This is the honeymoon suite we stayed in on our trip to Phillip Island. Swan Lake Guest House is more beautiful than I had imagined β with 4 hectares of land and 5 luxurious suites to choose from. Odette & Siegfried’s Room is the honeymoon suite.
The room looks out to romantic sea views and beautiful sunsets. There’s also a private balcony with extensive views of Western Port Bay and Bass Strait. You can feel the gale-force winds blowing at night but it’s very serene and chill in the daylight.
This is the only time we used the ensuite jacuzzi in Melbourne (technically Victoria). Haha!
It’s AUD 270 per night (about RM 900) but it’s well worth the price. The service from Bernie is impeccable!
I had asked for flowers in the room for my love (I was thinking of a bouquet) and when we arrived, the kind lady proprietor (Bernie) subtly told me that it wasn’t ready and she’s heading to the market to get it done.
She was thinking fresh flowers in a vase.
Close enough, I guess. Heh! It’s the thought that matters. She wouldn’t accept a tip either, very kind of her.
There was tea service the moment we arrived, with a wide variety of choices and chocolate biscuits.
We had the entire place to ourselves since it wasn’t the peak season and the privacy and views are to die for! The main living room is immaculately decorated with a real fire place!
Swan Lake Guest House is a mixture of a guest house and a B&B (Bed & Breakfast) β albeit a premium one with all the privacy you need. The breakfast spread was nothing short of lavish!
Our kind host brought out warm croissants and had coffee and tea brewing.
Fresh juices and three (3) different types of milk were produced.
BREAD!!! There’s a lot of local Phillip Island produced bread β country, multi-grain and multi-cereal and also this fruit packed loaf that we both liked.
There’s also a big bowl of single serve cereal boxes to choose from…
…as well as ham, cheese and other cold cuts. I remember asking Ling how she knew we weren’t Muslim or had other specific dietary requirements that forbids pork. π
I had my eye on something that’s *not commercial* when I planned for our stay at Phillip Island. I told Ling that I’ll take care of it coz I wanted her to have a nice stay without worrying about the cost. This place fits the bill perfectly.
I’ll highly recommend Swan Lake Guest House if you want to stay at Ventnor in Phillip Island. It’s very close to the Penguin Parade. The service is second to none β the owner is friendly and goes out of her way to accommodate your whims. The place is nestled in a huge farmland and you can see the sea from the private balcony.
There’s a lot of rooms but only one is the largest (and most expensive) meant for honeymooners and that’s Odette & Siegfried’s Room. You won’t be disappointed. I think we only went to bed at around 4 am coz we stayed in the jacuzzi till late. She loved it, and so did I. <3
We were both so tired when we took the V/Line coach back to Melbourne that Ling slept most of the way through. Thanks for making the stay memorable for us. π
Dude…I’d have asked for Tim-Tam-Slam during tea time.
Haha! Yeah, I wanted to show her how to do that too but forgot! π
We had Tim Tams but didn’t do the Tim Tam Slam. Alas!
Oh well, I can still show her. I was just talking about it on the trip.
Good on you, brother. Glad to hear you’re doing so well. I’ve been reading since way back and I’ve never seen you look so happy. I’m happy for you.
Thanks bro! π
Yeah, I’m really happy with her. I’m lucky to have her in my life and it’s all good.
We had a great vacation in Melbourne together and we’re planning for the next overseas trip dy. I also have one upcoming one with her on my birthday.
Cheers for the well wishes and thanks for reading buddy! Hope all is good with you.
Nice homely place…
Yup, the owner is a very kind lady too! π
She accommodated all our last minute requests and even managed to arrange car rental for us coz Phillip Island only has a couple of taxis so we couldn’t get around that way. The place is near the Penguin Parade though but walking at night would be quite dangerous and Cowes has *very limited* streetlights.
I was driving at night with just my headlights illuminating the road. Haha!
Damn. And I thought Cikgu’s blog is the only one I should avoid before taking bfast. Looking at all these makes me feel so hungry!
ps: Love the place. Very homey and really perfect for people who wants privacy. And love how they name the place after the Swan lake play too.
Haha! The bread and cereal is quite good! I think you’ll like it there Eli! π
It’s a very quiet and serene place with lots of privacy. If you liked the reference, there’s even a Tchaikovsky Room (which is the main living area). All the 5 suites are named after Swan Lake.
Our suite overlooks the front and you can see flatlands until the sea. Very nice!
The food is really good too, healthy rural (well, Cowes has only a few shops in town and lots of farms and cows and horses) bread and milk. I love it! π
Wow Aud 270 for a night! How many beds available for sharing? I reckon it should be alright since the services and foods were awesome! Must be a very good place to relax and enjoy the holidays!
Yeah, but that’s not the most expensive one – the most expensive hotel we had was Rydges on Swanston on our second night. It’s AUD 680 which makes it RM 2,200 (!!!) per night! π‘
It was F1 season and all other hotels are fully booked so we had to take it. This is more expensive than some other motels and B&B in Phillip Island but worth every penny!
There’s one (1) Queen Bed in the Odette & Siegfriedβs Room – it’s meant for a couple.
There are other suites which can accommodate extra beds though. I know one of the 5 suites is for a family, and cheaper than AUD 270 – that’s the most expensive room coz it’s the honeymoon suite with private balcony, jacuzzi etc.
We totally loved our stay, and the hosts – Bernie and Les – made us feel welcome. We only saw Bernie though coz we came back late. π
Nice. Makes me feel like going to Australia now and finding one of these places to stay in winter. LOL
Cant find this in KL… *sad face*
Yeah, it would be hard to find a place as nice as this with autumn weather in Malaysia. I can’t think of any. π
It would be nice to retire to a large estate like this eh?
I’ll consider retiring in Australia, with a beachfront property like this (or at least, somewhere with lots of land and a sea view).
I like the surrounding. So serene…clean and fresh air. Nice breeze outside.
Yup, it’s really serene! π
It’s a classic wood mansion (adds a touch of class) with huge lands around it and an amazing view of the sea.
You get gale force winds at night though but that’s part of the charm! I totally loved this place, well worth the money for the stay. Better than the obscene amount we paid for Rydges on Swanston by miles. π
what a nice B&B. I would love to run a place like this on a nice island!
Yup, that would be my dream too! π
Bernie and Les, the owners actually owns and runs this place. I’ll love to do that when I retire too. It’ll be awesome!
The huge house is in a large estate with perfect views – a great spot on Phillip Island.
This is a very nice play to stay despite of the price. I’d stay here if I’m on honeymoon since it’s a once in a life time thing.
Yeah, we totally enjoyed our stay at Swan Lake Guest House! π
It’s one of the relatively unknown ones, not a franchise motel or anything like that. Personalized and warm hospitality from Bernie, a nice lady who runs the place.
I’ll go back again to the same place. It’s clean and lovely, Phillip Island was the highlight of our Melbourne trip and this place is the icing on top. π
Wish I could have a house like that and stay there forever! How tamak I am! So peaceful and serene just like what I read in the books… Great holiday!
Yeah, it would be great eh? π
It’s like something that came out of an Enid Blyton book. It’s so serene that I could live there forever, and with the nice autumn weather, it’s perfect!
We both loved our stay there, Phillip Island was the highlight of our trip.
With a view like that and such homely service, it’s well worth the price. And nothing like a sumptuous breakfast to start the day.
Yeah, the place is absolutely wonderful! π
We both loved the place! The breakfast was awesome too – great start to the day indeed, we had to go back to Melbourne after that – a 3 hour trip.
A beautiful view accompanied by a satisfying breakfast. That, my friend, looks a little like a mini-buffet. =)
Yup, the breakfast was awesome! π
We were the only ones staying there and our host Bernie put out a full spread for us. Great hospitality, our every needs were taken care of.
I wish I can live there every single day.
Such a lovely place! I would certainly happily pay for that sort of privacy and service!
Must say I am quite smitten by the room.
I was searching for someplace nice, quiet, peaceful and non-commercialized (no hotels coz we were staying at hotels in Melbourne) and stumbled upon this place. π
It fits the bill perfectly! It’s secluded and private but with great service and truly magnificent views!
We loved our stay there.
I love your photos very much! It is nice to see happy couples.
Thanks buddy! π
Yup, it’s good to be together and take a break and go on vacation. We loved our stay in Phillip Island.
