The opiate of the masses

I used to chat on MSN while attending mass. I know, I know, heresy. :p I didn’t want to go (I’m not even Catholic) but I went for the sake of my ex-gf who was convinced she’ll spend at least another trillion years or so in purgatory if she misses even one evening mass. It was mind-numbingly boring, but with my Pocket PC and a GPRS connection, I managed to chat with people on Pocket MSN. It helped make those monotonous sessions where you just want to gouge your eyeballs out and run screaming from the place of worship into a more civilized and polite tapping on the screen.

I misplaced my Pocket PC but I haven’t lost those monotonous moments.

I’m glad I’ll be one of the first to get the Xpax Prepaid BB Curve 8520 – now I can IM to my heart’s content wherever I go with Windows Live Messenger, Google Talk, Yahoo! Messenger, ICQ (yes, I have an account – 7345320) and more!

It’ll sure make those dull moments (secular or otherwise) more bearable. ;)

  1. Whoa.. BB now on prepaid. I gotta try. Lol.. Please let me know if it’s worth to get the prepaid. Does it come packaged with a BB Curve? Can change to BB Bold tak? :P

  2. Do you mean gouge? Gorge is to “eat hungrily”, which I guess will entertain the church-goers if you suddenly ate your own eyeballs.

  3. maggot: Yup, it’s finally coming to the prepaid. Xpax is targeting the younger segment with this plan.
It’s packaged with the BB Curve 8520. :)
suituapui: I think I still have scorch marks from touching the holy water, but otherwise I left unscathed. ;)
Cheers: Hmm…the details about pricing has not been released yet, but word is, it’s gonna be pretty affordable! :)
ladybug: Eh, you’re right, typo there. It’s gouge. Haha! Thanks for spotting that! :)

  4. HB, you should get paid for promoting products. Now I want to get one for going out doing researching. How the RAM in it? My laptop is too much to carry around at time. Of course wireless.

  5. Hm, I must be one of the rare person who happened to have in excess of RM600 credit in my phone. I’m not very ‘sociable’ in that way. ;)

  6. clement: Eh, it’s not? It says BB 8520 in the video. :)
Kim Ong: Yeah, am really looking forward to getting one soon! :)
Vickie: Hmm…I’ll have to look up on the product specs, will write more about it soon. :)
Cheers: Whoa! My cell phone bills every month is a killer. :)
chefmel: I don’t mind some pastors, they’re good in giving sermons – fire, brimstone type, I like. I just don’t like massive organized religion (no offence to Catholics) with ritualistic elements. :)

  7. I don’t like the kind who are … erm very enthusiastic and extremist kind of pastors. The kind … that literally shout when they wanna emphasize something. Like how I always tell my mum “as if he met Jesus Christ.” :P

  8. Kristin: Haha! I just like it coz of the death and destruction and I like the OT God, full of jealousy and righteous wrath instead of the “blessed is the meek” Beatitudes in the NT. ;)
chefmel: I love those pastors, mostly for entertainment, coz I’m a bit of an extremist person myself. At least it keeps me awake. ;)
Haha! I love your comment to your mom. :)
