Erdinger Weissbier jelly candy from Germany!

erdinger weissbier jelly

Yup, this is real jelly candy (sorta like Haribo in texture, or gummy bears in the US) made from Erdinger Weissbier beer!

My better half saw me looking at it at the confectionery shop in Frankfurt and bought it for me. The lady there offered me a taste and I was surprised to see it’s a sourish candy that actually has a hoppy beer note so I asked what it was made of.

The jellies are actually made of Erdinger Weissbier (and sugar and flavourings) but the fact that it’s candy made of beer really sold me on it. It tasted a bit off too – certainly not for kids. I don’t know if it has much of an alcoholic content after so much cooking but I have grown to like munching on these slightly bitter sourish jelly candies!

I like how the used the proper 0,5 liter glass and also made the β€œfoam” with marshmallow mice! The marshmallow is not sweet either, there’s just a slight hint of sweetness to it, which makes it an awesome buy at 10.90 Euros.

An adult candy and a great souvenir from Germany, you can’t ask for more!

There’s also a 3 liter version for 60 Euros! smirk

Why did the 3 mice go blind? Coz there was methanol in their beer! πŸ˜€

Okay, that was quite lame. Haha!

  1. Wow I never knew they made candy with beer. Unfortunate that I’m not a big fan of the gummy bear texture sorta candy. I wonder if I munched this in the office, is it considered drinking on the job? Haha!

    • Yeah, I didn’t know they could do that too! πŸ™‚

I don’t think you’ll get into trouble for this. Haha! Like those alcohol filled chocolates the amount of liquor is probably negligible, more there for taste than inebriation.

    • There’s even a Beer Purity Law in Germany! πŸ™‚

Beer there must only have a few approved ingredients and nothing else.

    • Haha! It won’t get you drunk but they’re delicious in their own way! πŸ™‚

      It’s sour and bitter.

Yeah, I remember those from primary school too!

  2. MARSHMALLOW MICE!? πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ omgggg, that might be my new favourite thing!!! i might even change my name from sugarmouse to marshmallow mouse <3 (bit of a mouthful though) but gaaah!!! SO LOVELY! :'D

    • Yeah, it’s sooo cute eh? πŸ™‚

I love the name and I love how they look too!

They taste surprisingly mild – not the huge sugar hit you get from store bought marshmallows, probably coz this is catered more for adult tastes.

I think marshmallow mouse is a nice name!

    • Hmm…I don’t think they will get drunk! πŸ™‚

It’s like those liquor filled chocolate truffles, it’s just for flavor, not for intoxication.
