Reformatting woes

I finally got around to reformatting my computer. I was using a warez version of Windows XP and
even with an activation crack, it expired on me so I was forced to spend nearly the whole night on
reinstalling. It’s far too complicated to explain. Let it be known that I have 3 warez Windows XP
CDs.

CD #1: Proven to work but scratched to the point of being unusable. Bootable.

CD #2: Proven to work only in my DVD drive. Unbootable.

CD #3: Recent burn using an ISO of a corporate edition. Not working.

Basically I took the longest route and finally gave up and reinstalled Windows Me. Mmm…it
crashes on me every 3 minutes. Nice. I would install Linux but unfortunately it does not have a
version of ICQ that works behind a HTTPS firewall. How sad.

Old trusty

73.2%

Wh00t! I got 18.3 out of 25 for my Systems Design and Implementation interview. I missed out on
a couple of marks due to not recalling my tutor mentioning that the seven design principles will be
in the interview. Must have zoned out or something. Heh. Cheers to my tutor Niresha Mudalige. I
think I’ll go to sleep now and wake up early tomorrow. Nite people.

St0ked!

Muahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! The Monash University exam timetable came out
today.

10/06/2002

CSE2200 Systems Design & Implementation 09:30AM

CSE3208 Unix Programming 02:30PM

11/06/2002

CSE3510 Documents & Imaging Systems 02:30PM

12/06/2002

CSE3420 Developing Graphical WWW Applications in Java 02:30PM

14/06/2002

CSE3400 Applications Programming with C++ 09:30AM

No one can beat my sweet exam timetable! πŸ™‚ It’s perfect! The Monash University exam period is
from 10/06/2002 – 28/06/2002. My tabletable allows me to finish everything in just 4 days instead
of dragging it over a period of nearly a month. Just the way I like it, baby. Plus, this gives me
more than 4 weeks of holidays! wh00t! =D

Floppies do fail

I have a piece of advice for everyone. When you put important stuff like assignments on a floppy
disk, make sure to make two copies or use a web mailing service to mail yourself a copy. I had an
assignment due at 2 pm and thus I took the 1:40 pm shuttle to my campus to print it out. Yes, you
know what’s coming. I didn’t realize it at first. I was thinking, hmm…my document is taking a
long time to load. But that nasty grinding sound tipped me off. I tried using another computer in
the hope that the first one’s floppy disk drive is somehow faulty. Nope…it didn’t load there
too.

Anyway, I signed the pink CSSE declaration forms, handed them to Franky (my assignment partner),
took the 2:40 pm shuttle back to Clayton, ran from the bus loop to the halls in 7 minutes (a
personal record!) and burst into my room to send the stuff to Franky, who printed it out and handed
it in coz I couldn’t get back in time. Oh, and much thanks to Franky for the kang tau. πŸ˜‰

What’s the moral of this story? Don’t copy that floppy.

Oh wait…that’s not it. It’s “Always make backups“.

Went off on a tangent

Oh, I was going to update this page about me going to Clayton but I just went off on a tangent
and went on about my recurring dreams instead. πŸ™‚ Anyway, I had that new Tandoori Chicken Burger at
McDonald’s. The one on their New Tastes Menu. It’s
pretty good, the curry balances well with the sour cream. Heh, I’m talking like its a gourmet
meal instead of McDonalds. Oh well, hunger is the best condiment. Eh, I don’t think I got the
phrase right, but never mind.

The intricacies of the dining room menu

I just went to slops to get something to eat. The meals are around A$3.60 and because I was
wearing pajamas (no pockets) I didn’t bring along my wallet but just brought A$4 in coins. Now, I
had some herbed chicken with rice, and because the dish beside the steamed rice usually comes with
rice, I thought that will cost the standard A$3.60. However, at the cashier I was told that rice is
extra for the chicken and thus it costs 90c more. Don’t ask me why they charge 90c for a scoop of
rice, they just do. Anyway, since I only had A$4 with me, I had to go back to my room and get 50c
and come back. Hmph.

ANZAC Day

Today is a holiday so there are no classes. Unfortunately, my Java
tutorial has been rescheduled (!) instead of cancelled – to
8 am on Friday. Damn, and I had worked so hard on my timetable to give
myself a free day (Friday) even though I’m taking 5 subjects. Guess I’ll
have to wake up at an unholy hour tomorrow for my 1 hour commute to my
campus. Anyway, ANZAC Day is a day where Aussies and Kiwis sit around and
eat
Anzac biscuits
.

Nah, just kidding. It’s a war veteran commemoration day. Read more about
it

Weather : Rainy and depressing and cold

That’s food from the Halls dining room. Any wonder why we call the dining
room slops?
