I woke up having pains and aches in places I didn’t even know existed. I had been running around the pool with the kids for several hours last night, swimming and remembering how to do stuff like:
Underwater somersaults
-_-
Haha! It was a lot of fun though, and we went just opposite the hotel to the tourist trap seafood restaurants for a bite to eat.
I wanted to head over to this cool looking place with the menus written in English and Cyrillic script (!!!) called 3 t.i.g.a. Antara (no relation to the 3 Line criminal gang) which looks like something out of the trendy beach front eateries of Bali or Boracay. I figured if you wanted to be ripped off, at least we can get ripped off…in style!
The menu was surprisingly cheap but the kids didn’t like anything on it so we walked to a Chinese seafood restaurant (which strangely serves no pork).
The place was comfortable though – we’re just beside the beach so we can feel the breeze being enhanced by the ceiling fans.
Fresh coconut (RM 4)
Now, the lady taking the order warned us that small is VERY SMALL. Sorry, that should have been very small. The wah tan hor (Medium – RM 12) that came out made us apprehensive about all the other Small orders – would there just be a few pieces?
Guinness Stout Chicken Fillets (RM 9 – Small)
Venison (Deer Meat) with Ginger & Onions (RM 15 – Small)
Fried Rice (RM 5- Small)
It turns out that there’s more than expected and everyone ate well (for just RM 57 at a tourist trap – woo hoo). It’s very forgettable food though…
Tonight is the night that we’re heading to town where the locals go for a *proper* seafood restaurant to eat the ocean’s diminishing supply of creatures – delicious treats like mantis prawn!
Tonight, we feast! *tears eagerly into a foot long cod*
Slurpsssss!!!! Food looks really good…
It’s not that good but we went to a seafood place the next day! 🙂
That’s somewhat anti-climatic though coz we thought it’ll be good but it was a fun trip nonetheless.
Why would they serve “small” portion when they know its extremely small LOL, isn’t that strange 😡
I don’t know…it puzzles me too! 🙂
I think it’s coz it’s a tourist place and they want to charge people more for it.
It’s really a very small portion!
Reading this post made me cry. I am really so happy for Ling and the two E. I am just so glad you both found each other.
Thanks Eli! 🙂
We’re happy together and that’s all that matters. It’s a lot of fun and it takes a lot of the burden off her too.
I can take the kids to the pool while she rests and vice versa. It’s all good.
Well, nothing to complain about the food… looks like everyone has a sweet smile on their faces… 🙂
Yup, the seafood dinner that we’re looking forward too wasn’t too great too! 🙂
…but what’s important is the company and the bonding, we all had heaps of fun together, especially at the pool and going chocolate shopping. Haha!
Looking forward to read your feast 😉
The Wat Tan Hor (RM12) looks nice…but I hardly see the hor fun..haha… cos they uses so many bigger size prawns.
Thanks Mel! 🙂
It’s also coz there’s not much hor fun to begin with…
…but they do have huge prawns though. It’s really small, the portion, just enough for two kids!
Everyone’s satisfied with the food… Everything finish up.. 😛
Haha! Yeah, and the next day we ordered too much and couldn’t finish it. 🙂
We did pack some of it up and finished it at night though.
It was at a famous seafood place but I honestly can’t recommend it, will write about it soon!
Nice outing and good food! Thought can meet u guys in KL last weekend but you all lari to vacation..LOL..
Yeah, it was a lot of fun! 🙂
I heard a lot of people went off during the long Raya holidays. It’s school holidays too so it’s a perfect opportunity!
liked those food picture and nice too~ =D
Thanks mate! 🙂
It’s not that good actually but we were all really hungry after playing in the pool so we ate it all up. Haha!
The company is more important than the food.
Indeed bro! 🙂
I totally agree with that. It’s always the company that’s important in any kind of trip!
What a lovely hotel and delicious dinner you had. Why body aches?? Hey you are still so young man!
Haha! I couldn’t keep up with the two kids! 🙂
They were telling me to go here and go there while at the pool and it was a huge pool. I did backflips and jaga them coz the little one is really too small for anything but the smallest pool.
The good thing about the resort is that there’s a lot of different pools of different depths – up to 2.45 meters!
the two kids are so cute !!!
Hello Rose! 🙂
Yup, they’re and fun to play with too…
…although I had aches from running here and there. Haha! I can’t keep up with two little kids who just loves the water.
It’s a good thing I love the water too!
Thank goodness you were there to play and swim with the kids, dear. Me could not have jump into the water until the next day. That also was a quick one. The kids were still so hyper upon reaching home. They only sleep at 11pm…fuuhh..
Oh well, at least they had fun during the vacation! 🙂
I was aching the next day though. Haha! The two kids have lots of energy to run around, it’s a good thing we can switch and take turns taking care of the two little ones.
It was a very fun vacation for me too dear! <3
I went to Langkawi during bulan puasa. So damn difficult to find food then! Almost died of hunger >_<
Wow! Really? I thought the resorts would have food! 🙂
I think you’re right though, it’s predominantly Malay. I hope the Pasar Ramadan is good at least. Haha!
The interesting thing about Langkawi is that the Chinese restaurants are pork free and you can see some Malays eating there too!
the hor fun was drenched under the huge prawns ar? haha
the price was okay wo seeing it’s tourist makan place 😀
Haha! There wasn’t much to begin with! 🙂
The prawns were big but the hor fun was barely enough for two kids!
They really mean small when they say small!
It happens all of the time. I think I was left with terrible muscle aches when I first trekked Bukit Kiara as a seven-year-old. The trick is getting used to the running and swimming.
Like what Melissa mentioned, I can’t see the hor fun either….
Nice! I remember being a kid and having all the energy in the world! 🙂
Yeah, the hor fun was buried under the huge prawns but there really was just a little bit of hor fun!
It was barely enough to feed two hungry kids, although I got them to eat some of the other stuff too.
I like swimming too, so I can take care of the kids in the pool while my better half rests and switch the next day! 😀
