My girlfriend just moved in with me!

rainie moving in

I know it’s a big step to be taking in the relationship – one of the major milestones. However, I feel that the time has come. A lot of people have told me it’s too early to be doing this but I’m not the type to let tradition or “relationship rules” dictate what I do.

…so I just went and did it.

I asked her to move in with me. :)

fixing

Well, for those of you who’ve been to my studio apartment, you’ll know that it’s a bit of a pigsty. Irene famously said that it can sustain its own ecosystem and probably has created new forms of life in its time. She’s seen my pad in Kuching and while the one in KL isn’t as bad as that, it’s still pretty nasty.

cleaning

I managed to get two cleaners to come for 4 hours and an electrician to fix all the lights. There is only one light in the kitchen, the rest of my place has bulbs that have shorted out. Yes, I am living in darkness (in more ways than one).

leap of faith

I had to help the two cleaners do their work coz 4 hours wasn’t enough to clean my studio…which is just a little over 500 sq ft, so you can imagine the kind of messiness (understatement of the decade) that we’re talking about.

Two cleaners for 4 hours: RM 100
Cleaning accessories: RM 142.65
Replacing the 9 lights in my condo that has shorted out: RM 205
Getting groceries so the fridge and pantry will be stocked: RM 182.50
Living with my girlfriend: Priceless

clean studio

I’m really happy to be taking the relationship into a whole new level.

I don’t know how things would go from here but what I do know for sure is that I’m fixing everything that’s wrong in my life for the one thing that is right. :)

    • The early bird gets the worm and all that. ;)

Wow! I don’t think we had that much CNY rubbish unless you count the firecrackers and fireworks spent aerial cakes and paper. :D

  1. Hi Huai Bin, I have been reading your blog for some time now (and man, you are a great blogger!) and I just wanna say your smile in the photos with Rainie in this post says it all. I think this is the happiest I have seen you ever. I think she is the one for you and I wish you both a lifetime of happiness. And as everyone say, don’t screw this up! :)

    Cheers bro!

    • Thanks Luke! :)

Appreciate the kind comments. Yeah, I am happy in the relationship.

I won’t be the one to screw this one up bro. :)

  2. Hi Huai, I have been reading your blog for some time now and I have to say your smile in the photos with Rainie in this post says it all! This is the happiness I have seen you and I think she is the one! She seems like a great gal and I wish you both a lifetime of happiness. And as everyone says, don’t screw this up. :)

    Cheers bro! :)

    • Yeah, I’m really happy in this relationship. She was wearing my shirt in the first photo. :)

Thanks for the well wishes bro. :)

    • I lived like that for 2 years and more before that at various different places.

People can get used to almost anything. :D

    • Thanks Dar! :)

      Yup, I am happy.

Would definitely need to catch up with you soon!

Cheers and have an awesome weekend! :D

    • Yes, it does eh? Thanks Kim! :D

I’ve felt *much more* at home since that long due spring cleaning happened.

Thanks for all the support Kim! :)

  3. HB i can see that you are in love.. All the best in your r/ship!

I myself doesnt trust in r/ship ,, starting to be a player and you quit ? sigh

    • Thanks Ryan!

Well, you can quit being a player. I think everyone does at some point.

As you get older, you realize that meaningless multiple sex encounters is just that…meaningless.

…and you kinda want to get married and have children and all that. Biological, me thinks. :)

  4. ‘grats! and those two cleaners don’t look half pleased at being photographed under-taking that monumental task lol. hope this one works out for you… you guys look really adorable together by the way!

    • Haha! They were actually pretty cool people. I took lots of photos but chose this one coz the mess is still visible.

Very hard workers and nice people too. Discreet, if you follow.

I tipped them and bought them drinks, they don’t get much from the agent.

Thanks Irene! Appreciate the well wishes. :D

    • Haha! Yeah, I can never surpass the level of greatness I have achieved in Kuching.

That was my masterpiece. I have jumped the shark. T_T

No longer can I produce such works of art. :(

Consider yourself blessed to have witnessed, nay, experienced, my piece de resistance. ;)

      • =_=” i have to say, it makes for a good story to tell my children in the future. how i braved your uncanny ability to generate inhuman amounts of clutter.

  5. a word of congratulations is in order here. This is really a big step forward in the relationship, continue fighting till the end for what is important to you bro. :)

  6. Great to hear mate, congrats! They say every man needs to settle down and it’s probably about time. Both of you have my blessing and do have many great years ahead!

    • Thanks Ryan! :)

Yeah, gotta put down your roots somewhere, sometime. It’s the cycle of life.

Cheers mate and thanks for the support. :D

  7. Good grief! How could you stay in the midst of such a horrendous mess… Ahhhh!!!! No worries now! Your pad’s got what it badly needs….a woman’s touch! Good luck! Make it soon.

    • Heh! Well…at first it’s a small tolerable mess and as it grows larger…

You know that phrase about how man can adapt to almost anything. ;)

Thanks Arthur, for your well wishes.

I’m keeping the wedding singer position open for you! :D

  8. HB, just popping by to wish you and Rainie all the best as usual. Your smiles in the first picture tells the story!

Also, don’t worry about people telling you it’s “too soon”. I’m sure you do know what’s the best for the relationship and what will work out. After all…isn’t it conventional of HB to be unconventional? :P

    • Thanks Jyannis! :)

I’m not bothered by what other people say or think, it’s just something about me that I don’t know whether is a positive or negative attribute. Haha!

It can be either, considering all the things I’ve done despite people telling me not to.

Thanks for all the support Jyannis! <3

    • Yup, that’s two good things that came out of it (one being the clutter). :)

It was getting really serious, the messiness level in my room. Haha!

      Thanks Connie! :D

    • Haha! You haven’t seen my Kuching one – that is a work of art, perhaps my greatest creation. :D

      Thanks mate! :)

    • Hey, congrats Mel! :)

      I’m happy that you’re happy! That’s great news. :D

Thanks for the well wishes, it’s been great here too. :)

  9. Congratulations are in order, HB! You both look really happy in the first photo, it’s sweet.

I think deep down inside you know what you’re doing and what’s best for your relationship, so yeap, don’t take too much notice of the “it’s too soon” folk. After all, isn’t it conventional for HB to be unconventional? :P

    All the best :)

    • Thanks Jyannis! :)

I really am happy, it’s a good feeling to be living together. It somehow feels right.

Haha! Yeah, I reckon you’re correct, if I start being conventional, the theory of relativity might just go awry. ;)

      Cheers for the support! :D

  10. HB, funny you got girls like to live with their boyfriends but here some guys like to moved in with their girlfriends. Reason lot women now days have good jobs and very nice cribs to live in. I kind like my own space so lot of time no to them. My crib is huge and got some pets also .

    • Hmm…I don’t think that is true for all cases. :)

Nice, good to hear that. Be self-sufficient and all, I’m all for that.

Have an awesome week Vickie! :D

  11. next thing you know he’ll be posting about how much he wanted to be serious but it didn’t work out and then found some girl from facebook and move in together again. what a touching love story…

      • Haha! The person above has a very cynical view of relationships…either that, or he/she has just been dumped or have been in unreciprocated relationships all the while.

I could write a book about relationship advice. ;)

        Er…maybe not. HAHAHA

        Thanks Lainey! :D

    • Relationship is a gamble.. Doesn’t mean he wants it to work out .. It will DEFINITELY work out. Most importantly is he tried. I’m sure.. You ve been in break ups too.. Or maybe you haven’t.. That’s why you don’t understand ;p

      • For certain aspect,i do agree with Igivethemaweek. You just cannot say that Oh relatianship is gamble, i try very hard already and it work out as an excuse and change girlfriend almost every year. Is that call serious? A serious relationship is just end for few month or less a year?

        • Of course it works that way bro.

If you find out you’re not compatible, what are you going to do?

Force yourself to be in the relationship? :)

          • Then, i will not go into the relationship, at least not go into so easily and so FAST. It just like one night stand, can i say last night i really thinking of marry with the girl but this morning i find i am not compatible? What will you say? You will tell me that’s bull shit right?Anyway, i really wish that you can success this time and one day in future i can buy a present, and congratulate you and “Mrs Poh”. I am from same place as you and Sixthseal.com is the very first blog that i read. Good luck bro.

      • Yeah, I think a lot of these people aren’t very familiar with the concept of relationships. ;)

        1. Two people date
        2. They find out if they want to be in a committed relationship
        3. Get into a relationship and see if it works out

        If it does:
        Wedding
        If it doesn’t:
        Start from 1

I think the igivemthemaweek either hasn’t been in a relationship before or they’re all nonreciprocating ones. ;)

Thanks for the support Mel! :D

    • Dude, that is how relationships work. I don’t know how many movies you’ve been watching but in real life, people date and break up all the time till they find someone they want to be together…but before that, you have to be serious about settling down and about the relationship.

Anyway, since you can see the future, mind telling me what the first prize for 4D next draw is? ;)

I missed out on the 2929 leap day thing. :x

Hey, you won right? Since you’re clairvoyant and all. ;)

  12. Happy for you, she looks like a nice gal! been a silent reader for many years, and i have seen many of your gfs moving in and out. I hope this one lasts!! :)

    • Thanks Marian! Appreciate the kind comments and cheers for reading.

I hope it lasts too and I’m trying my very best to make it work. I won’t be the one to screw this up. :)

  13. how lovely. i’m starting to accept my boy friend may never ask me (to move in) and i don’t know anymore if i want to co-habitate. i feel like maybe he needs to put a ring on it first. uh-oh oh! lol.
