Patpong – Red Light District of Bangkok

patpong redlight

Patpong is the red light district of Bangkok offering live topless and nude shows in the many alleys that has pimps (promoters?) offering live shows and girls. I went to Patpong just now with MDC to check out the place at night.

patpong massage

Patpong is a lot like Petaling Street and Jalan Alor combined together – it is full of narrow and crowded alleys with the sides lined with street vendors selling everything from t-shirts to BB guns. There are also bars and the relentless glow of neon lights advertising “Hot Go Go Girls Live Show” as well as massage centers (which don’t just give you a massage if you catch my drift).

patpong vendors

Patpong is not just a red light district but also a shopping haven. There are goods ranging from bags…

patpong shirts

…to attire…

patpong shoes

…and shoes. It’s possible to get cheap stuff from here but you need to have strong bargaining skillz. I usually try and get discounts for bulk purchases and walk away if the price wasn’t right. It usually works – the vendor will beckon you back with a “OK, just for you, special price” and the deal is sealed. 😉

patpong girls

Patpong has a really lively nightlife that constitutes mostly of live shows of women in various states of undress. There are also pimps that would approach you to offer women or lap dances in addition to the various self-promoting girls standing outside their topless bars.

patpong pimps

I was walking with MDC and got accosted many times by promoters despite the fact that I seem attached. I did want to go in and check out the live shows but MDC gave me THE LOOK when I casually brought it up. One promoter who saw that blurted “Girls can also see!” which I found rather funny and kept on bugging MDC about it.

patpong gogo

She didn’t let me go so I’m sorry guys, the best I can do is show the outside of the clubs and strip dance places and the girls standing there:

Patpong is a great place to go if you want to shop for cheap goods and catch a live sex show while you’re at it but I highly recommend that you leave your girlfriend or wife back at the hotel.

Trust me, you’re gonna thank me for it. 😉

Street food in Bangkok

street food stall

I woke up this morning and walked around during peak office hours to get some food. I wanted to check out the street food by the roadside (it’s kinda like a moving hawker stall) so I ended up going to this noodle place that a lot of Thai people were at so I assume it must be good.

street food noodle girl

The friendly girl manning the noodle stall didn’t speak much English but I managed to point at a dish that most of the people there are eating. It’s a noodle dish soup with a choice of original, round or green noodles and I chose the original one.

street food water

The tables are arranged around the hawker stall and plastic stools are available for patrons to sit on. I was a bit puzzled when a little boy handed me a tin cup filled with ice until he motioned to the water containers on the table (complimentary). Iced water! Sweet.

street food noodle

This is what the noodle dish (40 baht – around RM 4) looks like – it had more ingredients than noodles. There are pork slices, pork balls, pork dumplings (they sure love their pork over here) and another kind of smaller pork dumplings at the bottom covered by wiggly noodles and vegetables in soup. It tastes surprisingly good, it’s different from the noodle offerings back home.

street food juice

I went to get some drinks after that and noticed a street hawker doing brisk business selling fresh, chilled local mandarin orange juice (20 baht – around RM 2). I saw a lot of people patronizing the stall so I deduced it must be good if local Thai office people were ordering it. The man at the stall is real friendly too and showed me how it’s done.

The local mandarin juice is really good – cold and refreshing after the hot soup meal. Check out the street food when you’re in Bangkok, it’s interesting.

Tuk-tuk in Bangkok, Thailand

tuk tuk

The tuk-tuk experience is a must have for first time Thailand visitors. Tuk Tuks are practically an icon of Bangkok – small motorized rickshaws that can seat up to three people at the back and it’s really fun to ride during breezy Bangkok nights.

tuk tuk seat

The tuk-tuk consists of a driver (who usually drives in a manner that would make most professional F1 drivers green with envy with their daredevil weaving through traffic and general disregard for safety) who takes you on a comfortable seat at the back, which is partially sealed. I went with MDC (My Dining Companion) and Jia Chui (read previous post) for the tuk-tuk experience.

tuk tuk me driver

It is advisable to negotiate the fare before going coz we got charged 300 baht (RM 30) for a trip from Siam City Hotel to Siam Square (for a comparison, a metered taxi would cost 45 baht – RM 4.50) but it was worth it coz of the photo op and the experience. I bargained for 150 baht for the return trip. This shows me with the driver and Jia Chui at the back. MDC took the photo.

tuk tuk video

Download: Tuk tuk video [sixthseal.com]
Get a virtual tuk-tuk ride! The video shows the tuk tuk going through Bangkok streets and also Jia Chui (but not MDC who must not be named, or seen for that matter).

Tuk tuk drivers will also not-so-subtly encourage you to patronize certain outlets, e.g. we got asked many times if we wanted to go to a particular seafood restaurant by the return tuk-tuk but the first tuk tuk didn’t do that so YMMV.

The Platinum Fashion Mall

platinum fashion mall

This is a public service announcement – The Platinum Fashion Mall in Bangkok is evil. It’s a wholesale emporium of attire, a shopper’s paradise and it will drain all your baht away. I think I spent 3,000 baht just on clothes just now.

platinum mall inside

The Platinum Fashion Mall has a lot of floors dedicated to all sorts of attire you can think of – I spent a lot of baht in one shop alone.

marijuana

It’s called Marijuana. How can you not buy stuff from this place? I got a lot of t-shirts for myself and also – Cherie, Irene, Joanne, David, Jimmy and Robyn, I got you all stuff from this place, you’ll love it!

platinum mall me

I ended up looking like this…and I’m not even much of a shopper! I just couldn’t resist the counter-culture, drug and sex reference t-shirts. The place is really cheap too, if you bargain, you can get probably 5 t-shirts for 500 baht (RM 50).

platinum food center

The Platinum Fashion Mall is a baht drainer coz it has its own food court as well so you can spend the entire day there if you’re so inclined (and you probably would if you visit every shop in this huge mall).

platinum food center coupon

The food court at The Platinum Fashion Mall uses a coupon system for purchasing food. There were three of us, and we each got 100 baht credit coupon cards and shared the food.

somtam pounding

I ordered Somtam (the famous Thai mango salad) with blue crabs and chicken feet (55 baht) and the mango salad was pounded into a dish that looked like this:

somtam thai mango salad

It tastes REALLY GOOD. I can’t describe how good it tastes, it was just so good that I nearly came while eating it. My dining companion (MDC from this post onwards to protect her privacy) and Jia Chui (a pharmacist from KL that I met at the hotel) both agreed somtam is THE SHIT.

somtam macro

Please do try Somtam if you’re ever in Thailand, it’s orgasmic!

me jia chui mdr

Other highlights is this dish with really hot sauce (don’t know what it’s called) that was really good as well.

thai bread make

There’s also a local home made grilled bread that we ordered.

thai bread pork

This is the chilli paste and pork floss version (15 baht). It’s great!

thai bread tea

This is the Thailand tea custard version (12 baht) which MDC ordered. It tastes like tea custard.

the platinum fashion mall

Just be careful when you walk down the many aisles of The Platinum Fashion Mall…it’s temptation personified in a large concrete building. You’re going to spend a lot of baht here coz everything seems cheap.

Greetings from Bangkok, Thailand!

me bangkok

Sawadee ka! Greetings from Bangkok, Thailand. I just arrived yesterday and spent most of the night walking around. I’m staying at Siam City Hotel in Bangkok.

ticket

The flight from Kuching to KL to Bangkok was timed perfectly and Bangkok is one hour behind Malaysia (GMT +7) so I’m going to pre-date all the posts I make in Bangkok by one hour coz that is the time over here.

arrival card

There is a Thailand immigration card that you need to fill in (both the arrival and departure details) so you can clear customs real fast (took me all of one minute). The immigration in BKK airport has one of those new Logitech webcams that swivel to your direction.

bangkok air

I arrived at Bangkok International Airport at 4:30 pm local time (that means the time in Thailand, not Malaysia) which would be 5:30 pm back home.

thai girl

The people in Thailand are decidedly more polite and accommodating and friendly than the Malaysian counterparts (sorry, it just had to be said). Which part of it is due to the tourism industry is debatable but I haven’t had a bad experience so far.

bangkok customs

I breezed through BKK customs via the green lane (who said Bangkok was strict?) and took a taxi to Siam City Hotel from the airport for 650 baht (about RM 65 or US $30) coz I wanted to do the tourist thing at night.

thai video

Download: Bangkok video [sixthseal.com]

bangkok street

Check out the video, I took it in the airport limousine service and the driver was kind enough to teach me some Thai phases (khopun kap – that’s Thank You in Thai) and even took the liberty of passing me a catalogue for a massage center close to my hotel. 😉

siam city hotel bangkok

This is Siam City Hotel, Bangkok where I’m staying. I’m staying at this place coz it’s clean (just got a new tattoo and gotta take care of it remember?). I’m more of a traveler than a tourist, but then there’s also this event I wanted to gatecrash (more about that later ;))

siam city hotel room

I tipped the driver 50 baht coz he was being real nice and told me where to catch some real muay thai (Thai kickboxing) action and taught me some Thai phrases which I used immediately upon arrival at the hotel. I think the receptionist was quite impressed but she told me that it’s gender specific, khopun kap as a gender neutral but decidedly masculine tone and khopun ka (without the p sound) for a more feminine address.

siam city room service

I’m rambling a bit over here…there’s so much to share with all of you, I’m having fun over here in Bangkok. I’m going to make more posts today okay? In sequence, as a travelogue, did so much in a single day over here and net access costs 640 baht for a day (that’s a whopping RM 64) so I might as well make good use of it right?

Till then, la got!

That’s Thai for goodbye. =D

New tattoo on chest – Phoenix (marking fresh out of detox) Rebirth photos

phoenix rebirth

I just got a new colored tattoo on my chest – it’s a phoenix to symbolize rebirth and marking the day I stopped using drugs (opiates). I don’t want to elaborate much about the ICU matter but it doesn’t take a genius to figure out why I was in. It’s my third day off drugs now and I’m doing good.

phoenix fresh

Phoenix Rebirth is the tattoo I got to commemorate this day. It’s a custom design, I wanted an aggressive phoenix that looks like it has flames and is soaring up. New beginnings and all that. I had it done at Borneo Headhunters. It’s located on my left chest, close to my heart.

One Tree Hill Restaurant review

one tree hill

One Tree Hill Restaurant is located at the ex-campus of Lim Kok Wing college. It was converted into an eating establishment recently and there was some debate to the actual name of the said eating establishment (One Hill Tree, One Branch on a Tree and so forth were evocated, mostly by me) until we got there. My dining companion told me I’m dyslectic.

one tree hill restaurant

One Tree Hill restaurant is nestled nicely on top of a hill and there is ample parking space. It is one of the new Magenta styled themed eating establishments except One Tree Hill has one hell of a menu. “Diverse” was the word my dining companion called it. There was Asian cuisine, Italian food, as well as more general dining fare people here associate with “Western Food”.

one tree hill al fresco

One Tree Hill has a shaded al fresco dining area out in the front. It’s nice but perhaps a little impractical for the Malaysian climate. It may be good at night though, and it’s shaded under tent-like structures at least.

one tree hill bricks

The bulk of the One Hill Tree dining experience is stage left. There are nice brick textures to the structure of the restaurant and it imparts a general feeling of coziness. The interior of One Hill Tree is completely air-conditioned and reservations are recommended.

one tree hill interior

One Hill Tree has a full bar and serves alcohol as well as a variety of wines and has seating accommodations to cater for just about any number of people. The tables for two are nicely done, it’s not too small like most dining establishments but it’s cozy enough to allow for meaningful conversation at the same time.

one tree hill painting

There is an oil canvas in featured in the dining area of One Tree Hill and I thought it looked very much like the mansion where One Tree Hill is currently now based. The restaurant is perhaps better described as being a mansion converted into an eating establishment.

one tree hill natural lighting

One Tree Hill has one wall that has see-though glass for sunlight to come in. The area is curved so it allows what little light that filters in is able to permeate the entire dining area. It has a nice view of the car park and surrounding areas.

one tree hill view

This is the view from the window at One Tree Hill restaurant. The lush gardens and trees featured is quite pleasing to the eye (lots of green ;)) and that’s probably where the name of this restaurant came from – there is a huge single tree that stands out from the rest of the trees.

one tree hill shrimp salad

Shrimp Salad (RM 15)
Delicious shrimps, apples and potatoes tossed in our special cocktail dressing served on a bed of crispy lettuce.

It’s good. It’s a little over-dressed (too much 1k Island Sauce) but at least it’s cold. 😉

one tree hill chicken kiev

Chicken Kiev (RM 25)
This is what my dining companion had. It’s good, I had a bite of it and it contains ham (?) in between the chicken fillet.

one tree hill chicken kiev inside

I cannot name my dining companion due to certain issues of circumstance so don’t ask. :p

one tree hill burger

One Tree Hill Beef Burger (RM 23)
Mouth watering grounded patties of lean sirloin with crispy lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, chilli and tomato sauce, dill pickle and a touch of creamy mayo. Comes in a sesame seed bun.

It also contains a note that all One Tree Hill burgers are accompanied by their home-made coleslaw and French fries.

one tree hill roasted lamb

Roasted Lamb (RM 32)
This came recommended from our waitress and it did not disappoint. Its good roasted lamb in slices and the presentation is great, with baby corn and other miscellaneous items adding color to the dish. We shared this one and this is the best item on One Tree Hill’s menu to date.

One Tree Hill restaurant comes highly recommended from me – the service is good, the ambience is great, and the company is immaculate. 😉

The Medium from Thailand

thailand medium house

I was dragged to a new and “really good” medium during the weekend after boozing at a pub. My friend was really keen to go and no one wanted to go with her (I wanted to go clubbing too, actually), but I thought wtf, and humored her. I went with nothing except my cell phone (which explains the image quality or the lack thereof).

thailand medium prayer

There was a counter at the front of the semi-detached house in the middle of nowhere and a group of devout believers at the front with a book (which my friend told me is equivalent to a tithe) so I gave them RM 20 and we were allowed into this room with a lot of religious figurines and prayer paraphernalia.

thailand medium joss sticks

It was rather Zen-like actually, and my friend told me to take the joss sticks (totaling 3 in number) light it, say a prayer and then take it to the container outside and repeat the same incantation while planting the joss sticks into the container. I’m not familiar with the rites and rituals of such proceedings so it was interesting to find out.

thailand medium beer

The best part about the entire fiasco? Free beer! No shit, they had free beer and a (small) buffet tablet lineup for food. I didn’t eat but I drank a lot of beer. It was definitely worth the RM 20 admission fee. I got to meet with the medium from Thailand too (he was also holding a can of beer, strangely) and he gave me four digits for Toto (Lotto).

I didn’t use it. 😉

"Sum of Parts" Combination: Baclofen + zopidem + tramadol

sum of parts baclofen front

Well, any self-respecting professional drug user (?) is bound to have times when stocks of the Good Stuff (TM) runs low, and those times usually coincides with the experimentation of combinations of inferior (but available) pharmaceuticals with potential in the hopes of catching a high that exceeds the sum of its parts. I like to call this doing the “Sum of Parts” combo a.k.a. riding the potentiating effects of pharmaceutical stacking.

This is one of the right combinations.

sum of parts baclofen back

Baclofen is marketed as Lioresal and is prescribed as a muscle relaxant. However, the drug use community has found out that baclofen [sixthseal.com] could be a possible Gamma hydroxybutyrate (GHB) analog in higher-than-prescribed doses which I have documented in the link above due to the GABA (B) agonist properties.

sum of parts lioresal

I finally tracked down the elusive blister packs of Lioresal and used to have a whole stash of them before the police raided my place and carted away anything that resembles pills or capsules but I managed to find one last blister pack deep down in my stash box – it was caught between the cardboard and thus was missed by the raiding party. I know – it’s sad.

sum of parts baclofen pills

The baclofen is similar to the tablets that I have sourced before except this comes in the proper blister packaging. There is the familiar CG/K|J imprint on the pills and the brand name is Liorésal 10 mg. I had a full blister pack of this which makes it 100 mg.

sum of parts zopiclone

I also managed to obtain 30 tablets of zopiclone (Imovane) in the form of 7.5 mg generic tablets from the pharmaceutical giant APO. I have also written about zopiclone [sixthseal.com] back in 2003 when I didn’t have an opiate habit (had a methamphetamine habit instead) and my benzodiazepine tolerance/dependence wasn’t quite as large as it is right now (it just keeps getting higher).

sum of parts zopiclone pills

Zopiclone isn’t hard to obtain coz my doctor already prescribes me a generous maintenance benzodiazepine course – 3 x 2 mg Rivotril (clonazepam), 4 x 15 mg Dormicum (midazolam) and 10 x 0.5 mg Xanax (alprazolam) daily so I just casually mentioned zopiclone and he just gave it to me, albeit with a rather strange spoken postscript – “Don’t inject it, ah”.

I think he knew I was desperate that night to get off and since I couldn’t score opiates off him, he probably figured I was going to get fucked up anyway, one way or the other.

(For the record, he was cleaned out – three 500 tablet DF-118 bottles was polished off by three patients in two months – and as luck would have it, the patients were named me, myself, and I, so you can imagine the implications behind that if anyone found out. To order more is to court disaster and risk questions about prescribing policies and would necessitate the second “disappearance” of my medical record should it be known that a single patient consumed that amount of DF-118 dihydrocodeine 30 mg with the willing participation of the said doctor. It would be useless to tell “them” that he justified his actions as a healthcare provider genuinely interested in my well being by getting me off street drugs and giving me a local harm reduction option in lieu of methadone replacement therapy in KL. The same thing happened about a year back and my medical record went “missing” to start me on a clean slate and to protect him from justifying prescriptions of certain controlled pharmaceuticals which some third-party observers might find excessive, but was actually necessary for your safety since I was using methamphetamine abusively then and was prone to aggression during meth induced psychosis and needed to be heavily sedated with large amount of benzodiazepines for public interest. I think one nurse was fired over that for “sloppy record keeping” and I still miss her to this day. I’m sorry you had to take the fall for us. Take care and Godspeed, wherever you are.) Combination dosage:
(Caution: This is not a dosage guide!)

Prior consumed pharmaceuticals:Prozac (fluoxetine) :40 mg (morning)
Benzodiazepines: Various (clonazepam 6 mg, alprazolam 4 mg and lorazepam 2 mg) throughout the day

“Sum of Parts” Dose:
Baclofen: 100 mg
Zopiclone: 225 mg
Tramadol: 400 mg
(and)
Dormicum (midazolam): 150 mg

I took 100 mg of baclofen and washed it down with 20 tablets of 7.5 mg zopiclone (don’t try this at home) and it felt good – it was better than the sum of its parts. I was full of serotonin for some reason, really happy, laughing, slurring my words and disinhibited. It was really good for 2 hours before a noticeable plateau so I took tramadol to boost it up again and it was great. It’s a really chatty disinhibited happy feeling, with a lot of slurring and anterograde amnesia (which is really quite fun while out, I would be talking and my friends couldn’t make sense of me with the slurring, and I would forget things in the middle of sentences which is quite amusing really).

There is an unusual amount of drug-seeking behavior (well, more than usual anyway :p) while on this combination – I kept on seeking more things to get me up, and I took the rest of the zopiclone (225 mg in all – the entire 30 tablets) and several benzodiazepines that I was carrying around with me (clonazepam and alprazolam – unknown amount). I can’t remember exactly what I took, but a friend had to stop me from popping pills and apparently I kept insisting that I was alright, but she got concerned anyway.

It was a blur for the next three hours (five hours from starting dose) before I got home and went straight to my prescription meds and gobbled down a full blister pack of Dormicum (midazolam) 15 mg. 10 tablets of Dormicum at once. I don’t remember much after that but apparently I decided to sleep at some point (that I remember) and left everything running and woke up to glaring lights and music at about 11 pm – a seven hour sleep.

I didn’t feel bad the next day, unlike the massive headache and excessive sleeping I encountered the first time I took baclofen (have taken more recreationally since then) but in hindsight, I took a lot of benzodiazepines and other hypnotics that night and while I was still aware of what I was doing, I could have overdosed if I hadn’t taken the strip of Dormicum 15 mgs which knocked me out.

I would probably still be fiending and trying to get more out of the “Sum of Parts” and take more benzos or mistake the Panadeine (500 mg paracetamol/APAP with 8 mg codeine) for Paralgin Forte (300 mg paracetamol/APAP with 30 mg codeine) or worse, didn’t give a flying fuck either way and grabbed fistfuls and swallowed it anyway (Panadeine is the devil coz paracetamol/APAP is Satan).
(Paralgin Forte is alright though if you can’t get any opiate only preparations)

It should be noted that 150 mg of Dormicum (midazolam) with the other benzodiazepines would be considered excessive to a benzodiazepine naïve person and could lead to an overdose in non-benzodiazepine tolerant people. I have taken larger amounts of Dormicum before since (therefore? – Cause and Causation) I’m desensitized to it, so I have to repeat – this is not a dosage guide.

The sum of the pharmaceutical combination is greater than the parts though, for what it’s worth. 😉

…but it’s also a dirty, desperate attempt to get off and for that price (the price of the pharmaceuticals) you can catch a better high though non-pharmaceutical substances. Only for the desperate (in my defense, I was doing it to stave off opiate withdrawals :p) with no other better substances or those who has miscellaneous pharmaceuticals with potential lying around at home.

For what it’s worth, it feels like low dose MDMA, and I could have gotten Ecstasy tablets instead…except I don’t do e anymore, unless it’s for a worthy cause (or with the right people) coz the day after serotonin depletion effect exacerbates my depression.

Speaking of opiates, it seems that the Malaysian government has decided to take DF-118 and other opiate containing preparations off the market slowly and leaving only morphine and fentanyl for palliative care patients so stock up while you can. It seems to be true, from the trends in the industry and more importantly, coz a beautiful angel told me so (she’s right, trust me, coz she’s a divine being and thus cannot be wrong, or it would violate the fundamental omniscience basis of most religions).

I’m sending out a team of my protégés (two male and one female) to obtain as much opiate preparations as they can coz I am unable to get prescriptions filled anymore due to pushing my luck once too many at the various medical establishments over here (and also due to general no-go red flags on my good name and the medical records it is associated with due to rampant documentation of my activities on this blog and the inevitable word of mouth mechanism creating sixthseal.com awareness amongst the medical fraternity and my reputable name along with it).

I am now limiting my doctor shopping activities to a couple of select doctors who are blissfully unaware of the existence of this blog or its connection to me (Why do you think I never put up another huge picture in the About Me page? That’s what the Narcotics police printed out in full color glossy A4 sized glory along with the more incriminating parts of my blog when they arrested me at my office so I’m not going to repeat that mistake. You have to search for photos now.) and I have a couple of solid links with dihydrocodeine 30 mg (just got 84 tablets off one doctor for a “slipped disc”).

My protégés are going to do most of my opiate doctor shopping for me now, since they’re “clean” (no prior records) and they’re actually getting quite good (one guy and one girl have successfully obtained DF-118, Paralgin Forte and DF-118, generic dihydrocodeine 30 mg, and morphine respectively) with a bit of my guidance, and they’re all presenting different ailments and are unaware of each other and don’t take opiates themselves which is a Good Thing (TM) coz you never ask an opiate user to score for you. It’ll just end up consumed. 😉

I’m offering them different terms too – one is new, one is swapping the opiates he gets for my benzodiazepines as a favor, and one is just doing it coz she can (and coz I reimburse the price of the consultation + medication for both hits and misses) but I do get a little concerned about the methods employed by the last one – the morphine was boosted in a CCTV covered area – but I must admit, she’s good at it, probably coz you’re so klepto. :p Oh, which reminds me, she’s doing it coz she owes me anyway, I saved her ass when she boosted some articles from MNG and she had to call me and I had to pay her way out so they don’t call the cops. I love you all anyway. =D

Go forth, and make fishers of men!

(or something)

Hmm…I seem to have greatly deviated from the post subject. My apologies.

You know I’m spun when I write voluminous posts with lengthy asides and constant meanderings like this one. 😉
