Anyone NOT going home for CNY?

cny ppl

I just woke up, having repaid my sleep debt for the week. I’m still feeling a little groggy though, slept for more than 18 hours (!). I was looking out my window while having a smoke, and saw two groups of people packing their bags into their cars to head home for CNY.

I’m not going home this Chinese New Year. πŸ™ I’m sure going to miss my friends back home and the traditional grand fireworks display by the good citizens of Sibu. The tickets are too expensive and I didn’t think it was worth it to be going back for just four days.

(Un)fortunately my workplace decided to implement a one week compulsory holiday since too many people are taking long leaves for CNY. I checked AirAsia when I heard the news but the tickets are sold out to be in time for the reunion dinner (tomorrow night). The return tickets are also too expensive so I think I’m just going to chill here in KL.

train man

I’ll be reading a lot, catching up on my sleep and all that. I just started on this book – Train Man, literally a translation of Japan’s 2-Channel forum about a nerdy young guy who hooks up with this girl Hermes (which was dubbed so due to the teacups of the label she gave him when he “saves” her from a drunk on a train).

train man book

Engrossing read, I love the forum format of the book. Its funny and endearing at the same time.

Anyway, more updates later tonight. I haven’t properly woken up yet, I shall go in search for food.

Since this is a random post, I shall embed a viral video that’s been going around the office like crazy December 2008. I heard it just hit a friend’s workplace:

Anyone else not going home for CNY? Come, email me and we’ll work out something. Trip to Genting perhaps? Uncle Lim’s son owes me money from a disastrous trip there last year (lost on the fourth day after a winning streak on the first three days – arrgghhh) and thus I have decided to go back this year and get it back…with interest. πŸ˜‰

ShaolinTiger: Yeah, but I love CNY. It’s my favorite holiday of the year! The reunion dinner, the meeting up with old school mates etc etc.
Oh well, guess I’ll miss this year’s CNY.
We shall think of something to do here.

  2. are sure sure uncle lim will not wake up from the dead and then take more of your money? Anyways,
I’m lim also, so you can gamble with me. No need to go Genting Highlands.

  4. well, i’ll be making a couple of one day trips back to ipoh. couple meaning up and down in a day over a few days with a few groups of friends. yes, it’s gonna be one helluva hectic week, ugh.

jerine: Yeah, this would be like a great time to head down under considering the amount of holidays we’re getting but unfortunately cash flow issues doesn’t allow me to fly to Australia.
    blackberrybloke: Friday night? Hmm…can.
My number is 016 888 2069. Text me.
I’m probably going to stay 1 night only, in and out. Baccarat with a really disciplined system. RM 5k bankroll, hoping to double that. I lost 12k last trip, and I’m not going to allow greed to force me to stay on the tables again. πŸ™‚
eiling: Haha! Well, I doubt my playing limits is worthy of his billion dollar attention. πŸ˜‰
I’m looking at a net profit of 5-6k max, and then I’m out. No kidding this time. I was striving for RM 35k last time and was on a winning streak for the first 3 days, and lost on the 4th day, incidentally the day when I was asked for my MyKad. Mind, I was 26 when I went last time. I should be honored, but that was the day I lost so yeah, shouldn’t have gone in when I was up.
This time one night stay, win 5-6k and I’m out. Lose also out. I won’t be chasing the win, that’s what killed me last time.
Hmm…bet with you ar. Can. Tomorrow. Big 2 or Blackjack only though. But problem is you don’t bet with friends with high limits, CNY betting is more for fun. I’m planning to go to Genting for a purpose one. Win back my losses. =D
Jade Zheng: Yeah, it’s a very interesting read! πŸ™‚
I’m hooked on it right now, Chapter 3 dy.
    Eh, when go piercing?
Mellissa: Eh, at least you have a reunion dinner. πŸ˜‰
Plus point for me was, driving just now was a breeze! Not much traffic on the LDP at all, which is very rare. I take the LDP every day to work.
sim: Yeah, I’ll love to see it! πŸ™‚
hitomi: Can go up just for fun what. Got about 3 people going dy, if you want to follow, text me.
Okay, if I win my target of 5-6k, the abalone + sharks fin dinner for everyone on me. I think it’s RM 99 promo last time I went, they’re having the promo again.
joshuaongys: Good, good. Target is Friday, drive up 10-11 am, drive down the next day. I’ll just go into the casino first thing. I very fast one. I bet table maximum on every bet, and once I hit my target, I chao dy.
Then we can go on the rides and all that. Dinner on me if I win 5-6k. =D
imantulen: DWI? No lah, I will only DUI. πŸ˜‰
Kidding, kidding. Not on the booze until 16th February.
Jac: Okay, Friday sounds about good to you? Text me or MSN me – and let’s MAKE THIS HAPPEN. =D
clement: Yeah, unfortunately I won’t be able to make it back. Nevertheless, I hope Lady Luck will favor me with her smile in Genting. =D
Skwermy: Haha! Good one. I love the Teletubbies version too. πŸ™‚
seth.frostheart: Yeah, that’ll be great. Text me k?
Anyway, I’ll be going to Ipoh tomorrow morning too. ETD 10 am from KL. Staying one night.
anngee: Yeah, it’s a really good book. Engrossing read. πŸ™‚
cherry: Yeah, I will be very bored tonight. No worries, just sleep early and drive to Ipoh tomorrow.

  9. Post very nicely written, and it contains useful facts. I am happy to find your distinguished way of writing the post. Now you make it easy for me to understand and implement. Thanks for sharing with us.

  10. Hi I came across this website by mistake after i was searching yahoo just for this issue, I have to say your websites are really helpful I additionally love the theme, its amazing!. I dont have very much time and energy to read all your post at this time but We have bookmarked it and in addition signed up for your RSS feeds. 11. This is my first time i visit here. I discovered so many entertaining stuff in your blog, especially its discussion. From the tons of feedback in your articles, I guess I’m not the one one having all of the enjoyment right here! Keep up the nice work.

  12. Throughout the grand pattern of things you actually secure an A for effort. Where exactly you misplaced everybody was first on your details. As as the maxim goes, the devil is in the details… And that couldn’t be more correct here. Having said that, allow me reveal to you what did work. Your writing can be highly engaging and this is most likely the reason why I am making an effort in order to opine. I do not really make it a regular habit of doing that. Second, although I can notice the jumps in logic you come up with, I am not really confident of exactly how you appear to connect your points which in turn make the conclusion. For now I shall yield to your issue however trust in the foreseeable future you actually link the facts much better.

  13. Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It’s very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.

  14. Thanks for your post. 1 other thing is when that you are disposing your property all on your personal, among the difficulties you require to be aware about upfront is just how to deal with residence inspection accounts. As a FSBO supplier, the key about successfully shifting your property in addition to saving funds in real estate agent commission rates is information. The far more you realize, the smoother your sales effort may possibly be. 1 location in which this is particularly critical is inspection reports.

  15. Nice post. I was checking continuously this site and I’m impressed! Extremely useful info especially the last part I care for such info much. I was looking for this particular information for a long time. Thank you and best of luck.

  16. The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.

  17. I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)

  18. Sorry for the huge review, but I’m really loving the new Zune, and hope this, as well as the excellent reviews some other people have written, will help you decide if it’s the right choice for you.

  19. Between me and my husband we’ve owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I’ve settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.

  20. I simply wanted to appreciate you once more. I am not sure the things that I could possibly have undertaken without the type of smart ideas discussed by you on such a concern. It previously was a real frustrating dilemma in my view, nevertheless finding out a skilled avenue you handled the issue took me to weep over contentment. Now i’m happier for the service and then hope you know what an amazing job that you are getting into teaching the mediocre ones by way of your website. I am sure you’ve never met any of us.

  21. Good article. It is rather unfortunate that over the last several years, the travel industry has had to deal with terrorism, SARS, tsunamis, flu virus, swine flu, as well as the first ever entire global economic depression. Through everthing the industry has really proven to be solid, resilient as well as dynamic, obtaining new tips on how to deal with hardship. There are often fresh complications and the possiblility to which the marketplace must just as before adapt and behave.

  22. Many many thanks you incredibly a great deal for this wonderful and definitely insightful subject material. Any person could get good info from this text.terrific get the career done maintain it up. I’m going to bookmark this website for arrived back again once again in long run.

  23. This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.

  24. Write more, thats all I have to say. Literally, it seems as though you relied on the video to make your point. You obviously know what youre talking about, why throw away your intelligence on just posting videos to your blog when you could be giving us something informative to read?
