Car clamping policy in 1Utama

car no clamp

I have always wondered about car clamping in 1Utama. There was once I pushed my luck and blocked practically half an access road for eight (!) hours and the car was still there, sans scratches or clamps. I don’t usually do it though, it was an experiment of sorts.

Okay, it wasn’t, I was just irritated at not being able to find a parking space. :p

I had to do it again today coz I was running really late for dinner with Yiling and SOMEONE (not Yiling) gave me wrong directions, resulting in a massive 20 minutes wasted on the road from the congestion and a massive U turn.

yiling notes

I was at Coca Restaurant courtesy of Andrea and I kinda gave Yiling a hard time coz she was late for our last eating expedition at Bondi Beach. I felt really bad coz I was late for 30 minutes this time!

I guess people who knows me realize that I have a thing about time. Okay, I’m very particular about time which is the reason I go to the office at 8 am even though work starts at 9 am. Unfortunately, I was late today coz I had to drop off someone (the very same person who gave me the wrong directions to 1U).

I don’t like people making me wait (coz it shows that you don’t respect my time) and in turn, I don’t like making people wait.

I tend to be early and I was – arrived 6:55 pm for a 7:15 pm appointment on the WRONG side of 1U and had to make a huge U turn to get to the parking bays. It was 7:09 pm (yeah, you can tell I’m a bit obsessed with time :p) when I drove down to basement parking so I just parked at the nearest entrance and made sure I had RM 50 for the unclamping if it happens.

It took a good 15 minutes to find Coca and I had to rendezvous in front of Jusco with Yiling to actually find the place. Oh well, at least I was in time for the reservation but Yiling had been there since 6:55 pm and I felt really bad since I was the one who told her (repetitively) not to be late. I’m really sorry Yiling!

The worst thing was, she was really cool about it, which made me feel bad about last time. I guess I have a few things to learn from this soon-to-be mass murderer. πŸ˜‰

coca pre us

Anyway, dinner at Coca Restaurant was great, will post up the full review first thing tomorrow morning. πŸ™‚

I need sleep, I know coz I’m being verbose and writing random stuff and shit. :p

BTW, Cheryl, we were actually still having dinner inside Coca Restaurant when you came over to collect the voucher just now. πŸ™‚

  1. Something in common : I absolutely hate people being late! Unfortunately, typical Malaysians are always late! There are times when i “try to be late” but i still will always end up being one of the early ones. and sometimes i doubt being on time is a good thing because waiting for people can be really frustrating!

  3. its good to be punctual. i hate people being late if it only means by 5 minutes. although i can’t say i’m always punctual at all time, but i’ll try my best to arrive 10 minutes earlier. a pity that my friend doesn’t appreciate and only start dressing up 5 minutes before the agreed time… geramnya….
sorry…didn’t mean to vent my anger here… but i salute your punctuality…

  4. Haha, I’ve no problems with people being late as long as they don’t keep me waiting for more than half hour! I give myself a +/- 20 mins. Luckily the appointment was at a shopping mall so I can go shopping while waiting for you.
Anyway, we’re even now and start on a clean slate ok? πŸ˜‰

  5. Naoko: Yeah, I was counting on the fact that they didn’t clamp my car last time. Besides, I was running late so yeah, I just parked to at the nearest entry point.
    chefmel: I know! πŸ™‚
I’m always early one. I have a thing about time, I don’t know why. I think it’s coz of this time when I was a kid at the library and the library closes at 9 pm and I was in the toilet and they locked me in. Traumatic experience.
ShaolinTiger: Great! I shall keep that in mind next time. πŸ™‚
Michale (Mike): Yeah, GPS is the best ever. πŸ™‚
KY: Haha! It wasn’t a dude, it was my ex. πŸ™‚
WEEN: Yup, she has this uber cool lens for photographing food. She’s great at food photography too. Attention to detail.
    cindy: Thanks! πŸ™‚
Welcome to the Early Birds Club! πŸ™‚
No worries, I guess we’re all raised differently and have different perceptions as we grow up so some people do it (which they have valid reasons for, it’s not always an insult to your time) and some people just don’t. πŸ™‚
    YilingL: I’m sorry!
Yeah, we’re more than even now and I seriously have to beat your time coz when you said you’re not going to be late you were actually there early. I had to drop someone off, which was why I was late.
Clean slate. I shall never accuse you of being late again, nor remind you to be on time. πŸ™‚
Gin: Haha! Erm…well…I called at 10 am to tell you I am probably going to be late coz I don’t know the way to Cheras really well and I took a wrong turn (several actually). Sorry!
Ya bit ironic, and just the day after I posted too. πŸ™
Jade Zheng: Hmm…well, it’s kinda hard to find parking in 1U unless you’re really lucky so if I find myself searching for one for more than 30 minutes, I’ll just park illegally. πŸ™‚

  6. wow. it is nice to meet someone who is a mirror image. mayhap it comes from military training, but i cannot stand to be late. time on target, you know. tick tock. i keep all the clocks in my house 11 min ahead, just to make sure i am on time. when i visit my older sister, she knows this and sets her clocks BACK, just to piss me off, i guess. like on the way to church, running late as it is, she will stop at mcdonalds. She is a great person, but i guess we love to irritate each other. i just need to learn to take it easy. it is not a bad thing(ie whatsoever thy hand finds,do it with all thy might- book of exdous, i think 9-12), just needs to be channeled for everyone’s benifit I am glad to know i ain’ t the only one in the world like this. ps, do you think it might be temp. related? my normal temp is 99.6 f. no i don’t take my temp all the time, but its always been that way: almost kept me out of the air force and it freaks the md’s out. sorry for the long post,hb. god bless, tom

  7. tom: Hmm…interesting theory you have there. I know a few people with a fixation about time, but not many. Perhaps we just need to chill out a bit, are you a highly agitated, excitable person? I’m kinda like that. I walk fast, I drive fast, I eat fast. I feel time on the road is time wasted. I like to maximize my time coz I don’t have enough of it.
I haven’t measured my body temperature at, great theory, but I’m always hot. I like air conditioning and cannot stand heat. It makes me irritable and prone to anger.
I shall measure and get back to you.
Nice quote from Exodus and you’re not alone my friend. Be well. πŸ™‚
