There will be no one left behind! This is a new policy I dub CR1M – just think of it as a variation of BR1M (as in free ice CR1M, geddit ;)) to spread joy and cheer during the next few weeks.

Well, as you can probably extrapolate from my vague post – I will be running for elections!

This is a different kind of election, but important nonetheless.

I have a couple of ideas – huddle up coz it’s going to be AWESOME for all of you readers of sixthseal.com.

It’s hard living in this hot and humid weather and I want to make things easier for everyone – happiness should shared all around and here’s a simple breakdown on what I’m going to do on my election trail:

What’s a Blast?

I’m representing Cookies ‘n Cream Ice Cream and here’s a little background about it:

Flavor: It’s vanilla ice cream with lots of cookie chunks throughout

3 things I did in the past week

I’ve been sick the past couple of days and now that I’m feeling better, here’s 3 things I did last week! 🙂

1. Got on a talk show on Bernama Radio 24

This is an interview with Gerald during the 9:30 pm slot. I was at Bernama’s studio on the 5th floor and appeared on air for roughly 40 minutes.

I didn’t know where the time went! I expected it to be quite long and started talking and before I knew it, 40 minutes has passed. Heh.

I also met Jun Sern (tall guy at far right), the man in charge of the English segment and bumped into Nadia (blue tee), who’s the first person I met in Malaysia who knows who NOFX is. 🙂

2. Spoke at Nuffnang Blogopolis Malaysia 2012

It’s the first one in Malaysia and it was held at Concorde Hotel.

3. Watched The Dark Knight Rises Preview Screening

I’ll not spoil this movie for you but it’s an awesome conclusion to Nolan’s Batman trilogy, which is much darker than the previous Batman movies. I preferred the second one with The Joker but this final iteration wrapped up all the loose ends nicely and it’s a very long movie – about two and half hours!

I was hoping there will be a post-credits scene or trailer but we waited and there was none. This is the grand finale of the Nolan trilogy and it’s awesome!

I just watched it a couple of hours ago and I can’t wait to re-watch it – this time in IMAX! 🙂

Wanderlust

I travel around quite a bit. I tend to season my vacations with a healthy sprinkling of adventure since I’m a huge adrenaline junkie. I’ve gone bungee jumping, skydiving, snowboarding, and cliff jumping in various parts of the world and I pronounce it GOOD. 🙂

However, it’s not just the things that raises your heart rate that appeals to me – I love immersing myself in culture and experiencing new things. That is adventure to me as well – novelty seeking and wanderlust.

I often find myself planning for the next trip as soon as I come back. I’m pretty sure that I’ll be off somewhere when you’re reading this.

Hell, I’m going on a road trip tomorrow and another one this weekend so chances are I’ll not be at home. The wanderlust is never sated in me. 😀

I update a lot while I’m away as well (much to the chagrin of my wallet) – anything from the usual social media suspects to sending an MMS of Stonehenge to my bff. Yes, I actually did that.

You know how data roaming can be a bit tricky at times?

I’ve got a question for you:

1. You’re in Australia using your postpaid line to stay connected on Twitter, Facebook and your blog
2. There is a 3 hour time difference and you’re flying off early tomorrow
3. When do you deactivate it?

I’ve always wondered – do you get charged for another day when the clock strikes 12 midnight in Malaysia or Australia local time?

PJ Life Arts – The God of Carnage ticket giveaway on sixthseal.com!

PJ Life Arts is showing a comedy play called The God of Carnage and I’ve got two pairs of tickets to be given away thanks to Nuffnang! I’ve always loved the theatre and performances – it’s not “just live movies in real 3D” (as a film critic quipped) – it’s much better than that!

I’ve acted in a play during my high school in New Zealand and it takes a lot of practise, improvisation and quick thinking if you mess up your lines. I have a lot of respect for the people who do this and you’ll be pleased by the cast in The God of Carnage – Lina Teoh, Will Quah, Maya Tan and Megat Sharizal will be the leads in this production!

This is a play that everyone can relate to – the competition, the bottled up anger and the thinly veiled jealousy forms a large part of our daily interactions with others. The script just adds a dose of humor to all of that. You can read the synopsis here.

This show is rated 18-PL so please (as the popular sign on bars go) “B 18 or B Gone”. 😉

My Water Moments was organized for Sony Cyber-shot TX5 owners as well as bloggers and the Nuffnang contingent was there in droves!

It aims to highlight the features of the camera by a series of games and I must admit, most of it was very creative!

The first game highlights the temperature proof feature of the digicam several working TX5 cameras was placed in a box of ice cubes and the groups who managed to get the most in a set won. There was a lot of frantic digging around the ice for this activity as well as abuse meted out to the digicams in the spirit of competition…

…but have no fear! The second task was actually THROWING the TX5 INTO tubes from a distance of three meters. These tubes are color coded, matching the colors of the cameras and you’re supposed to throw the right color into the right tube. The digicam is shock proof so this was also partly to demonstrate that.

The third task illustrates the dust proof characteristics of the camera a lot of the cameras was placed into a box filled with Styrofoam and you have to dig out 10 of each color.

I saw some of the groups being overly enthusiastic and throwing the digicams to the floor but each and everyone survived.

The fourth task is one of the more interesting ones.

You’re supposed to dive underwater and grab the water proof TX5 which were floating under the water. I took this video with my very own TX5 and check out how trippy it is:

The digicams were floating around and moving with the currents in Mali Cove so it’s not easy to actually do this. I tried and I got a bad case of eye irritation from the chlorine in the water. It’s still a damn good video though and one of my best from this session. 🙂

The fifth and final task is at the Underwater Pose Station (where everyone can pose underwater and get a free photo developed). This is rather challenging as you have to be creative and defy gravity, er, I mean buoyancy by staying underwater long enough to come out with a great group pose.

Lunch was provided and it’s a proper catered lunch instead of packed stuff there’s rice dished out, chicken curry, vegetables, an omelet with generous ingredients, and honey chicken. I loved the cake and ice cream provided as dessert too.

We had a lot of fun at the My Water Moments with TX5. I liked how they blended the features of the camera into games which reflects the characteristics of it. The food was good, the games were great, and the crowd was awesome!

My only beef with it is my failed JAWS attempt. No one even noticed me. FML max.

The Astro B.yond Bloggers Night was held at Modesto’s, Desa Sri Hartamas last Wednesday. It was a blast – Nuffnangers packed the place to the rafters despite it being a working weekday.

I went to the venue early in the afternoon. Besides helping Caydence stick up stuff in the toilets, I was slated to be the MC for the on-ground game so I had to be there for the dry run.

You know how much sheer effort goes into organizing an event like this?

I used a calculator to work the figures out and it damn near exploded on me. Suffice to say it takes A Whole Goddamn Lot (TM) of effort to make it happen.

There was a HD New Year Resolution video shoot at Desa Park City a couple of weeks ago to debut at the Astro B.yond Bloggers Night.

It took the better part of the afternoon under the hot sun to wrap up the shoot. Desa Park City is a nice location but apparently the management does not believe in foliage which provides shade. 😉

The blogger’s NY resolution video was sent off to a studio for post-production and shown in full HD glory during the night.

I brought a change of clothes to Modesto’s so I can wear a t-shirt inside the venue. We stuck up all the clues and rehearsed for the re-enactment with Fresh.

The Murder in the Details game is a Facebook application that we organized an on-ground activation for (damn big words right? England powderful) and it involves sourcing around for an acceptable murder weapon. I wanted it to be realistic – as in a real knife – but apparently there were apprehensions about having that on stage so I borrowed one from Modesto’s.

It’s a butter knife so it’s not going to kill anyone. Hey, I’m the one being stabbed so no worries on that. :p

The Astro B.yond Bloggers Night started with a speech from Mr. Henry Tan, the COO of Astro, segueing nicely into the HD video shoot of the bloggers.

I nearly jizzed in my pants when the Astro B.yond HD TVC came on. It’s a very nicely done commercial, and we’re the first to see it! I particularly liked the scene where the football player catches the ball while falling into a swimming pool with another one passing by him.

Dinner was served, along with free flow of drinks. I was running around the entire night so mine consists of a few bites of pasta I nicked from Li Yen and Eileen.

The Asian Percussion group came in to do their thing right before the Murder in the Details game. I remember them from the Astro B.yond media launch and was impressed by their performance.

Catch them in action here! This is not HD quality I’m afraid, don’t have such equipment in my arsenal.

There are four (4) clues which you need to get right by using a magnifying glass to analyze the A4 laminated pieces of paper scattered throughout the area in order to qualify for an (educated?) guess.

The fifth and final clue is the deal-breaker – it’ll be obvious who the murderer is if you spot that so I took the liberty of pasting it UNDER the tables. 😉

The response from the crowd was fantastic! Kudos to all the people who dragged the Nuffies on stage and identified them as the “murderer” – there were a lot of red herrings (no pun intended) coz every Nuffie was wearing red and we all had Band Aids. Heh!

Jestina was one of the people who were identified as the murderer. How can? She’s like the nicest person I know okay? :p

The murderer is Fresh of Nuffnang. She’s a very nice (ran out of adjectives and F7 in Word is not helping much) person as well, except when she stabbed me. T_T

The re-enacment of the story involved me, Fresh and Robb – basically the story goes like this:

Fresh (my wife) walked in on me during an intimate moment with another man (Robb). She got agitated and in a fit of jealousy, stabbed me with a knife. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. >.<

Appalled that her temporary insanity caused the fatality of her husband (so this is what they mean when they say “Till death do us part“) she fled the scene and cut her hand on a piece of glass. Robb, after taking all of 3 seconds to mourn my death, also fled the scene using the same route.

I left the event at about 1:30 am with Caydence and had a hard time getting my brain to function properly the next day, but I can say with all honesty and enthusiasm – it was a damn good event. I enjoyed myself to the max.

Oi! Don’t look at me liddat k? I’m not being hard sell, it just feels good to pull off an event like this and watch everyone enjoy themselves.

Live Mannequin blogathon 2009

Nuffnang and OGAWA dinner @ TGIF

There’s no such thing as a free lunch, or so the saying goes. However, I went to TGIF @ Pavilion a couple of weeks ago for not just a free dinner, but a free massage to boot. Nuffnang and OGAWA organized a get-together for bloggers and I went straight after work, anticipating good food, great company and perhaps even a massage session thrown in for good measure.

I was sold. I’ve been working long hours and there’s nothing I want more than some good chow and a nice, relaxing session on a massage chair.

I went straight after work and since my office is in PJ, it took me a while to get to the heart of KL. I was famished by the time I arrived. The food at TGIF was great; I love the lamb chop with mint sauce and the mouth-watering BBQ chicken. Yums. I helped myself to a larger portion than usual and stuffed myself so much I felt like dozing off.

The Usual Suspects (TM) a.k.a. The Nuffnangers were there in force and we took up half of the entire TGIF outlet. There was a good mix of bloggers this time around. I met a lot of people who I haven’t seen in a while. The dinner concluded with half of us going over to OGAWA for a hands-on (or butt-on) experience with the OGAWA Smart Mate and the OGAWA SmartAire.

I went on the OGAWA Smart Mate and it’s a good massage chair. However, the one I’m really interested in is the new OGAWA SmartAire.

Okay, I must admit that I was intrigued by the OGAWA SmartAire which lays claim to the first Zero Gravity massage chair in town. How can this be achieved with the g = 9.8 m/s2 = 32.2 ft/s2 equation that has been drilled into us in high school Physics classes?

It apparently works by reclining you into a 126 degree position which takes the burden of gravity off your spine. You’ll look mighty ridiculous…but you can proudly proclaim to feel great while at it! 😉

It felt so good that I didn’t feel like getting off the chair at all. The sales personnel showed me the rollers which feel like human hands massaging you (it actually does!) and put me on a yoga setting that I thoroughly enjoyed.

It felt like I was almost floating, without the constant reminder of my bad posture and my neck pain. The 25 air massage bags felt like someone was actually massaging me in a spa (without the happy ending, of course ;)).

I volunteered to be Carol‘s assistant tour guide for the second batch of people since I’ve gleaned quite a bit of information from the Ogawa sales personnel. I spontaneously launched into a pitch on OGAWA SmartAire’s NASA technology and the reparative properties of the yoga setting while walking backwards, clutching the brochure and gesturing rather enthusiastically.

It was an impromptu thing, but even I surprised myself by being able to remember stuff like the high pillow design for support and the “uniquely designed S-track to follow the contour of your spine” while talking to the second group during the long trek from TGIF to Ogawa. I guess there’s potential for me in the tourism and hospitality industry yet. 😉

It was back to TGIF for more fun and games after that – Telephone a.k.a. Chinese Whispers (which I’ve always found mildly offensive, but it’s what I call it). It goes like this:
