Guide to killing boredom in between jobs

guide watch movie

I have had a new found freedom during the period since I resigned from Huygens Asia and before my work in Sibu and I have capitalized on this freedom to do stuff which brings me glee, like going to watch the movies at 3:15 pm. πŸ˜‰

guide monster house

It feels like I’m playing hooky from work when I’m actually not. I went to watch Monster House yesterday with Joanne. It’s actually a pretty fun thing to do to kill boredom in between jobs.

guide popcorn

Just add popcorn. πŸ˜‰

P/S – I’ve gained a staggering 10 kgs on Remeron, putting me at 70 kg instead of my usual 60 kg now. I’m going to go on phentermine when I go back to Sibu to bring it back down to the usual weight coz I don’t like carrying excess weight around.

Night view of Taman Danau Desa a.k.a. "I'm in KL!"

hb in kl

I’ve just arrived at our office in Taman Danau Desa…flew in on the late flight from Kuching to KL. I will be here for a couple of days on a business trip, so you know the drill – 016 888 3166 is the number to call if anyone wants to meet up. πŸ™‚

I’m heading out now with my CTO to grab something to eat…will update again in a while.

High fever

Hello all, I’m still alright though it seems that divine punishment
has come sooner than I expected. πŸ˜‰ I woke up today with a blistering
fever (though strangely, I was shivering from cold). My joints ached
and my nose was running like a broken faucet (tap) – caught it
yesterday. I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with influenza
(that’s flu) and I had a temperature of 39.2 degrees Celsius…though I
feel MUCH hotter than that.

The Creator at His best, smiting me down with a bad case of the flu. πŸ˜‰

‘Tis the season…

xmas louisa 05

I just received a Christmas card from my girlfriend.

xmas card 05

It’s one of the ones that plays a tune when the circuit is completed, er…I mean, when the card is opened. It flashes and muzak starts playing. Thanks Louisa!

xmas huygens 05

I also got a bundle from one of my coworkers. His girlfriend wrapped the intricate ribbon tied package.

xmas pack 05

It contains various sweets. Cheers Jordan!

I don’t really celebrate Christmas (unless you count partying as
celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, Son of Man, King of Jews, etc
etc) though. I’m more looking forward to Chinese New Year, I just
booked my tickets today, on a waiting list for the 6th of February.

How to drill without making a mess

clean drilling

I have just witnessed this wonderful synergy of common devices to
avoid making a mess while drilling. Some people came in to drill some
mounts in one side of my wall. What mounts? I’ll tell you very soon, we
have a press release coming up and also several exhibitions so I can’t
exactly keep under wraps the field I’m working in.

Anyway, this entry feels rather forced, I feel much more comfortable
venting in my quit drugs blog. That’s…that’s what a blog’s supposed
to be!

Catharsis for the soul.

Not entertainment for the masses.

Jesus, I have deluded myself for so long.

Home, sweet home, the journal for my progress.

I actually enjoy writing in that…I feel like I’m just talking to
someone who’s listening, instead of feeling pressured to entertain…

I think I’ll blog more there.

Two birds with one stone :)

kch sick cert

My apologies for the lack of updates yesterday…I had to take sick
leave due to food poisoning. I was throwing up the whole night and sat
on the porcelain throne for longer than I cared for. I called my CTO at
7:30 am to tell him I’m going to see a doctor and headed out to search
for a clinic.

I didn’t know what caused the food poisoning coz I ate:
1. Pork leg rice
2. Kampua mee
3. Mee Jawa
No, seriously, I ate all three (at different times, obviously) during the course of last night.

Anyway, I intended to head to the Saberkas area to look for clinics
but I took a wrong turn and ended up somewhere else (where exactly, I
will not reveal due to reasons which will be clear later). I tried to
drive back when I noticed a clinic. Why not, I thought, and I went in
and told the doctor about the food poisoning. He gave me some pills for
diarrhea, colic, antibiotics and milk of magnesia together with a sick
leave certificate.

kch good scripts

Now, there is a discrepancy between the medications I just mentioned
and the ones in the first photo. πŸ™‚ The other two are shown above. =D I
figured it wouldn’t hurt to try and hit the doctor for some
benzodiazepines so after he gave me all that stuff for my food
poisoning and wrote me the MC, I brought up the issue. Please note that
I didn’t plan ahead and just wore a T-shirt (visible tattoos, usually a
no no while doctor shopping here) since I didn’t decide to ask for
benzos till the last minute. To my great delight, it was fucking easy,
excuse the profanity, I’m exalted at the permascript I got from this
doctor. πŸ™‚

Me: Oh, yeah, there’s another thing. I just came to Kuching
from KL and I’ve been on benzodiazepine therapy for 4 years. I’m
running out of medication and I was wondering if you could help with
this.

Doctor: Benzodiazepines? Yeah, I have those. What did you take?

Me: I take 2 mg clonazepam mornings and 5 mg nitrazepam at night.
(That’s not my actual dose – I didn’t want to shock and awe (and alienate) the doctor with my real dose.)

Doctor: Hmm…your dosage seems quite high.

Me: Yeah, I’ve been on it for 4 years so…you know, there’s the tolerance issue…

Doctor: I understand. Well, I don’t have those here, I only
have Valium…if you want the ones you’re currently taking, you’ll have
to see (psychiatrist name). But I can give you Valium if you want.

Me: Diazepam…yeah, thanks doctor, that would help, appreciate it. Do you have any other benzodiazepines?

Doctor: Unfortunately, I only have diazepam…oh, and I’ve got phenobarbitone too.

Me: Oh great, can I have the phenobarbitone to replace my morning dose and diazepam to replace my night one?
(Phenobarbitone aka phenobarbital is a (very weak) barbiturate which
I’ve taken before, but never done a review on, and taking only diazepam
from this doctor would be a little boring, so I went for the pheno as
well. :))

Doctor: Sure…so I’ll give you 30 mg of phenobarbitone and…how much temazepam did you say you were taking again?

Me: Er…I was taking nitrazepam, not temazepam. 5 mg. The equivalency would work out to be…around 10 mg diazepam.

Doctor: Hmm…alright, but I usually replace nitrazepam and
temazepam with a same milligram, but I’ll give you 10 mg diazepam
tablets, try taking half and if it doesn’t help, then take the full
tablet. I’ll still give you 14 full tablets just in case.

Me: Thank you very much doctor. So…I’ll see you again in two weeks to get a refill?
(Testing to see if the script was permanent)

Doctor: Yup, just come to me in two weeks and I’ll give you
more tablets. Or you could just give your card (the ones that they give
registered patients) and tell the nurse to refill it without having to
come in. I’ll write a note in your history.

Me: Thanks again, I really appreciate your help doctor.

Doctor: No problems at all.

πŸ™‚ This is doctor shopping #3 (first one is the nurse bribing
fiasco, second one is for clonazepam and lorazepam which I haven’t
written, third is this, which was unplanned for, but worked out fucking
well, pardon my French).

kch generic diazepam

Anyway, these are the tablets for diazepam – generic APO-DIAZEPAM 10
mg tablets. I shall find out the LD50 values for phenobarbitone and see
if I can dump 420 mg at once. I didn’t take that much last time, but
then again, I didn’t have a high benzodiazepine tolerance then, which
IIANM is cross-tolerant with barbiturates. I will also have to find out
equivalencies and see if I have to wait two weeks for 840 mg for a
reasonably recreational experience, since I forgot all about
phenobarbitone dosages. That would happen on the only day I have free –
Saturday night, so report next week on castitas.com.

The wonders that can occur during a wrong turn while driving. πŸ™‚

Regarding my food poisoning, the throwing up has eased up though I still have to sit on the porcelain throne every hour or so…

Hong Leong Bank, Pending

hong leong pending

I went to Hong Leong Bank in Pending during my lunch break today,
closed that account and got the funds via a bank cheque, which means
I’ll have to bank it in at my Public Bank account tomorrow. This is
just a lame post to tell you why there isn’t any updates today. See ya
tomorrow.

Jesus, it just hit me how boring this post is. =D

The Last Supper

restoran_mubeen.jpg
Restoran Mubeen

I went for supper last night with Danny and Prem. I think it was
supper anyway, although it could have been breakfast or lunch or even
dinner from the night before since I haven’t had anything to eat for a
while. We were at Restoran Mubeen and I managed to choke down a plate
of maggie mee goreng. No fault of the place, mind. It’s just that my
appetite hasn’t been exactly rampaging for a while.

prem_me_danny_at_rm.jpg

This is us at Mubeen. L-R: Prem, me, Danny. I actually tried
to cancel at the last minute, because I…er, overextended myself
*cough* and I had a flight the next day (which is today) so I needed to
go to the airport at 5:30 am. Danny won’t hear any of it though and I’m
glad I went.

Which reminds me, the following three pictures was taken by him while we were eating at Mubeen:

danny_prem.jpg
Danny does Prem.

danny_hb.jpg
This is me. I hear I’ve been slurring my words, so I may not have been the most sober person in the world at that time.

danny_mubeen.jpg
This is a random shot of the area around where we were.

Anyway, Restoran Mubeen’s opening hours expired, so we moved over to the next place – Restoran/Kafe Chinonee.

chinonee.jpg
Restoran.Kafe (they couldn’t decide which one they wanted to be) Chinonee.

Prem and Danny are really nice people to talk to and it’s great to
hang out in a non-workplace context, it allows for much more
interesting conversation. πŸ˜‰ Here’s a shot of us at Chinonee:

me_danny_prem_at_cnn.jpg

L-R: Me, Danny, Prem. Chinonee closed up after a while so we
headed back. It was good catching up with them. I didn’t know where the
next couple of hours went though coz the next time I looked at the
clock it was nearly 5 am and I realized that not everything was packed
so I threw the rest into a big suitcase and obviously got to the
airport in time, coz I’m blogging from Sibu now. πŸ™‚

Excuse me, I shall reply all comments and post again tomorrow. I’ve
gone without sleep for a while and Newton is insisting that I observe
his law ever since yesterday so I’m afraid I’ll have to comply with his
unfortunately irrefutable law. I shall attempt to drive now to pick up
my completely legitimate 2 x 2 mg clonazepam daily script. Remind me to
cabut if I get into an accident because I’m sleep deprived and probably
won’t pass any thorough investigation should a formal inquisition be
made. πŸ˜‰

Blackout in Bukit Bintang area

There was a blackout along the Jalan Sultan Ismail road and the
surrounding areas (around Bukit Bintang) this afternoon. I heard the
power substation tripped and the affected areas included our workplace
up to the Bukit Bintang strip but not extending to the Kotaraya
section. Anyway, I was about go for a #2 when that happened and it’s
good that I didn’t or else I’ll be stuck in a rather dim toilet with
only the backup light…

bb_blackout.jpg
I would imagine process flow would suffer a hit in these conditions…

Anyway, word says it’ll take several hours for Tenaga National to
fix the problem so we had an early day off. I left at slightly past
4:30 pm so it was an early day for me. A spoiler here…tomorrow would
be my last day at XM Malaysia. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great place
to work in and the people are really nice but circumstances (a whole
plethora) resulted in my decision to resign. I’ve been keeping this
under wraps for a while, though I’ve been hinting at it, so no one
knows except several workmates.

It was not an easy decision to make, and I have definitely enjoyed
my time here. In reply to the questions about whether I would bum
around after that, the answer is no, but I can’t give more information
that that right now, hope you understand. I will be flying back on the
16th for my Chinese New Year break as planned and I would be based in a
different city starting February. It’s not KL and it’s not Sibu, can’t
say much more than that right now.

Anyway, for the C base that lurks around here, put your hearts at
ease, let your thoughts be free, I won’t cut any of you loose without a
lifeline, so SMS me at my usual number (no calls PLEASE, don’t
jeopardize me in my last few days in KL) and I’ll arrange
alternate…er, arrangements for you. Remember, SMS only and
expect a price freeze (*cough* actually expect a price drop, people
don’t work for free, ya know), the offer is valid so long as I could be
fucked to reply your messages even though I’m not in the scene now. πŸ˜‰

Well, I’ll be going back to drinking this wonderful soju called Jinro, blurry photo here:

jinro.jpg
You know you may have a problem with drinking when your
consumption is daily and er…you actually drink alone (well, not
technically alone, my gf is here, but she’s not drinking, I digress),
but hey, at least it’s legal.

while I watch Working Girl (yeah, I know I’m late, but I don’t watch
series that much). Great Taiwan series with Jolin as the
protagonist…for some reason some people can’t get into it, but I
enjoyed it, nearing the end now. Yup, I know my drinking is slightly
above what most people would consider “average”, so please feel free to
admonish me and I would promptly send all said admonishments to /dev/null. Thank you for the feedback.

Do not disturb, chilling out…

Today is my chill out day so excuse me while I relax and I’ll post
again and reply the comments tomorrow. I realize that I’ve been a bit
slack in that department but I’ll just say that there’s changes
about, which I can’t yet reveal due to the sensitive nature of the said
changes, but I’ll definately post about it on the 1st of February.
Who’s already looking forward to the new year? Me! I’ll be flying back
16th of January. πŸ™‚
