Sur sdei chhnam thmei! It’s the Khmer New Year here in Cambodia β there was festivities throughout the night yesterday. 14th of April is the start of the Cambodian New Year but we’re not here for that – we arrived one day earlier to celebrate Ling’s birthday! π
I chose a boutique resort slightly outside Siem Reap for the privacy and I love the hotel! It has the famed Khmer hospitality, the place is beautiful and they decorated the room with flowers and leaves spelling βHappy Honeymoonβ (which is the first time I’ve seen leaves used like this).
We’ve been exploring the temples and chilling at the resort for her birthday weekend. We just came back from Angkor Wat yesterday.
I was in Philea Resort in Malacca during my birthday a week ago, I gave her a trip as a birthday present too. <3
Siem Reap is a wonderful place – it’s infested with tourists () but we’re having a wonderful time here β had a some interesting food adventures too! I’ll update again when we’re back! Hope you’re all having a fantabulous weekend! π

OOOHHHH AngKor Wat! Looks hot, better drink more water π
Yeah, it was *incredibly* hot! We were desperately searching for a cold drink by the time it was done. π
Good thing our tuk tuk had ice cold mineral water in a cooler.
Cheers!
Njoy your trip!
Thanks! π
Yeah, it’s a lot of fun – just came back from ice cream, the weather is incredibly hot over here.
Coming back soon though, so we’re enjoying the last of it.
Can get gold bars for me at DFS otw back – entitled to two cartons now… B&H, please…thank you.
Yup, got your B&H mate! π
You mean one person is entitled to two cartons now? I heard a person asking the very same thing at the duty free shop.
That’s a beautiful place. Hope both of you enjoy the trip π
Thanks Andrew! π
We both enjoyed the trip – thanks for the well wishes buddy!
nice~
Thanks mate! π
“INFESTED with tourists.” Couldn’t think of a better word myself. Hehe. But it’s a still a fantastic place to explore. Enjoy your trip!
Haha! Yeah, Siem Reap would die without the tourism industry! π
Loved your photos of Angkor Wat mate. I agree, it’s an awesome place to chill, visit the temples and enjoy Cambodia.
Cheers!
I can see that it’s a beautiful place to explore. Hope that Ling had a fantastic birthday, and that both of you had the best weekend ever!
It’s rather awkward that they mistook your message…. but maybe, you could treat it as early honeymoon? xD
It’s an awesome place! π
I was considering Bali and Siem Reap and went for the latter.
Yeah, we’re treating it as an early honeymoon. Haha!
Thanks for the well wishes Ciana!
Thanks for the surprise arrangement, dear! And glad that we have chosen the awesome place to chill.
Not forgetting the surprise birthday pressie you have to ‘smuggle’ and hide all the way from KL.ahhahahah. That was the best and meaningful gift ever to me.
Thanks for being with me dear! <3
I'm really lucky to have you...
I love you dear! *hugs*
Yeah, I’m glad I went for the boutique hotel instead of the 5 star one. I love the service.
We’ll have more nice memories in the future!
Nice resort! The swimming pool area is nice.hehe….
I was torn between this boutique resort and a 5 star hotel.
I’m glad I chose this one coz it’s awesome with great service! π
They let us check out really late too – totally enjoyed our stay there.
Such a lovely boutique hotel. Are the leaves fragrant like pandan?
We did smell it but couldn’t identify the leaves. π
It’s not lalang or pandan, for sure.
I loved the hotel – highly recommended! The price was about similar to a 5 star hotel (which had a promo) but I’m glad I went for this.
The bed is so lovely and I am very impressed. Glad you both had a blast in Siem Reap.
Thanks buddy! π
Yup, they really did a great job on everything – they even had champagne on ice in the room waiting for us.
The service is excellent, we loved our stay there.
