F5 my memory

I was browsing through my dSLR, looking at the photos taken last Saturday night and I noticed a very disturbing thing…

shalome montage

I remember most of the photos I’ve taken that night. However, there were a series of photos of Yiling drinking a full jug of water that I did not remember taking.

yiling scull

There were 32 photos in all – burst mode. I thought it was someone using my dSLR since I was pretty messed up by 10:30 pm so I checked the time on the photos.

12:01 AM.

It must be someone else since I don’t remember anything from 10:30 pm onwards so I assumed I passed out…

…but wait!

shalome mem loss

There’s a photo of me. The timestamp says 12:14 AM. I was apparently still awake (though the definition of “awake” is used very liberally here) then. I can’t for the life of me remember anything from 10:30 pm till 3 am in the morning.

I know I got home at 3:30 am and I must have survived the drive since I’m writing this and there are no dents or scratches on my car so I assume I didn’t run into anybody or anything. I can’t even remember driving home! Dahsyat-nya

I need someone to F5 my memory from that night. I have been through this before, and during episodes of ethanol induced amnesia I usually end up behaving very badly.worries

Oh well, to my credit, I haven’t drank a single drop since that night.

  1. hey yo dude..
FYI..the pics of Yiling drinking that jug of water, u held the camera and snapped it like that..in which i was the one who told u to snap it..
then that photo of u with Yiling, Jane helped out in the snapping, which i was too tipsy to do so..
and err..at around 1am if not mistaken, we put u in your car, locked u inside and let u sleep in there while the 4 of us continued yamcha at the mamak..
then..all people ciao-ed..i was holding your car key..i put the key in the grab of your hand and i reverse-locked your car..i left you there traveling in wonderland..
then i tried to call u for the next 12-hours but couldn’t get you..so yeah..glad you got home safe and sound πŸ˜€

  2. YilingL: I know! I didn’t even know how I got home. Hell, I didn’t even remember driving home!
I woke up the next day, found a tapau packet of nasi kandar half eaten on my table, went down to check on the car. It seems that nothing untoward happened. =D
Yatz: Whoa! Thanks for the F5, mate! πŸ™‚
Why did Yiling drink a whole jug of water? Did anyone else have to drink an entire jug?
Ya, thanks for keeping my car key, I would have probably driven off if that hadn’t happened and at 1 am that would have been a Bad Thing (TM) since the ethanol hasn’t really worn off yet. I was still messed up at 3 am!
I haven’t touched a drink ever since then though…the main reason being I don’t know or remember how I drove home and that’s pretty fucking dangerous shit to be pulling.

  3. ShaolinTiger: Yeah, and of all things, the only thing that made me quit drinking for real (not sure how long it’s gonna last though, so no promises) is the knowledge that I drove home in a state where I was in no absolutely no condition to drive. I heard from the mamak the second day that I was driving all over the place and ran the curb when I went to get some food. Party hearty, but party safe. I haven’t gotten the hang of the second so I figured I’ll stop for a while. πŸ™‚
Coki: Yes, I do remember you. πŸ™‚
It’s only a few hours that I lost from my memory from that night. It happens from a spike in BAC (Blood Alcohol Content). Drank too much Macallan. :S

  5. Tian Chad: It actually feels good to not drink. It’s easier to wake up in the morning. πŸ™‚
    Simon Seow: TTDI.
Yatz: Very descriptive play by play of the night. Haha! I don’t remember playing the cards, but I’m glad I didn’t drink the water. I would have puked. πŸ™‚
andrew: Nice! Some surprises in store eh?

  6. Hb: I am allowed to comment? For awhile, when i broke my arm an ribs on both sides, ( twice) except for some very good friends, you were were one of my my contacts with reality. What a blessing you have been. Everything is calcified, and six weeks is a good time to start getting out again. (Well, four for my right side). Try sleeping in a chair for 6 weeks. But then, I thought, how many persons would trade, locally. When they are sleeping under bridges? It has been very cold , lately. I am very lucky. Hope you are well. God Bless you HB. all I did was google “camel meat” several years ago. You know, you are a great guy. who has tought me much, along with your many friends, thogh I turned 50 this year. Thanks for the help. Getting better every day.

If I have enough money, that is. πŸ˜‰
tom: Hey tom, I’m glad to hear that you’re getting better! πŸ™‚
That’s great news indeed. Well, 50 isn’t really that old, how did the date with the 52 year old go?
I hope something good came out of it, coz you sure deserve it.
Take care and be well, my friend. πŸ™‚
janelgrace: I know! You want to donate money to the “Buy HB a new shirt” fund? πŸ˜‰
It’s getting pretty notorious, that G2k purple cardigen. Haha!

  9. 21, HB. But not for ever. Don’t double down. The house always wins at that game. But still I play the odds, myself. Dumber than a doorknob I guess. Hope you are ok. Best regards, from some one who has been there ( and still is, you gotta keep workin at it you know; shit is hard to get off your back -I mean alcohol and other stuff you know, I am too cheap to gamble much). Cheers, gonna have a beer now. Aside from the sermon, that is neat looking burled walnut on the table. Or is that birdseye maple. I like woodworking. Building some stuff now. It keeps me out of trouble. (ps, I read everyones comments – they are very good)

  10. tom: Good to hear that mate. We weren’t gambling for money, it’s to drink. I have learnt the hard way that the house ALWAYS wins. Down 35k in December 07 when I got released and went to a casino here.
It’s good to hear you’re occupying yourself.
    Take care my friend!
xin: Squirrels in KL? I would be more likely to run over a deer. πŸ˜‰
Though I’ll rather run over the former than the latter any day. The latter would seriously fuck up your car. πŸ™‚
Myhorng: Yeah, the wonders (?) of rapid Blood Alcohol Concentration spikes. πŸ˜‰
Chicklord: It’s not sleep walking per se. I just can’t remember. Oh and good news, someone found my phone! It was discarded after A LOT of international calls (to Indonesia) were made and a Good Samaritan picked it up and called my dad (it’s in the phone book, while my number isn’t) who in turn called me. I’m picking it up tomorrow. =D
chris: Yeah mate, I know. I had to get home and I had impaired judgment.
It’s all good though, I haven’t drank since then. πŸ™‚
