates. πŸ˜‰
ow that would be cool getting ur name in next years world records
fish fish: Heh! Thanks, fish fish. They were speaking in a combination of Hokkein (to themselves) and Mandarin (to me).
Okay, we both try to get in the world records. But give me 1 year head start can? πŸ˜‰
I get in the 2009 book and you can go for the 2010 book. πŸ™‚
    Amy: Everyone likes chocolates. πŸ™‚
That has got to be a fun job as a teenager. Godiva chocolates. Mmm…those are mighty fine chocolates indeed, and you get to bring them home too. Nice! πŸ™‚
    Yee Hou: I ate 6 or 7 so it’s 6 or 7 bucks. πŸ˜‰
Pixeldoll: English subtitles provided as requested. Here at sixthseal.com, we always aim to please. πŸ˜‰
janel: Yeah, I do. I speak Hokkien too, and a little bit of Bahasa Malaysia. English is just my strongest language since I can’t read or write Chinese and my BM is honestly quite terrible.
Choonie: Yeah, I ate them all in ICU at Normah. πŸ™‚
Thanks Choonie! I love Ferrero Rocher chocolates. BTW, an interesting anecdote, after that I dated one of the ICU nurses and she said she was looking at the Ferrero Rocher chocolates beside my table during the shift coz she loves them but didn’t dare ask me for any. I would have given her some…in exchange for a morphine shot. πŸ˜‰
clementwpy: Hey, that’ll be great. Ferrero Rocher chocolates are not exactly cheap, so if there’s a sponsor, we can really practise. πŸ™‚
Lainie: Thanks for the vote of confidence lains! Much appreciated. πŸ™‚
KY: I have to ask…I don’t think they’ll allow that though coz it’ll make it too easy. If you can drink while eating (like how they allow you to drink in hot dog eating competitions) there’s gotta be people out there who can swallow as fast as they can open the chocolates, so the record would probably be like 30 in a minute or something.
cbenc12: A worm! Ferrero Rocher has great quality control, I’ve never eaten a bad batch.
    Happy mooncake festival, buddy. πŸ™‚
Vickie: You’ll get a sugar rush and then a sugar crash. It feels horrible during the crash. πŸ™‚
It’s not wise to binge on chocolates unless it’s for a noble cause…in this case, to break world records. πŸ˜‰
Thomas: Two dozen donuts is pretty impressive. 24 donuts over how many minutes? Yeah, if you really go all out during eating contests, you’ll bound to throw up after that and be sick for quite a while. πŸ™‚

  8. LOL That is very smart of you. Then I will have to challenge you, which will be more difficult compared to only 5. You go ahead first with the 2009, I will see if I am able to expand my mouth and the cavity in one year time. πŸ˜›
Oh, by the way, do we get any reward for going into the record?

  9. fish fish: Haha! I’m scared that you’ll be better than me, so I wanted a one year head start so I can at least get my name in the book before you beat my record. πŸ™‚
Nope, there’s no reward – the reward is the record itself. You get your name in the book and recognition as the fastest/best/whatever in that category in the world. That’s reward enough for me.
