Samsung Corby Paint Fight

beretta

Most men have a natural inclination for guns. It probably harks back to our hunter-gatherer roots. We like to shoot loud, large caliber projectile weapons for fun and recreation.

paintball

It’s hardwired into our XY chromosomes. However running around and shooting real guns at each other tend to get a lot of people killed…so paintball was invented. πŸ˜‰

stalk

I like playing paintball games and used to have regular sessions going. However, I haven’t seen much action lately with everyone busy with work and all that.

aim

I remember this friend of mine who loves to pull the Dead Man Walking trick (pretends to be out of the game and then suddenly tags you – at close range) so one fine day we decided to ramp him (our markers had that option even though we don’t usually use it).

tag

I think that was the last time he pulled the DMW cheat. Heh!

pro paintball

I drove by my favorite paintball supply shop last Sunday (it was closed) and recalled that ramping anecdote. It made me really itch to get on the battlefield again.

gear

There will be a Paint Fight going on at the Samsung Corby Carnival Day at Sunway Extreme Park on 16th January 2010. If you love paintball, you’ll be pleased to know that you can join with your group and take part in different scenarios and games.

The Samsung Corby Carnival Day is not just about paintball – there are a lot of activities going on and everyone who goes will get a goodie bag. You’re also looking at RM 25,000 worth of prizes, and last I checked, that’s not pocket change, so be there to join in the fun!

stealth

Join one of the four colored teams and the winning group will walk home with a Samsung Corby cell phone for each of the members while the first runner up will win a total cash prize of RM 3,000. The 25 top scorers will also win tickets to their offline games!

moving-out

It’s paintball! How can you say no?

ambush

Just sign up for the Samsung Fun Club here and choose one of the Corby’s colors before uploading a photo of yourself to the gallery page.

fashion-jacket

Samsung Corby is a phone with that comes with in four different colors (Jamaican Yellow, Festival Orange, Minimal White and Cupid Pink). The best thing about it is the changeable covers – a fashion jacket to express yourself! I also like the One-Finger Zoom and Pop-up SNS which automatically updates you of online notifications on Facebook, Twitter and other social media.

Here’s what you need to do to join the Paint Fight and win one of them phones:

fb-photo

1. Choose a color you want to represent and upload a photo of yourself.

fb-signup

2. Once you get the notification email, start attacking the other teams and defend your own team. I’m in Cupid Pink so I’ve gotta tag the other colors virtually.

fb-attack

3. The scores are tabulated daily and the best thing about this is that you can login daily to claim your 10 virtual pellets. What’s so good about this? You need to shoot your way into the Top 25 in order to win tickets to the Samsung Corby Paint Fight! Recruit more people to get more paintballs.

fb-game

You play the paintball game online to dominate the other colors – the top player from each color team will also win a Samsung Corby when the contest ends on the 31st January!

I’m on the Cupid Pink team since it’s so feminine and deceptive it’ll give me a chance to wrack havoc on the field when we actually play for real. πŸ˜‰ Who’s with Team SixthSeal? Run and gun, run and gun! Go go go!

  1. debbie: Extreme paintball? Hmm…there was a time in uni when we played without protective gear (except eye protection) – that was loads of fun, but can be quite painful, especially if people start aiming down south. πŸ˜‰

  2. r u going to the carnival?
hope that i’m one of the chosen ones to go. lol!
i want that phone if not the cash prize!
and an experience to play paintball for the first time. XD

  3. foodcrazee: Heh! When we played in uni there were rules not to tag faces and crotches, but it’s unofficial during our games. Eye protection is a must though, getting hit in the face is bad (got it once) but getting hit in the eye is worse (good thing for eye protection) since our games didn’t have minimum distance rules e.g. you can STILL shoot and point blank during an ambush. πŸ™‚
Dylan: Yeah, I’ll be there. πŸ™‚
That’s the spirit, join the Cupid Pink team, we’ll cream the competition! Paintball is really easy to pick up.
    Good luck!

  4. painttball is cool. and fun, too. but don’t be holding that thing that way. but you are right. its like fireworks… an inclination towards that… like a bow and arrow. its like … well … a .50 cal desert eagle semi. has no purpose. hell, its so exppensive, i could not even target practice… but I still want one… on target as aways, HB. I am just happy to be here. but wear an old leather coat. and get some gloves.
    i just like a pnematic nail gun , or , or laser sight framing square I know…( but i still want a … i donno …smile

  5. tom: Heh! Exactly! I’ve never understood the IMI Desert Eagle .50AE – the recoil is so intense, the gun so heavy, clip capacity is limited compared to other .45. Fun to shoot but not very practical as a self defence weapon. I would fear discharging it in my house coz of the penetration power, might go through walls and hit the neighbours or something.
Nail guns are awesome too, used to be in the timber industry so have played around with them especially for plywood packing crates (before steel/PVC lengths are wound around it).
Paintball is fun for the entire family, I love running around and shooting stuff. Love the strategy too. πŸ™‚

  6. HB, we played here in San Francisco called war tag or paint tag. Got all the gears for it. My friend was a navy vet is good at it. I played every few months.

  7. michellezyenn: Yup, it’s gonna be great! If you play it my self, bruises isn’t the only thing you’re gonna get. πŸ˜‰
We’ve walked home bleeding from hits, some of our markers are modded so the velocity of the balls from the markers is higher than regulation. It really adds a lot of adrenaline into the game when you play sans protection (except for goggles, going blind isn’t fun) in a no-holds barred Capture the Flag game with no minimum distance rules.
Getting hit at point blank is like being shot with a BB gun. :S
foodcrazee aka mike: Pain(t) is only temporary, GLORY IS FOREVER!!!!!!!
Nothing beats running the gauntlet with the enemy’s flag while your team provides supressing fire. It’s fucking intense, you’ll KNOW when you’re hit coz we don’t have that long-sleeves, protective gear nonsense and the markers are super modded. You’ll FEEL being hit and you’ll bleed. =D
We do have a no face, no groin policy going after a while though. One of my mates got hit in the face and it wasn’t very pretty. The marker was on ramp mode and she got it twice in the lips and that took AGES to heal.
After that it was no face, no groin (or barred from our games) but all else goes. Man, you just gotta feel being tagged at point blank. First time I got it was such a rush! I didn’t even know I was bleeding until I wiped the paint away.
ah nel: There are paintball games everywhere! I’ve played in Kuching, but I must admit, nothing beats my uni games in Melbourne. The Kuching folks are pussies, all protective gear and rules so long it’ll take you months to read.
I’ll rather organize my own games – no rules, no protective gear (except no face/groin shots for former and goggles is a must for latter coz we don’t want people going home blind).
Bangsar-bAbE: You should try it sometime! πŸ™‚
Come for this one or we can organize a game, I’ll go full unprotective (except goggles la, that is a must) while you can go full protective gear. πŸ™‚
Vickie: Yeah, it’s a fucking awesome game eh? Our team was called Kamikaze Kunts (Roberts). Don’t look at me, I didn’t come up with that name. It’s named after the hall of residence we come from, uni paintballs games. We usually do pretty well but the Farrer Hall assholes are constantly challenging us (and sometimes winning). πŸ™

Ooh is there away to prevent the eye protection from fogging up? my goggles kept fogging up and i couldn’t see properly when i played the last time.
My ex & i used to go ard shooting stray cats with bb guns!

    Reply
  9. michellezyenn: Hmm…there are sprays and such but proper goggles shouldn’t fog up on you.
Why did your ex use to shoot stray cats with a BB gun?
    T_T
We have BB rifles from Indonesia (porous border) in Sarawak and the steel pellet ones will seriously injure (if not kill) small animals like cats within 5 meters. πŸ™
Back to paintball though, it would be fun to go to this one, do you want to go intense e.g. no protective gear except for eyes? πŸ˜‰
No rules, no protective gear, just don’t aim for the face and groin.
It’ll be an intense experience! πŸ™‚

  10. Paintball is awesome man! Fun as hell! Specially when your team gangbangs the other team, kill all, leave on alive, then move in from all sides, surround him/her force them to surrender. But after that, shoot the bejesus outta them!
But it’s sure a game of pain! Once, I was shot point blank range by my OWN teammate on my right elbow. The impact was so hard, that it was a clean cut wound. The impact made me lose control of my whole arm, couldn’t even hold my gun up.
But despite all the pain, it’s still a fun game!

  11. foodcrazee: Yeah, paintball is fun! πŸ™‚
Marlboro Guy: Yeah bro, it’s the best. I used to be a kamikaze player but focused more on strategy after that. Pure kamikaze is no fun.
Oh I think the places over here (unless self organized) has minimum distance rules e.g. you’re not supposed to tag at point blank (what’s the point of stealth attacks?) but instead shout a phrase to minimize injury.
Personally, I think NO PAIN NO GAIN. PAIN IS TEMPORARY, GLORY IS FOREVER!!!
(and other similar rah rah phrases)

  15. Hey – awesome weblog, just looking around some websites, seems a pretty nice platform you are using. I’m presently using Drupal for a few of my sites but looking to change one of them over to a platform related to yours as a trial run. Anything in particular you would advise about it? With regards, Tijuana.
