Timothy and Audrey’s Up Themed Wedding in Penang

up wedding

I just came back from Penang! Tim and Aud had their Up themed wedding last night, on the 28th of July 2012 – a date I’m sure will be plenty significant to them for the rest of their lives. πŸ™‚

The wedding was held at Straits Quay Convention Center and the place was done up really nicely according to the theme. I really liked the floating house held up by balloons.

It’s actually pretty cool to have a theme like that – there were helium balloons everywhere like in the animated film Up.

The food was catered from E&O Hotel and I found the first dish with the ostrich meat really good. Also on the wedding dinner menu is the signature E&O Pe Pa Duck. Gotta love the wedding favors – it’s a mini jar of honey that says β€œMeant to Bee Together”.

I really liked how the couple looks so happy in this photo while pouring champagne.

It’s pretty much like a fairytale wedding in that everything was fascinating and wondrous to behold, since there were bright colors everywhere.

Congratulations Mr and Mrs Tiah! Here’s to an adventure of a lifetime and may you both grow old loving each other for a thousand years! πŸ˜‰

    • Yeah, it was like a fairy tale wedding – love the colorful theme from Up and there’s a lot of references too.

That house was *really* floating – no wires, held up by balloons. πŸ™‚

  2. someone suggested to have a Beauty (aud) & the Beast (tim) theme instead; but i guess that was scrapped due to some strong opposition from someone….

  3. The wedding reception surely looks unique with a bit of Up! theme and a bit of the Chinese wedding theme. =D I wonder how Mr and Mrs Tiah got the idea…

May the wedding couple have a blessed married life with happiness, love and respect! =)

    • Dude, it’s the happiest day of their lives, it’s their wedding mate.

Good rhyming, but commenting as Tim isn’t cool man.

Unless your real name is Tim too. Heh.

  4. HB, wonderful wedding. In states they prefer all white or gold for the balloons keep mult color for birthdays Ostrich meat seem so good and such a large platter of it. Was it a part Chinese dinner? Were there a garter tossing for guys? Who ever caught it will next to marry.

    • Yeah, that’s why it’s special – it’s very colorful and I like the floating house. It’s not held up by wires – the helium balloons keeps it afloat. πŸ™‚

Yup, it’s a Chinese dinner but the garter throwing tradition isn’t Malaysian, that’s a US thing, we don’t have it here. At least I’ve never seen it.

    • Heh! I actually write about every wedding that I attend, unless it’s not a personal invitation e.g. parent’s friends inviting the entire family.

My wedding? Well, I’ve got plans for it but I don’t think it’s going to happen that soon.

You know what I’ll like though? I’ll buy a entire cask of Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel and have it engraved – it comes with a neckband that would say what you like too.

It’s no single malt but what’s cool is that you get about 200+ bottles from it (give or take – some of it gets evaporated or tasted but minimum is around 240 bottles according to them). You get to keep the cask too and the best thing?

You can keep 20-30 bottles and open it during your anniversary. I reckon that would be something special, having your own bottle and commemorating your wedding each year. Well, that’s my plan anyway. πŸ™‚

    • Yeah, it is eh? I love how they decorated the entire place and made the Up theme consistent. πŸ™‚

It’s beautiful, and that floating house from Up is really held up by helium balloons and nothing else. Impressive, I saw a YouTube video of someone doing that to an actual house too…

…but obviously that would be impossible to do here. πŸ˜€

The second video of their ROM is very sweet too!

    • Hello Leanne! πŸ™‚

Yeah, she looks awesome in the wedding gown.

Unfortunate that shadow thing, I don’t have any other photos from that night, but there’s heaps on Tim and Aud’s blogs. πŸ˜€
