Running on empty

running on empty

I have a tendency to chuck stuff into my car’s dashboard. I was driving my friend back last night and took a folder out. I had a stack of paper completely blocking the dash – didn’t even know I was low on fuel before I decided to check the fuel indicator.

I was horrified to see it was blinking and way past Empty.

It was a little after midnight and I managed to get to the nearest gas station before it actually stalled. I restarted and *just* managed to get to the pump.

Phew.

    • Heh! Yeah, I imagine. πŸ™‚

Someone suggested putting a can of gas in the car. I’ve done that before in Sarawak on long road trips coz gas stations are few and far in between towns and the road isn’t exactly great (it’s not the PLUS highway).

However, I’ve come to think of it as a fire hazard coz of an unplanned BBQ incident. πŸ˜‰

    • I smoke in my car so I’m a bit wary about putting high octane flammable liquid inside my car.

I’m sure it’ll be fine in the boot, I used to keep one there while exploring rural Sarawak during weekends but there was this once where we decided to use gasoline as a fire starter for a BBQ.

It didn’t work very well (meaning it worked too well) and now I can’t look at the bottle the same way. Haha.

      Fire hazard. πŸ™‚

    • Wah that’s hardcore Sherrie.

I do it coz I keep the “important” (or stuff I’m going to use soon) on the dash and it piles up sometime, that’s all. πŸ˜€

    • Haha! That’s a good way of looking at it. πŸ˜‰

Yeah, the car actually stalled which was the second time this happened. First time I had to get a friend to come over with a bottle of gasoline, that was in Kuching and I was 30 minutes away from town. 😑

    • Well, not when the folder was still there but I can guesstimate how fast I’m driving since I’ve been doing it for half my life!

      I got a driver’s licence in NZ, it’s 16 over there. πŸ˜€
