Beautiful blisters pregnant with pus

blisters pus

I was making coffee when I accidentally spilled boiling hot water all over my hand. It had the side effect of creating a rather large blister between the web of my thumb and index finger.

huge blister

The blister was filled with pus – it looked ripe for lancing when you form a fist.

draining pus

I poked it with a needle and the pus squirted out like it was pressurized. It’s a good thing I took off the white shirt I was wearing. Heh.

broken blisters

Good as new! πŸ™‚

    • Yeah, I was surprised to see three blisters. I guess boiling hot water isn’t too kind on the skin. πŸ˜‰

    • Heh! Well, it’s going to leave a bit of a scar, the previous one where I got a similar blister during CNY while playing with fireworks did. πŸ™‚

    • I can guarantee you it’s not if you have an allergic reaction to plasters. πŸ™‚

You have to put antibacterial cream and plaster it over or else it’ll get infected.

I got a similar burn a couple of months back from fireworks. That was an intense flaming while this was just boiling water and the latter was worse, created 3 blisters bigger than the fireworks one.

  1. Looks damned painful. That first shot is amazing!

At the risk of bursting (lol) your alliterative bubble, it’s actually lymph, not pus. Beautiful blister loaded with lymph?

    • Yeah, I used a cell phone to take the photo! Granted, it’s a 12 MP camera at the back of the cell phone but I didn’t expect it to be this good. A pleasant surprise. πŸ™‚

Heh! Thanks for the alternative alliteration Katie! πŸ˜‰

Lymph eh? Learn something new every day. I love loaded with lymph.

      Cheers Katie! πŸ˜€

    • It tastes a bit gamey at first, then saturates your palate with a wonderful sweetness and ending with a lingering savory aftertaste. πŸ˜‰

    • I was in an alliterative mood. πŸ˜‰

Bountiful, big etc would work as well but I chose beautiful. Heh. πŸ˜€

    • Haha! Well, I’ll think of the appropriate alliteration when it comes to boils.

  2. In the future, if you ever get burnt, don’t you listen to old wives’s tales of putting sauces or toothpaste. All you need to apply is ice cubes. The coldness will prevent the heat from getting deeper into the layers of your skin. Yah, our skins have layers.

    • I never do anything when I get hurt or cut. I just let it heal by itself.

Yeah, having done unconventional piercings, tattoos and other related stuff involving pricking the skin, I know our skin has layers despite having failing Biology in high school. πŸ˜‰

      Thanks Yvonne! πŸ˜€

    • Haha! That’s a great idea Yvonne! πŸ˜€

Unfortunately, I don’t have the habit of doing preventive healing. I let it heal by itself and if it doesn’t I’ll just apply antibiotic cream. If topical doesn’t work, I’ll take a course of strong antibiotics.

Yeah, I’ve had septicemia before and treated myself coz…well, let’s just say I couldn’t go to a doctor and explain how I got blood poisoning. πŸ™‚

It was gnarly, not something I’ll want to experience again…
