Nuffnang Bloggers Dinner @ The Apartment, Downtown

apartment downtown

Nuffnang invited several bloggers to The Apartment Downtown @ Suria KLCC for dinner. It’s more of a meet and greet social dinner as a prelude to discussing some Serious Issues (TM).

apartment starters

We were served Cranberry Juice (great for UTIs) and a variety of starters which includes stuffed squid, pita bread with a curious combination of butter and cheese, stuffed eggplant, and chicken liver pate.

apartment pamsong

I think the last one scarred Pam a little…she’s a very PETA type person. I hesitate to label her as a tree hugger coz the reason she doesn’t like pork and stuff like that is due to the offense it instigates to her olfactory senses.

apartment mains

The main dishes arrived after that with highlights being the lamb, creamy melt-in-your-mouth cous cous, salmon with udon noodles and mussels cooked in curry. I notice a distinctive apprehension at my table whenever I took a mussel. I realized it’s due to my poor motor coordination in opening up the shell and spearing the flesh inside. Pam actually warned me not to send the poor crustacean flying. I think she also mentioned something detrimental to my well-being if any landed on her. πŸ˜‰

apartment dessert

The dessert was individually served with chocolate mousse, meringue (reminds me of Pavlova actually), and some peanut butter infused creation. It was great!

We adjourned upstairs to have a discussion about several pressing issues relevant to the blogsphere…

apartment tzia

…before the camwhoring started in earnest. This is Tzia, featured blogger of the month.

apartment audrey

Audrey, of 4 feet nine fame!

apartment pam

Pamela Song a.k.a. my nemesis! We’re just pretending to be nice here one. Posing for the digicam, usually we can be seen disagreeing vehemently. πŸ˜‰

apartment carol

Carol Koh! I less than 3 you! =D

apartment cindy

Cindy

apartment ringo

…and Rin.

apartment camwhore

Plus a lot of other camwhoring shots!

apartment group

It was a great night of fellowship among the Nuffnang staff and the bloggers. It’s kinda like church and cell group meetings, except we don’t have a Jesus. πŸ˜‰ It’s great for building rapport and all that corporate speak. I’m looking forward to the next one already. πŸ™‚

  2. So It Is Written
A priest was lecturing on the Bible one Sunday morning. He said to the congregation, “You know, the Bible has an answer for everything. The reason for that is that the people in the Bible have all, at one time or another, been in the same situations you have.”
    “Even PMS?” a woman asked.
“Yes, I assure you, PMS is in there. Tell you what, I’ll look for it and tell you the passage at Mass next week.”
So everyone goes home, and the priest is looking for the passage and Sunday comes around.
He gets in front of the congregation and begins his Homily in Mass. “People, I have found the passage in the Bible referring to PMS.”
“Really, Father? Where?” the lady asked.
“It’s right here in this passage where it says, ‘And Mary rode Joseph’s ass all the way to Bethlehem’.”

  6. Hb, thanks for this post. Re the cranberry juice, I would also add that sour red cherry juice is great for gout, which some might need to know, if they like chicken livers or pate.( I can’t have it anymore due to that). I dont have too many peta relates issues, but I dont eat veal anymore, and I never could afford foie gras anyway. I like mussels ok, and love oysters and clam chowder, but have never gotten up the nerve to try an escargot(snail), even though they are pretty much the same I guess. Strange. What was the squid stuffed with? I have only ate it as calamari; kind of like onion rings; sliced, breaded, and deep fried,, served with marinara sauce). Wishing you well.

  7. Also, to DYMM Tuanku, thanks for sharing that joke. As one who has seriously considered becoming a Priest, I have heard most, many from other pastors. That is new to me. We are made in God’s image, and I reakon He laughs. Why shouldn’t we.

  8. cindy khor: Yeah, thus the popularity of vodka and cranberry juice in the late 90’s. πŸ™‚
DYMM Tuanku: Haha! I actually found that really funny. πŸ™‚
I guess we both have the same sense of humor. πŸ˜‰
ShaolinTiger: Amen to that, brother! πŸ™‚
aud: Yeah, it would have been nice to talk more to you too. Haven’t seen you since Singapore except for bits and pieces in screenings and such. Seating arrangement problems. πŸ™‚
guest: She is still fresh and bubbly (and retains her wit too boot).
kampungboycitygal: Haha! Then die la, ajaran sesat already. πŸ˜‰
The Messiah being a person and all. Heh!
Hey it was great meeting with the both of you that night.
WEEN: Oh, then you’ll just love the photos of her in a Catwoman suit. Meow!
Yatz: It was fun, meeting up with all of them. πŸ™‚
tzia: Yeah, it is, very popular with women for that reason. Guys don’t get UTIs much due to the different configuration in plumbing. I think I’ve only got it once when I was a little kid.
hitomi: English? Why are we talking about English?
Oh wait, I know, don’t reply on the blog. :p
andrew: I thought it was alright…the food I mean. I really liked the chicken liver pate and would have eaten more of it.
pamsong: You have to catch me on MSN at night. πŸ™‚
I’ll be online tonight, not sure what time though. =D
    Leverage. I haz it. πŸ˜‰
hyperX: Yeah, it’s a great get-together organized by the good people at Nuffnang. πŸ™‚
Michael (Mike): Well, if he stays at home and don’t go out to meet people how can he expect to reasonably meet someone? Dodgy dating sites aside.
jolene: I rather liked the food. The chicken liver pate is great!
Chriso: I like the taste of cranberry juice too. Used to be the domain of ladies, but MEN CAN DRINK CRANBERRY JUICE TOO WTF. I’m glad you second that. πŸ™‚
Simon Seow: The presentation of the food there was excellant.
tom: Thanks for the informative comment, my friend. I’m still pretty much okay in the food department, can eat what I want to. Yeah, we’re worlds apart but we have a lot of similarities too eh?
    Wish you well, my friend.
