Condominium mail

condo mail

The logistics of condominium mail is bound to produce some interesting results. The occupancy density practically guarantees it. The system at my condo is quite secure (if you trust the fallible homo sapiens) – no one gets in or out to deliver mail. The mail is passed to the guardhouse, who distributes it to the respective resident’s mailbox. I opened mine yesterday to get my Streamyx bill and was aghast at the sheer amount of correspondence inside.

There were four (4) different people’s worth of mail inside. I recognize one as my landlord, there were two other girls – Adeline and Siew Choon, and a guy named Suresh. There is  another envelope that was supposed to be delivered to Kelana Parkview Condominium (which isn’t my condo and is quite a distance away).

I don’t really trust the system so I prefer to have my mail sent to my mailing address in Sibu.

Anyway, about the fire, all has been resolved. My landlord asked me to pay for the cabinets, which is fair enough. The condo management didn’t ask me to pay for the damage and got an electrician to fix my power for free.

I guess that’s the plus point of condo maintenance fees. πŸ˜‰

  1. eiling: There was a faulty plug…electrical wiring gone wrong. Not a big deal, just took out the power to my floor and charred some cabinets.
    Thanks for the concern! πŸ™‚
Yiling: Nope, this is seriously not my fault. I was asleep when it happened. My neighbour woke me up at 12 telling me he smelled smoke. I didn’t smell it coz I was sleeping on the floor in my bedroom, which is air conditioned and the kitchen is outside and closer to his open kitchen. πŸ™‚
ah loon: Nope, no one was injured. Cheers! πŸ™‚
Implosion: Nah, mine just have about two blocks of 24-26 floors each. Relatively small compared to the other mammoth condos out there.
ShaolinTiger: Electrical fire at my kitchen. It was put out by a neighbour with a fire extinguisher, which I didn’t have. Good thing. πŸ™‚
Lev: Heh! Nah, seriously, I was asleep at the time. I was told it’s an electrical wiring issue.
headsteadi: I’m not, why would I want to burn down my own place? πŸ™‚

  2. You don’t know it is faulty?? If you do, should not have using it right?

  3. Dude, sue the owner for the faulty electrical. It’s his frigging apartment, therefore the wiring is his. Tell him to fix his own cabinet, kiss yr ass & you will call it even then… ;-))

  4. Dude, did you plug 15 electrical devices into a single socket using multiple adapter? I remember my days of electrical wiring Kuching style with SIRIM unapproved flimsy wires, no currant load calculation either.

  5. HB, My friend who lived in an apt had mails stolen off and on so got now a P.O.Box for all his mails and packages.
Theifs are everywhere when you think that person can be trusted but no. Apt mgr and workers cannot be trusted packages stoled and UPS record delivered that date and address and signed so now face court trial and fine.

Apt.Mgr. and workers looks honest but were not. UPS record showed package deliver that date and time and who sign it. It was one of workers and he kept it. Now face court trial and fine.

  7. Myhorng: Faulty electrical wiring. :S
hitomi: Nope, I didn’t know. I wasn’t even using it, it was just plugged it. I think the contractor messed up our wiring since the entire floor’s wiring shorted out. That shouldn’t happen with proper wiring.
headsteadi: Perhaps for fire insurance if I really own the place. I’m just renting the place. πŸ˜‰
Jade Zheng: Eh, not him la. He asked me to pay for the cabinets. It’s the condo management who fixed my wiring and all that for free.
Z0E: Yup, alive and kicking. πŸ˜‰
    Thanks for the concern!
DYMM_ Tuanku: I think the faulty wiring is not his fault but the contractor of the condo. :S
How can I short out the entire floor? The wiring should be isolated.
cindy khor: Thanks! Unfortunately I couldn’t update coz had some stuff to deal with. Schedule back to normal now. πŸ˜‰
    tzia: Indeed! πŸ™‚
I would have been really broke if I had to pay for wiring.
e: Nope, I hardly have any stuff at home. Just two notebooks and a wireless AP. It’s just faulty wiring.
Jeff: Yeah, but then again you’re talking about a single socket that took out an entire floor’s power. Something is wrong somewhere and I don’t mean me. I won’t complain though since the condo management was so nice.
    beck: Small kitchen fire. :S
Michael (Mike): Yeah, I have that problem too…which is why the important mail I have is delivered to Sibu. πŸ™‚
