A rather tragic weekend

tragic weekend fun

I went out drinking with Jan, Sam and Shawn on Saturday night after dinner at Bubba Gump. During the course of the night, I consumed enough ethanol to kill a small horse but somehow managed to maintain my sobriety.

tragic weekend absinthe

It was a night of Bloody Mary’s, absinthe, frozen martinis, shooters, Flaming Lamborghinis and various other cocktails and at the end of the session (and after racking up a staggering RM 566.96 bill); Jan got rather inebriated and fell down while puking on my shoes.

The problem is she fell flat on her face into the tarmac outside Telawi Street Bistro.

tragic weekend face

I tried to grab her, but missed and scraped my hand instead. Thus, I bundled her into my car sans seatbelt on the front seat while I drove back.

tragic weekend hand

Thank God, Allah, Buddha, Confucius, Gaia, Sol Invictus et al that I didn’t run into any road blocks that night.

tragic weekend end

I cannot imagine talking my way out of a failed breathalyzer test with a passed out girl in my car. I think it would be a catastrophe of epic proportions if I were stopped by the police. Since I didn’t get apprehended, the damage level has been downgraded to merely tragic. πŸ˜‰

  1. ouch.
looking at your pics brings back many ‘drink and crash’ bad memories. two smashed pair of specs, a few handphones into drains/missing/shattered and not to mention the occasional lost wallets.
becareful hb. do what i usually do: when one drinks, the other shouldn’t. well at least not too much.
2nd pic absinthe. hate the shitty normal fork they use. don’t they have a proper absinthe spoon? fail haha.

  3. RM 566 + for a night of drinking is a big money! Especially when you puke it after you got drunk! :s Ahhhh, i’ll rather buy myself an expensive t shirt or … go to Prime for their steak!
Oh btw, you can also donate to ChefMel Foundation. LOL. I am BROKE. lol

  4. chung: It’s physics: Mass x velocity. I only had one arm, I couldn’t catch her so we both fell down. I still have a bump on my head. Heh!
eiling: Yeah, but I’m pretty alright, very tolerant to pain. Jan is okay too, which is good. πŸ™‚
    bongkersz: Indeed bro! πŸ™‚
KL Chong: There are some places selling it but it’s just alcohol to me. πŸ™‚
    JolynGoh: Thanks Jolyn! πŸ™‚
    Shirley Snow: Cheers! πŸ™‚
seth.frostheart: Hmm…I won’t pass a breathyser test but I wasn’t drunk. I was still in control of my motor functions. It was just the suddenness, the mass x velocity was too much for my one arm to handle, so we both fell down. :S
cindy khor: It’s not that bad…will be more careful next time. Which reminds me, I need to send my car to the car wash. She puked on my front seat too. πŸ™‚
chefmel: Haha! I’m broke too and I need to go Sri Lanka at the end of the month. πŸ™‚
ChefMel foundation eh? Tax deductible or not? πŸ˜‰
Doris: Haha! Oh well, different views. πŸ™‚
KY: I was drinking slow that night coz I needed to drive, so it was over the entire night me thinks. Left at about 2-3 am. πŸ™‚
custodes: Hmm…”wrong” and “right”. It’s all relative, isn’t it? πŸ™‚
    dawn: No worries Dawn! πŸ™‚

  5. HB, lucky it she puke it out. Must had a hangover next day. Mix drinks is what happened. I just drink one type only for the evening.

  6. annant: Heh! Technically I wasn’t that fucked up, it just so happens that it was too fast for me to react properly so I fell down with her. πŸ™‚
foodcrazee aka mike: Cheers bro! I’m laying off the stuff for a while. πŸ™‚
Jac: Eh? No la, this is Saturday night. The abrasions has already scabbed over by the Up screening. πŸ™‚
Michael (Mike): I don’t really get hangovers unless I really do something stupid like drink a bottle of single malt neat over an hour.
She seems fine the next day too, though she couldn’t really eat dinner.

  7. Jeff: Heh! Indeed bro, it was kinda fun but I won’t be repeating it anytime soon. πŸ˜‰
custodes: Yup, and I could have killed someone while driving home sleep deprived from work too. Sleep deprivation is even worse than DUI. You could have killed someone driving while sleep deprived too.

  8. adui, the bruises on her face looks like she just got beaten, and you’re the domestic abuser la. next time if you 2 go out, make sure only one of you drink la, it’s not safe drunk driving all the time.

  9. calvaryzone: It shouldn’t…abrasions aren’t that bad compared to cuts and such. πŸ™‚
Tian Chad: I won’t be. I don’t drink like a fish if I know I have to be responsible for getting someone home. Designated driver mentality. πŸ™‚
We had friends with us, they kindly got the car and drove us to our parking (which was quite far away and I don’t think I can lug her that far in that condition).
Simmy: Haha! You know, that was our joke at first. πŸ™‚
It’s okay, I know how much I can drink and still be relatively sober (as in sober enough to drive). πŸ™‚
ktx: Yup, I’m heading to Sri Lanka on the 28th. I’m getting the lowdown from ShaolinTiger (who’s going there this weekend) before I go too. I’ll give you the 411 when I come back. Cheers! πŸ™‚

Yeah, there is, abrasions…not very easy to heal coz of the place (lots of movement on the wrist).

  12. kennhyn: It’s the public transportation here. In Melbourne, there’s a midnight bus that runs each hour, on the hour till morning to bring home the ethanol impaired. πŸ™‚

  14. tom r: Yeah, it’s alright, it’s just very hard to heal coz of the location – wrist and I think it just might be getting worse instead of better due to my philosophy of generally not taking medication or putting balm unless it’s recreational in nature. πŸ˜‰
I probably will get a Band Aid or something later. I don’t want it to turn into a festering wound.
Have a great time on Halloween! πŸ™‚

  16. Not a tragic week. A bad week, maybe? But your and I Bad week is still ten times better than many on the street. Really, Give thanks, and help those you can. I did not have to go dumpster diviing for my evening meal, nor will I have to wrap up in a cast off, flea ridden blanket on a park bench tonight. I’ll sleep in a bed, albiet not on 600 thread count sheets. Mine just come from Kmart or the Dollar store. But they are mine. And I would share with any who needs it. Tomorow AM I will drink a glass of cranberry juice, eat a piece of toast( with peanut butter and a little strawberry jam. With a mug of tea. Not much, but I will do these things cause I am free. Not locked up cause of a stupid thing like DUI. I am not saying dont drink, cause I do, but dont drive. OK . Please A tragic week would be be putting a loved one in the dirt. Like I did last month. Twice. I hate funerals. Especially when they are young. Tom

  17. Getting stopped by police should have been the least of your worries. You could have hit and killed some innocent people should you get into an accident in your drunken state, have you stopped to think about that?

  18. tom r: My friend, I am very moved by your comment. That gives much insight indeed, thanks for sharing that. I will try not to drink and drive. Yes, you’re right, it’s better than putting a loved one in the dirt. Apologies. I wish you well my friend, and do hit the big 80. πŸ™‚
dolly: I know! I felt so bad about that incident. :S
Don’t drink and drive!: I understand your concern, but drinking and driving and driving under the influence are two different things (not to mention driving while intoxicated) which makes it 3 different situations. I drive safe when I’m drinking, but I’m trying to change that. Postition: Designation driver, paid by the hour. πŸ˜‰
