McDonald’s Coca-Cola Contour Glass

mcdonalds

I love McDonald’s and I’ve been writing about their promotions for ages. Don’t
stare me, just look at my archives.

korea

I even rushed to the nearest McDonald’s in Korea during my recent trip to Busan to grab a Big Bulgogi Burger (their localized specialty).

I started my passion for the Golden Arches with the McDonald’s promotions in Australia – a particularly memorable one is a cross-promo with Scrabble. I remember trying to eat their entire menu (one of each burger) during an astoundingly stupid dare when I was in university. It didn’t work out too well. Chronically ravenous *cough*, I started with the McOz burger, and proceeded to eat three more burgers before slowing down and grinding to a complete halt, stomach near bursting.

The next time I tried to eat everything was done in a more appropriate (read: controlled) setting – the Salads Plus menu, over the course of a couple of days.

mcdonalds sega2

My love for McDonald’s collectibles is not unknown either – I rushed off during my lunch break in 2004 to get my grubby paws on the McDonald’s and Sega 2 mini video games. One horrific day, the handheld game sold out BEFORE lunch hour and I had to scour the entire town for places that still has it. Since then, I’ve taken to going in the morning before work. I stood outside the outlet as it opened, and it got to a point where the people working there recognize me and waves.

Some other memorable McDonald’s promotions:

McDonald’s Crispy Prawn Burger and Prawn Wrappers
McDonald’s Fish McDippers
McDonald’s Grilled Chicken Foldover
McDonald’s Prosperity Burger Chicken and Prosperity Desserts
McDonald’s Spicy FIFA World Cup Soccer Star promotion
Mega Mac and Big Mac Chant
McDonald’s Gold Medal Meal Beijing 2008

I loved the Crispy Prawn Burger and I really wish they’ll bring it back. It’s awesome stuff. The Olympics 2008 glass is the predecessor to the 2009 Coke Glass promo which is the point of this post. I’ll better get to the gist of it before this turns into a full blown PhD dissertation. 😉

Well, if you’re into collectibles McDonald’s is coming out with a series of limited edition Coca-Cola glasses. Yes the iconic Coke glasses are back! =D There are 7 Coke glasses in all and you can get it FREE just by buying any Large McValue Meal with a Sundae.

Coke Contour Glass color of the day

Just point at the Coke Contour Glass Meal place card conveniently located at the counter, choose your burger and the flavor of your sundae to get the current Coke glass FOC!

I managed to get the Cool Blue glass but what I’m really waiting for it the Iconic Grey (called Charcoal in other countries) coz the personality description for that is “You might just be the wildcard!”

coke contour glass camwhore

Heh! That describes me down to a T (or *.* rather – dash of geek humor here).

Another one to look out for is the 7th Coke glass. It’s called Sparkly Clear and it’s exclusive to Malaysia! The other countries only get 6, so the final one will definitely be one hell of a collector’s item!

I’ve got the Perky Pink and Cool Blue.  This time around, there’s no set release dates for new Coke glasses…which can lead to some, well, problems:

You’ll just have to keep checking the McDonald’s website to get the inside scoop when a new one comes out. Perky Pink, Cool Blue, Fortune Green, Iconic Grey and Royal Purple are out, and some colors have already sold out. Don’t let the Coke glass ruin workplace relationships. Grab your favorite color today, they’re going fast!  Go go go! =D

  1. I’ve seen huge banner promoting this at a nearby McDonalds but I’ve got enough junks(LOL) around me. Hmmm…maybe another awesome contour glass won’t hurt…. -_- I have my eyes set on the sparkly clear but since there isn’t any indication on the estimated release it’s pretty sad, no?
PS. Do you drink from a glass? I sure don’t.

  2. Cheers: I think the Sparkly Clear will be the last one to come out since it’s the last in the series. The release of each one is announced in the website. 🙂
    Hmm…I don’t drink from a glass unless I’m out. 😉
Jys: Oh nice! My favorite is the Iconic Grey. I like the description for that one. 🙂

  3. Is it glass? I have one in the shape of the World Cup (football) trophy…from one of these places but it’s plastic. Wouldn’t want such big glasses – imagine serving drinks to visitors in those! I’m very kiam siap one! LOL!!!

  4. fish fish: Haha! Thanks! I’m such a McDonald’s geek. =D
Cheers: Yeah, that was last year’s promo – I posted about that too, the Beijing 2008 Coke glasses. Hmm…not that you mentioned it I kinda miss Autumn. 🙂
hitomi: It has nice names! Haha! 🙂
suituapui: Hmm…me and my coworker had a debate on that too. It sounds like glass, feels like glass and would probably break like glass too. I don’t think it’s molded (there are lines) so probably glass fiber?
Haha! It’s not that big really, I think it’s about the size (as in volume) of a regular glass…the type you serve drinks with. 🙂

  5. hehe. post partying i ended up at mcd’s hungry. i somehow decided i HAD to have to green contour glass. i am now a proud owner of that, but honestly, i’ve no idea what to do with it (i prefer drinking from a mug), but i think my mum took it out of its package to use.
haven’t heard from you for yonks, and i know i’ve not been commenting much either, been a silent reader because i’m perpetually short of time since i started work, so reading blogs these days has been more of an exercise in glancing through as many as i can before hastily closing my browser.
when you coming down to kuching again? i’m working at barzing – do pop over when you can! oh and mrs. chan’s been asking how you are lately. heh my mum still remembers you as the “cute boy”.

Okay, serious catching up to do, am tempted to use the MAS domestic tickets I have to go to Kuching but I have to ask about leaves first since I’ll be working in a new company next month.
You’re working in barzing eh? Will be sure to give you a call when I’m in Kuching.
Haha! Tell your mom I said hello! 🙂
jg: Yup, Sibu only has one McDonald’s! 🙂
eiling: Okay, sure thing! I don’t have two similar colors though – you can ask what is available before getting it. 🙂
thenomadGourmand: You have the clear one already? It’s not out in the McDonald’s where I live yet. 🙁

  9. Shirley Snow: Hmm…good question. I don’t know. I think it was coz McD was the pioneer in bringing new menu items when I was in Australia. KFC was too far away, as in Hungry Jacks (BK). The best fries in Melb was McD too – KFC serves fish & chips style fries (thick, very potato) while McD serves really good fries. 🙂

But there is somthing, HB, I wish to tell you… concerning the the secrect hiding place of Edward Teache, late of Bristol, that notorious pirate,as well his goods, , other wise known as Black beard. on the very outer banks of this state of NC. I have found it, and must relay the precisce corordinates. It is unbeblivable. Tell no one, and we shall split the spoils, here are the exact gps coordinates, HB, ugh…

I watched tropic thunder to night. and right from the get go, that was too much. It was offensive and detrimental to any culture. and this from a guy that likes south park and family guy. Well, maybe Im to old. But I think not. Its no wonder some cultures resist the incursion of any things go. I was embarassed. what would your Grand ma or grand pa say? Just sad, I reckon.

Pet Semetary was depressing for me, a good read nevertheless. Come to think of it The Monkey’s Paw had similar themes. The best book by SK is IT, scared me coz of the age I read it at. It didn’t the second and third time I went about it.
All the best my friend and I wish you and your friend’s wife well! 🙂

  22. You guys have fried shrimp at your McDonald’s?? We don’t that in California, U.S. I heard from friends that travel abroad about how the menu is different and much better in other countries that in the U.S. My friend said there’s milk tea in Hong Kong, I was like, what?! We have the typical burgers and fries, nothing special.

  24. KN: It was a limited time promo – the prawn mcdippers. It’s not available anymore, sadly. I loved that stuff. I think there are some states in the US that has seafood on the menu e.g. lobster. I’m not sure where though. Cheers! 🙂

Sorry about the Xanax! I kinda forgot you haven’t taken it for a long time. OTOH, your Ritalin tolerance is awesome, I get jittery from what is probably your regular dose. 🙂

hahaha regarding ritalin, it makes some of my friends drowsy. does that mean that they have minor ADD? i’ve not touched that in years either, so i figure i’d probably get jittery on that shit too these days.

I know many others personally who have struggled for many years to quit as well and have managed to with electronic cigarettes. For many, quitting is not even the intention, but the e-cigarette works as a perfect alternative.

A pen scanner works precisely for instance a highlighter. You slide the scanning device across textual content and the pen scanner will scan it, shop it, and then move it onto your personal computer when needed. It can also permit you to scan tiny images, and some models can certainly read the text to you as you scan it. Adauga Anunt Gratuit

The Droid 1 has a PowerVR SGX GPU, the same kind the iPhones have, and it’s much faster than the Adreno 200. If you’re going to compare against the iPhone 4 (PowerVR SGX 535), use a phone with hardware more on par with that phone. The Droid X/Droid 2 use the PowerVR SGX 530, the Galaxy S phones use the PowerVR SGX 540, and the Desire HD and G2 use the Adreno 205 which is close to the performance of the PowerVR SGX 540.
