The Mysterious Slurpee

mystery

7Eleven has come out with two new Mystery flavors for their Slurpee machine. Intrigued by this enigmatic campaign, the detective in me (who has read one too many mystery novels in my youth) decided that a quick trip down to 7Eleven was warranted to solve this mystery.

The trip involved planes, trains and automobiles (technically, since I was in KL at that time) and I arrived at 7Eleven to find out more about the two new Mystery flavors. ??? were abounding and they needed answering.

sleuth

I decided to look into Mystery Flavor 2 while my dear Watson, I mean, Irene went for Mystery Flavor 1.

mystery slurpee

Elementary, my dear Irene!

mystery 1

Mystery Flavor 1 tastes like a grape based Slurpee, which Irene preferred. It has an almost blackcurrant aftertaste and although I can’t identify the exact flavor of this mystery Slurpee, my taste buds tells me it has a hint of citrus as well.

mystery 2

Mystery Flavor 2 tastes like a mango based Slurpee. I liked this one better. It reminds me of the Slurpee I had in the very same 7Eleven outlet that saved me from a moribund state after a particularly dehydrating episode of partying. πŸ˜‰

poison

One man’s meat is another man’s (or woman’s) poison.

vote

Vote for the flavor you like best. I’m going for Mystery Flavor 2.

The two new Mystery flavors is a very interesting marketing campaign by 7Eleven. I don’t even know what the flavors really are! However, the thirst quenching qualities of the 7Eleven Slurpee is still present in abundance. You should check it out if you haven’t had a Slurpee before and if you’re a regular imbiber, the new flavors are definitely worth looking into.

ending

The 7Eleven Mystery Flavor 1 and 2 Slurpee is out now in all outlets and there will be a contest running during the promotional period up till the 5th of October, 2008. Slurpee users are encouraged participate and vote for their favorite mystery flavor amongst the two varieties.

The contest forms are available at all participating 7Eleven outlets and the winners will be selected from the winning pool with the highest purchase and correct answers (there are two very easy questions). You have to mail in the contest form with the Slurpee receipt.

Find out more about the contest here.

Guess what the prizes are? 1,000 mystery prizes.

Yup, you read that right. Even the prizes are a Mystery. πŸ˜‰

  1. Jason: The Green Monster Slurpee isn’t bad as well. I kinda like that. Thirst quenching. πŸ™‚
pinky: Yeah, I put Go Man-Go in the contest form for naming the drink. πŸ™‚

  2. Nice campaign … but I like the Anything (???) drinks you presented a while ago better I’d love to try those but I guess they aren’t available in Germany … haven’t really checked yet tho.

  3. This blog has become rather boring, dealing with mostly local Malaysian stuff.
Most pictures are with the author and different young girls that he gets to pose together with him.
And: What on this blog has anything with manhood to do? “leading the wild into the ways of the man”. I must laugh..

  5. Darren: Yeah, and it works wonders after a dehydrating session too. Heh! She was grimacing at my drink. πŸ™‚
MI!: The Anything/Whatever post wasn’t even an advertorial. I just did that for fun. πŸ™‚
Advertorials are in the “Live! Tonight! Sold Out!!” category. I think the drinks will be available worldwide soon, I hear they’re starting to penetrate the US market.
Negerkung: Hmm…you have a point there. I tend to have a certain style in advertorials since I don’t want it to be just about me (boring) or just about the product (too press release style). Personalizing it and all that.
Also, coz I noticed the trend of camwhoring with the new bloggers and have been thinking about incorporating that element in certain posts e.g. advertorials. Evolve or die. πŸ˜‰
Anyway, if you want to read veritas style posts, put a proper email in a comment or email me and I shall…er, illuminate the path. πŸ˜‰
You have to be an old reader for that though, I don’t recognize your nick and you didn’t get the tagline of the blog.
Leading the wild into the ways of the man…
Well, at least the branding is there. You remembered it. πŸ˜‰
(=;.;=): You prefer laksa to my eyes or you prefer laksa to a Slurpee. My eyes are like…my greatest asset okay? πŸ˜‰
Kidding, kidding, just wanted to emulate the wave of new bloggers in replying posts. It must be Julian influencing me to look into trends in blogging. Hmph.
cibol: Yeah, it’s interesting. You have a 50% chance of winning (winner depends on how many people voted for the pool you chose – either Mystery 1 or Mystery 2) and you get to name the drink. I’m going for Mystery 2 and naming it Peace Man-Go.
xin: I read an article about Australian atheletes drinking slushies during their training sessions to acclimatize to the weather in Beijing during the Olympics. Apparently, the trick to avoid brain freeze is to press your tongue against the top cavity of your mouth (or was it the other way around?).
The campaign is to build up hype about the two Mystery drinks and get people to vote for the one they like best and a chance to name it. πŸ™‚

What is this wave of new bloggers in replying posts like dude? Haha!
I read that article on Australian athletes as well, them taking slushies to reduce body temperature. Good stuff heh! Take it after rigorous activities πŸ˜‰ Brain freeze? Try put tongue on the top of your mouth, work for me πŸ˜€ No idea how it works though.

  9. CheekyBear: Yeah, it’s strange eh? The only 7Eleven we have in Sarawak is in Kuching…and there’s a LOT of outlets in Kuching. I wonder why they never expanded to the other places.
Yeah, I remember Dr. Freeze from SugarBun but it’s not available anymore. I miss the grape ones, used to get it from Frostee Boy (a sister company of some sort).
essentric: I love that word as well. πŸ™‚
I like using essentric words that are not in common circulation. I was actually pretty much sober then, it was only later during the night that I got less so. πŸ˜‰
Tom: You don’t have to be 18 to smoke, there are no laws against minors smoking. You only have to be 18 to purchase cigarettes. The sign means No Sale to Minors (Under 18). Basically, B 18 or B GONE. πŸ˜‰
    It’s not really enforced though.
Thanks for the feedback, I know what you mean, the attitude has been toned down a little. I find myself doing that subconciously ever since I got out of rehab. No worries, mate. I shall overcome that learned behavior and try to be more “old sixthseal” like again. πŸ˜‰
I know what is missing – the attitude, the craziness, the drunken stunts. πŸ™‚
Thanks for reading buddy, and thanks for staying.
bongkersz: I don’t know, felt like replying in the style of the new bloggers out there (which tend to be either in high school or college). I’m not knocking them though, I started this blog when I was in uni. πŸ™‚
Yeah, that’s what I read too but I wasn’t sure if it was that or the other way round. Tongue on top of mouth it is! πŸ™‚

  10. reformed…you;ve gotta admit how the cycles of your life turns…but will the quirks of life keep you entertained…i can’t help but think of the late aleister crowley…a man that seems to surpass all things human into a spritual awareness that surpasses all mundane issues we deal with day to day..as a creation of god.. are you the one to lead us into the light of understanding of the true nature of us? or will you realise and perhaps leave behind all that you see that many others do not see and seek a path of enlightenment that many of us seeks but can’t find but a blinding alley…see and keep or see and tell..your call my man.

  11. here’s an excerpt from Aldous Huxley’s Island…”The more a man knows about individual objects, the more he knows about God. Translating Spinoza’s language into ours, we can say: The more a man knows about himself in relation to every kind of experience, the greater his chance of suddenly, one fine morning, realizing who in fact he is—or rather Who (capital W) in Fact (capital F) “he” (between quotation marks) Is (capital I).”

There’s this phase I remember – Rich people are eccentric, poor people are just plain crazy. Haha! I never got that quote out of my mind.
Irene: My bad. I apologize. πŸ˜‰
We both know why but we both aren’t going to mention it on the blog since people from my office reads it. I’m already in enough trouble. πŸ™‚
ansach: I love interacting with you, my friend. Intelligence and knowledge are two virtues I look upon with high regard. That is a very good question, to which I am still pondering about the path I am going down. I shall keep you informed, mate. Cheers!
cbenc12: This is an advertorial. The posts in Live! Tonight! Sold Out!! are all advertorials. There are six (6) such posts in the history of sixthseal.com – it’s not much, but it pays the bills. πŸ™‚
Anyway, yeah, it’s a great concept, two mystery flavors. I love the marketing campaign, stuff like this interests me.
suituapui: Yeah, we still have the Sheraton Fish Head thing that’s supposed to be held. We’ll wait till you come back. πŸ™‚
