This is one of the fireworks that I used to play with when I was a kid. I haven’t seen it around for *ages*. The most interesting bit about the complex (in the sense that it’s not a simple salute) build is that it behaves more or less like a tank.
It has wheels that actually work and the fuse propels it forward in a surprisingly sudden fast turn and it emits a spray of sparks (which I imagine is the flamethrower) before the grand finale β at the very end the tank actually fires it’s main gun.
Tame stuff, but nostalgic. This cardboard tank spits out an arcing ball of fire which travels a short distance and explodes on the ground.
It’s very cute actually. The video shows the firework tank in action β during the heydays before the firecrackers and fireworks ban, there were lots of nifty and creative fireworks like this.
It’s the little tank that could. π
all these fireworks posts make me feel like playing fireworks too. i wonder whether i can still buy some more…
I always feel like playing firecrackers and fireworks! π
It fascinates me, even after all these years.
Hmm…you still can get firecracker and fireworks in Sibu, not sure about other places.
They sell it for Chap Goh Meh too.
Happy CNY! π
Haha this thing is good. Safer for kids to play π
Yeah, and a lot more interesting too! π
Didn’t play fireworks for years already. π Feel like i’m missing out loads
Yeah, you should! I play with fireworks and firecrackers every single year. π
It’s a CNY tradition for me. I don’t feel like it’s CNY unless I’m lighting some.
Didn’t have this when I was again…but of course, I’m as old as the hills, what to expect! LOL!!!
*when I was a kid…
Hey, what kind of firecrackers were there when you were a kid?
I asked my dad and he could only remember the small packets of yellow boxed Chinese firecrackers. π
Haha! Oh well, this was popular back in 91/92 when we had the temporary stalls outside Ngiu Kee being set up and people smoking while buying fireworks. Man, those were the days.
Selecting the good ones with a strict budget and seeing the demos were always fun. π
didnt get to play fireworks this year!
but the tank you got there is… interestingly cute! LOL
I know, it’s so cute right? I remember it being unpredictable when I was a kid and it was so much fun lighting it.
However, it just follows how the wheels are aligned. Just like the bees fireworks, it seems unpredictable, but it’s not – it flies according to where the small tube is mounted, which is not always attached flush with the wings. π
Wahhh how much does this cutesy little thing cost?
Hmm…that’s a very good question.
I don’t know, it came in a gift hamper containing other stuff like small multishot cakes, sparklers, fountains etc etc.
The entire fireworks gift hamper was RM 85 but I can’t break down the cost as they don’t sell this in boxes…and they had some really good stuff inside, one of which I know is RM 30 alone. π
Adorable tank! So cute!
Indeed it is! I had a very weird deja vu experience. I feel like I’ve replied all the comments already the night before. Maybe it’s sleep deprivation. Haha! π
Damn cute leh wei!
Yup, I love it, I wish I had more of these. π
It would be nice to have a whole lot of tanks going off at once. I remember a larger one was well, complete with spinning turrets but I can’t find it this year.
