How I Met Your Mother in Melbourne

ling-hb

This photo is our inside joke. I was wearing a shirt that Ling got for me. She’s wearing a shirt that I got for her (she really wanted to see koalas).

Quite a few people have commented that my updates have been infrequent since I’ve met her. Haha! We’ve been somewhat busy but I’ll be getting up to speed starting from today with regular posts. I’m catching a flight to Bali so here’s one last photo for the candy bar themed post.

custom candy ripe

This is a limited edition Cherry Ripe which comes with a blank spot where the candy name is supposed to go. It’s meant for you to write a message to your loved one in the (). I saw it and thought of her – wrote β€œLIFE, <3, (universe)” in the space and gave it to Ling.

I thought it’ll be a sweet thing to do. smirk

It’s Australia’s oldest candy bar. I don’t like it (no coconut in my candy please – don’t like Bounty for the same reason also) but I thought of Ling when I saw that – can customize the candy wrapper from the original one which just says:

      CHERRY RIPE
      The Big Cherry Taste

I like Australia coz it’s a huge test bed for new limited edition candy flavors. Always used to blog about it.

    • It’s quite common in Australia, but not this version.

This is the limited edition one – thought it would be nice to get it for her when I saw it on the shelves. πŸ™‚

Yup, we’re very happy together! It’s a very nice first vacation, with many more to come!

Mars Honeycomb is also a new version that’s only available in Australia – came out just a while ago in 2013. Australia is a huge test bed for limited edition candy.

    • You can write it on the wrapper! πŸ™‚

There’s another type that can do what you’re saying but I can’t say anymore coz I want it to be a surprise for her. Haha!

    • OMG dear you would eat that candy bar?!??!?!?!

      Kidding dear. Haha!

It’s really not nice one. I wouldn’t have bought it if it wasn’t for the limited edition where you can write your own name. Originally that space says “CHERRY RIPE” and where “Cherry Ripe” is now, it says “The Big Cherry Taste”. Now the latter is removed to make space for writing.

      Love you dear!

I’ve had it for ages, gave it to Ling to wear most of the trip coz I told her it wasn’t cold (at least not to me).

Mana tau she’s very sensitive to cold, so I ended up giving it to her to wear.

I don’t mind the cold that much.

    • This is the caramel limited edition. It’s called Chunky 3 coz there are 3 segments in the Kit Kat bar.

There’s one different texture/flavor combo in each. Australia is a huge test bed for candy, when I was studying there, there’s lots of new and limited edition candy bars that only comes out in Australia.

There’s always something new or limited edition flavors coming out. πŸ™‚

  2. Ling would definitely appreciate it, HB. =D But isn’t it like approaching autumn now in Australia or rather Melbourne?

Oh, don’t worry about not updating frequently. *winks*

Yup, it’s autumn in Melbourne now. The summer heat wave just passed and it can be quite cold, especially in rural Victoria e.g. Phillip Island.

The wind chill factor and the daily showers don’t help either. I just met a couple from Melbourne (am in Bali now) and they were talking weather with me when they knew I just came from there.

    • Yup, she saw koalas, fed kangaroos and wallabies and we went for the penguin parade too. πŸ™‚

Rented a car to drive and I asked Ling to drive too so she can say she drove in Melbourne. Haha! I ended up driving though, she drove at a parking lot at the Nobbies in Phillip Island.

You can’t get around in Phillip Island without renting a car.

    • Yeah, Bali is a nice place, not Kuta but the other areas. πŸ™‚

We plan to come someday too. I’m here on a Club Med trip.

      Cheers mate!

I like Bali, it’s a friendly and chill place (if you don’t count Kuta and the airport).

      Cheers!

Yeah, my life has been full of ups and downs. It’s now quite stable and I’m a lot more mature and ready to get into marriage and parenthood. That’s what I’m looking for now.

Cheers for the kind words buddy!
